It somewhat worries me that -
  • The kids appear to live on one island, alone, and are going to sail off to 'other worlds', alone.
    • In KH2 it is shown that there are two islands.

Why didn't they ever go to school while planning the raft, or even consider their lack of parental guidance?
  • When Sora ends up in Traverse Town (sp?) his only concerns are for Riku and Kairi. What about Mum and Dad?
  • Wouldn't his mother mind him going out in the middle of the night to the island?
    • In the manga Sora's mother calls him for dinner and he's gone, so clearly she doesn't know.

Where the fuck are the parents?!

they are not alone. in many different places, their parents and other people are referenced and they are there.kairi was raised by the village chief, which was stated many times during the games

Kairi was raised by the mayor, and I can't for the life of me remember when Sora talks about his parents. If my family got swallowed into a big black hole I'd be a bit concerned.

Also that still doesn't explain why they intended to sail off without telling anyone, or why Sora's parents never notice him missing. In the events of CoM, did his parents forget him too? <_<

they wanted to leave because they wanted to explore the other worlds(curious kids...) and their parents were not important enough to be included in the their decision making it seems

Parents are missing from most RPGs, especially when you consider that the main character is very rarely older than 18.
Off the top of my head, Zell's mum is in FFVIII and she's not his real mother anyway, and Rachel's father blames Locke and kicks him out of the house.
Also Wakka, Tidus and Selpie are all orphans, and it's a fair assumption that Kairi is too. Riku and Sora's parents are not mentioned, which doesn't mean that they don't have any.

Im sure he gets called from his bed by his mum or some such....suchness at one point, Im assuming theats in KH....and doesnt his island get sucked into some kind of blackness or something so technicaly there'd not be any parents left to miss him? Kairi defo goes to school, becuiase she's in a school uniform in the second one before she remembers who Sora is

So maybe they were on theier school holidays or it was weekend at teh start of KH. And lets face it, how many kids have hairbrained ideas about adventuring and not consulting their parents? They never actually managed to get anywhere with said raft, it was just a pipe dream Im expecting

...that's just my peanut :wacky:

Its early ¬.¬

Lol just thought that Sora, Riku and Kairi where going through
a "Parents are uncool- leave us alone " Teenage kinda stage.

But really wanted to know why Sora's Mum called him for Dinner during the middle of the night. Neglect or something ?
:gonk:

But let's face it. Sora cared more about a half-done raft more than his own Mother. Who is " Heartless " now huh ? xD

Quote from Riku before he heads into the realm of darkness. " We may never see our Parents again, but I'm not afraid ".

his mom calls him down for idnner in the game to, I remember that part.
and Riku was saying something about the parents when he was in the whole "lets cross thorugh the darkness" thing

In the beggining, just before the island disappears there's a scene of Sora in his room when. He looks out the window and sees a storm and runs oustide to get the raft. When he is gone from his room you hear someone call "Sora, dinner's ready!"
Sounded like a woman, therefore it must've been Sora's mother.
Besides when you run around the island you only see five people (Wakka, Riku, Selphie, Kairi and Tidus) in the place. So the parents are probably inside the little houses, wherever they might be lol.

There parents were not important to the story so it really doesnt matter wat they think about it. But it would be pretty cool to get a image of soras dad and mom see wat they look like and actually have them involved in the story. Maybe when they continue soras story in 3 theyll involve his parents and it turns out they too were keyblade masters or something!!! zomg

Yeah, parents are rarely mentioned in any adventure-esque game just to avoid conflict methinks.

Remember how Kairi has forgotten about Sora in the second game?
The same thing probably happened to his parents imo.

I have always wondered about this. Not only why doesn't Sora or Riku wonder about there parents, why aren't the parents out looking for the kids? I mean when everything finally goes back to normal why doesn't it show Sora and Riku's worried parents? I mean they basically disappear, but Kairi comes back all alone. Its just crazy.

It does seem strange that Sora's and Riku's parents aren't mentioned as often as they probably should have. I mean sure, it's probably not essential to the storyline, but it does make a person wonder. If his parents do end up with the usual case of "Sora amnesia" then wouldn't they ever wonder about his room? His room is filled with his belongings and, under normal circumstances, possibly schoolwork - or some random object within the house with his name on it. I'm thinking it's probably just a loophole in the storyline meant to be ignored or overlooked.

Yeah. Especially when he comes back, what's he gonna do? Unless his parents remember him again, in perfect timing with his return o_o
Good point about his room - I'd imagine Riku would have a billion trophies around.

I think it's really more about the unwritten RPG rules...like, being able to walk into anyone's house and take their crap. They were an insignificant part of the story I suppose, so were tossed aside :P

But...Sora's mom sounds hot...jus' sayin'...

Parents? I thought that the three of them are kind of UFOs (which don't fly :P) that just live alone on a isolated island... and don't know anything...

I think I need to reread KHI's plot or to try and get the game... somehow...

But I guess it is quite common that parents aren't mentioned in RPGs.
Simply because it'll be hard for the children to convince their parent to permit them to go on a dangerous adventure. So the creators simply kill them off or make them disappear :yay:

Thus most of the heroes are orphans. It is quite logical though, as someone who has annoying parents doesn't have a chance to go on an adventure. Thus only orphans go on an adventure and then become heroes.
Or simply those who has the guts to run away from home :jon:
