Did the map annoy you as well?

I mean in other FFs, you always gtta find your way yourself and in FFX it's already pointed out, hell you can even see at the map where hidden treasures are located O_O.

It's getting worse now that I dont even look at the environments, I just move my character by looking at the map so I actually control the yellow arrow and not Tidus.

I'm surely no fan of it.

huh, who wat you can see the teasours o nda map since when????

I think he means that you can see hidden paths on the map that almost always lead to a secret treasure...

As for me I liked the map on FFX, you don't have to look at it if you don't want to, this was the first FF game I really sat down and played for long periods of time so I wasn't aware of how the other FF games operated with regards to navigation. I know it's easy with the red arrow/pointer thing telling you where to go but I think (I may be very, very wrong) that you can turn off the red arrow/pointer thing at the config screen...possibly :P

haha i dont think you can...(i may too be very, very wrong) i think you can only have the map on or off.

Yeah, I think it may be something like that but I'm pretty certain you can do something with the map...or maybe this Thread is just a whole bunch of miscalculated lies? who knows? :P

I was certainly fine with the map. It was actually easier for me to navigate through the areas and although I do love a challenge, the one thing I really hate the most is losing my way and trying to figure out whether I should go North, South, East, or West.

i actually enjoy the challenge of navigating a huge continent, or an entire world. or maybe im just stuck in the past and wish final fantasy would stay traditional. yep, thats it. :D

I was extremely annoyed by the map.
For the reasons you said above yes, I liked navigating huge continents, seeing the scenery and finding out for myself what the countryside holds.

Making that map for X kind of limited your freedom, so to speak.
It was all directed for you.

I wasn't a fan of the map either. Just like you; I found myself far too many times just looking at the yellow arrow and controlling that rather than Tidus. It does seem to take away the fun of exploring an area yourself.

I didn't annoy me, but I do miss the maps of old where you had full control of your characters to go wherever you wished through the continents, provided everything was open.

I truly do miss the freedom of exploring the worlds. :'(

i tried turning off the map but i found that it didnt make it any harder because the game is still one path pretty much.
