So is anyone else unsatisfied with the logo?
Yoshitaka Amano does such amazing work, I feel sort of cheated that Final Fantasy IX is the only Final Fantasy to not have its logo done by him.
I can only imagine what it would have been like...

awww really i didnt kno that the same guy had done all the logos i wonder what hapened to Yoshita did he quit before IX? But i always did like the logos of all the FFs but i thought they did and okay job with IX's logo lol
 
No he didn't quit. but I think hes been less involved in the final fantasy series after IX was put out.
the logo isn't that bad, but im my opinion, its the suckyest. lol
it seems like someone just copied the concept of VII's logo...

Meteor logo kicks ass.

Final Fantasy IX's logo is supposed to be a crystal, I believe. It's probably a homage, since crystal was a recurring plot device in th series.
 
I thought so too. That's because every logo is designed by him except for IX, as you said. But there seems to be some similarities in some logos. FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFXIII all have logos that in some way or another, shows the ending.

FFVII - meteor.
The world is almost struck by meteor in the end
FFVIII - Rinoa and Squall embracing.
Well Rinoa and Squall kissed in the ending scene...
FFIX - a crystal
the crystal is discovered by Kuja and the party near the end of the game
FFXIII - a ball shaped thing with two women and a pillar to support it
most obvious one by far. I mean... it's a picture of cocoon and the two women are Vanille and Fang crystallised within, depicting the ending

correct me if I am wrong, or missing some titles with similar logos in terms of ending.

back to topic, I guess FFIX's logo is intentionally made simpler and smaller because it is a tribute to the older FFs after all.
 
I have to agree. I'm not really a huge fan of IX itself (I have trouble sticking to it...the furthest I've gotten was to getting Quina. However, I do think it has the most boring logo of all of the games.

My personal favorite is IV's (the Kain one moreso, the Golbez one for the DS version isn't bad). My second favorite is XII's. Gabranth is awesome.
 
I hadn't ever noticed that he didn't design the logo for FFIX. I just assumed that he did, but when I think about it it isn't actually in his style. That's odd though as Amano was actually more active with Square/Enix/Soft (whatever it was then) during the development of FFIX than he had been in the last two instalments. Amano was responsible for character designs and such again.

Perhaps he was just busy at the time doing the other things for FFIX. I can only imagine that the logo would have been pretty decent if he had designed it. The current logo still works fine though.
 
yeah. im hoping we will get a new logo design for it someday. when maybe FFIX is re released as a special edition like the early FF's were on the DS. when a PlayStation game is like dinosaur age status. lol but im sue it will be a long way away....

I dont mind the log of 9, its not my fav. But its not ugly neither. Yes this indeed a stone, I think it was the one Garnet or Eiko have. Cant quite remember.

To be honest, I don't care about the logo at all. It's really high on the list of $#%@ noone should care about.
 
I didnt understand its meaning til right near the end of the game, it just felt really random to me, I guess a black mage or summat would have been more fitting, though, the picture disks more than make up for how...crappy the logo is, if I could ever get into case to perv on them ever again :sad3:

It's called an opinion. We all have one - and if we choose to have an opinion on this well, do you really give a shit? Or is giving a shit about what other people take an interest high on your list of "£*%$£^$&^$?

I'm not ranting at anyone. I like the logos (some of them), but I find it impressive someone would care so much as to create a discussion about it. It's not to be taken as criticism.
 
hey im just sayin.

I was going to get a shirt with the IX logo on it, but I decided not to because I like the other logo's better.... I just wish the IX logo looked a little cooler. Thats all, and I thought it was an interesting thing to mention that the FFIX logo wasn't done by the same guy as all the other ones.
 
Personally my favorite logo was always FFVIII's mainly b/c i understood what it stands for very very quickly lol but id have to say that i actually thought this was an interesting and alittle different off a FF post. XD Besides i learned that one person was the one to design all those other cooleo logo's :x3:

And dont worry about Discordius he's very.....:hmmm: discordius i think thats about right XD (jk :awesome: discordius *hugs discordius*)
 
Since Yoshitaka Amono left the logo's have been getting bigger lol.

But really it doen't make that much different,plus the logo is fine,it's kinda unique as well having a ring. But it is suitable for the game...........

But,my personal favourite would be FFX logo don't know why but I love it.
 
yeah the FFX logo is one of my favorites its really awesome.

also I like the FFXII logo, and the FFIV one- the newer one :3

That's what I love about nearly all of the covers. They almost all mean something. The earlier games aren't as meaningful though.

1 has the Warrior of Light
2 has the Emperor
3 has a Light Warrior
4 has Kain (or Golbez for the DS)
5 has a dragon (a Wind Drake perhaps?)
6 has Magitek armor

These all relate to the games, but besides 2 and DS4, they aren't super important plot elements.

but 7 and on definitely become more meaningful to the story

7 has the Meteor (big plot point was how to stop Meteor)
8 has Squall and Rinoah embracing (pretty self explanitory I suppose)
9 has a crystal (not sure on this one, haven't played through it yet)
10 has Yuna doing something (summoning or sending? looks like the sending dance)
11...doesn't count IMO...but it has a bunch of characters (MMO)
12 has Gabranth (he's the primary Judge)
13 has Cocoon, Fang and Vanille (I suppose?), Odin's ghestalt form, and what appears to be the bottom of Snow and Serah's pendants. (All fairly important, if not very)
 
The FFIX logo was cool, but I think the Invincible would've been more relavant than Alexandria's 'crystal' pillar.
 
What? Yoshitaka Amano designing the characters in that game isn't good enough? :wacky:. It's alright, it doesn't looks any better or worse than VII's really. My Favorites are IV, VI and XII.
