Well I couldn't find a thread for this upcoming action blockbuster.

The first film that arrived in 2010 didn't live up to expectations of a lot of people. I accept it for what it is, mindless fun and a homage to 80's action. We are now a couple days away from the impending sequel in which looks to have improved and most reviews I have seen have stated this. Some say like it improves on the first but that isn't much to say the least. Then there are others who say this mindless action makes it kick ass awesome.

So yet again it is for us to take it for what it is and not what today's actions movies are. We all know the action will be over the top and the story will be a bit of A4 paper with scribbles but I for one don't care, I am going to see a mindless action movie because it has all my favourite action stars in one place.

So what do you people think?

Post your reviews when you've seen it here and make sure to discuss :D

This movie.......was terrible.....

the first half had me falling asleep, head wabbling everywhere as I snored away, second half had me laughing at how ridiculous all the old actors were and how they took any chance to shove famous lines from their old movies in wherever they could. I guess it's silly to go in expecting much, specially if you've seen the first, which I have but man... this one was just horrible. You could tell Sylvester Stallone was trying real hard to be serious about his role though which just made it funnier.

He needs to stop with the plastic surgery though, his eyes are getting so small, soon he'll have none :|

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

They were all old but they knew that and made plenty of jokes about them being too old for it. Like the one where i think Sly says something like they all belong in a museum etc.
The one liners were too much and too many. Like Toni sad you had every single well known line from each stars action movies. How many times does Arnie have to say il be back. :lew: Tearing off the car door like in the terminator. It was all thrown up in your face. The only one that was kinda subtle i liked was a line from die hard 1 and 2. Not yipee kayay motherfucker ( which was said btw ) but another phrase John Mclane said in those films. I wonder how many people clicked onto that? There was even a Chuck Norris meme in there for when he made his appearance. Of course this is after taking on a tank and destroying an entire army of people. I must admit i laughed at that part. The good kinda laugh though. Not hahaha..this is so fucking ridiculous -facepalms- Theres even a scene where Arnie says whos gunna come along next? Rambo?

I enjoyed the first film and you cant go into the expendables expecting something serious and realistic because its not intended to be that way. Its silly and not meant to be taken seriously but this is what annoyed me most about the 2nd films. Theres scenes where they really tried to be emotional and make the audience sad.
For instance when the guy is killed by Van damm nearer the start. I believe his name is Billy, but im not 100% on that. But theres this ''intended'' sad scene where after his death and they read the letter he wrote for his girlfirned incase anything happened to him. But everything leading up to that part of the film has been silly and after this intended sad funeral the scene ends with Stallone delivering one of the cheesiest lines in the whole film. And thats saying a lot when you have arnie saying IL BE BACK every 2 minutes. How could you feel bad for the kid? His death was the major part of the plot. It turns the movie into a revenge driven storyline.
Another example is when the Asian chick is talking to Stallone while theyre hiding out in the run down bar. Stallones character gives this deep dramatic speech about the life he leads and how people around him keep dying and its sad blah blah. Then you get a shot of Dolph lundgren snoring and a huge hideout. Im sorry but for me these 2 elements just didnt work together. The movie is just too over the top to try and have moments of genuine seriousness. Its too ridiculous to ever make the audience feel sorry for the characters.

With that aside the movie did make me laugh. I laughed more at just how ridiculous it was rather than laughing at intended funny jokes. I think the point of the movie was to be as crazy and ridiculous as possible and they did achieve that. Its always kinda cool to see all your favourite old action movie stars in one film. Sadly this film is all about Stallone. I was dissapointed that the other characters screentime was very small. Bruce Willis is probably one of the better actors in the film but his time on screen is too little . Even Arnie didnt have many shots. Il be back is short quote though afterall. Jean claude van dam, i have to say that i really liked him as a bad guy. DOANT CHAH-LENGE ME. That quote will stick with me forever hahaha. But i thought he did a good job. You never see him as a baddie so it was different.

Overall i was dissapointed. The first film is far far better. If your looking for something crazy to watch with the lads on a satarday night whilst eating a pizza and having a few beers this will do just fine. Its not making anyones top 10 though.
