Who is the most iconic, bad, fury-invoking, or simply best Final Fantasy villain of all? Discuss.

i think kefka is because hes so weird and crazy and evil! and he knows that hes evil too, and loves being evil! like when he poisons the water in that place where you meet that old swordsman (i forgot his name :(), and destroys the world. did he destroy it? i dont remember :( i want to play it again. i just need to make myself start a new game :D

oh i forgot to mention ive just played final fantasy 6, 10 and X-2. i mean ive finished them, ive played final fantasy 12 too but i only got a little bit in the game, i didnt really like it :p

I'm going to have to go with Sephiroth...he's just scary as hell. Ha;f of the time he doesn't even have to do anything...he just shows up...or someone mentions he MIGHT be around and I'm like ..'shit guys, we should leave!'

Kefka for sure. Of the FF games I've played, he was the most sadistic. He kills and burns everything down while he laughs at the victims o_O That's some scary person. The poisoning of the water suply of Doma castle and the death of Cyan's family was really cruel. Not to mention he fulfilled his objective:
he did destroy the world
. So the Oscar goes to Kefka.

Other possible choices would be Seymour with his wish of becoming Sin to destroy Spira and Sephiroth, because burning down Nibelheim was just cruel.

Thought this topic was discussed elsewhere before, but I guess it got buried.

I could make a legit argument for many of these villains, mainly Kuja, Kefka, and Ex-Death, but I went with Kefka.

Kefka, like Kuja, had the common goal of world destruction, but Kuja turned semi-good at the end we think, and he wanted to save and preserve the soulds on Terra, even though he destroyed that too.

Kefka though held back nothing. He wanted all dead, and he would do whatever to get to the top. Turning the World of Balance into the World of Ruin was an astonishing feat. Kefka was the most evil I say.

I haven't played all the FF games so I decided to say Sin and Seymour. They are some pretty mean dudes. They are also very deadleh!

Most of these choices remind me that I should go and play VI asap. Going to get the GBA remake as soon as I finish V. Right now I'm going for Sephiroth, still haven't forgiven him for killing Aeris...

And with that, never got to see her final limit.

If the question was "who was the best villain" then I would have to go with Sephiroth but seeing as it is "who is the most evil" I have to side with Kefka. Sephiroth, like so many of the other FF villains, was conflicted and I think it can be be argued whether or not he was evil, but Kefka was just plain crazy, irrationally so, and that (along with his laugh) is what makes him the most evil villain in the series.

A tad more effort please, maybe tell us why you think this?

Id say Kefka was probably the evilest, he was sadistic from the off, poisoning people, kicking the emperor of the floating continent (xD) killing general Leo (I think?) LAser beaming towns later on.... he's just one crazy evil dude that liked to destroy things. The world was essentially just his toybox or something I think, he was great xD But also evil :gasp:

Also, I thought we had a thread on this too *searches*

Edit* No, I think it was that who's the evilest shinra or the empire thread....>.>

Kefka. He killed the most people and actually acomplished his ultimate goal. And he was the most sadistic off all the villians and the one that I would truly be afraid of if I were to run into him.

Kefka.

He was sadistic. His design plus all the atrocities he committed, he was evil. He poisoned many people, he kicked the emperor off of the floating continent, sucked the energy out of the espers and then through them away like mere dolls. He was twisted.

But I am not so sure he was as diabolical as Hojo. He was a devil. He performed some very twisted, nasty experiments on many of the people in the FFVII universe. He was the one indirectly responsible for many of the earthshaking things that happened in the entire compilation. He experimented on people without any remorse. He probably thought of everyone as an experiment. He injected unknown cells into a fetus. An unborn child! He was terrible beyond words, invho.

This is easy: Kefka. The guy was batshit insane, wanted to destroy everyone and everything, and was just plain sadistic throughout the game.

He's so awesome :D

I voted for Garland. He's simply the embodiment of chaos (even transforms into Chaos). Plus, in Dissidia he appears to be the unofficial leader of the villainous cast. That alone is a display of his power and evilness. He also the arch-rival for the Warrior of Light, a knight who symbolizes all that is good.

I guess the word "iconic" in the original post was what made me make up my mind... I voted Sephiroth. I like how we had a small chance to get to know him in the Kalm flashback sequence, and him fighting the Green Dragon effortlessly was so very impressive, especially to a first-time player. I think that initial groundwork on his character is what a lot of the more shallow antognists (ie, Exdeath, Ultimecia) are in need of. The link between Sephiroth and Jenova is really cool too.

This wasn't an easy decision. Kefka is a very unique character, and in my opinion was by far and away the star of FFVI (especially because there isn't really a clear protagonist in FFVI). If I were to do a top three, I'd round it off with Zeromus in third place. I won't spoil FFIV just in case, but I like how he plays some of the characters as puppets.

Serymour is so the most Evil of all the villains, not only does he spend most of the game undead and chasing the party, but he also wants to become sin so he can spend his days showing up, causing total annihilation and death, and then vanish again, he is more eviler than Skeletor

Iconic and evil are two different characteristics. I'd say that Exdeath is the most evil, because he IS the tree of all evil spirit and has no character dimension. Isn't that the definition of true evil?

Not played the earlier FFs (except 3) so not sure who this Kefka guy is so I go with Seymour, first time you se him you think he is good (blind yevon worshippers) yet he'd already killed his dad and the way he looked at Yuna made me think, this guy is bad news, you see Anima first time, hes smiling a sure sign of a man who takes joy from destruction, you eventually find out his goals and he reveals himself to be one hell of an evil git, he then comes back, dead (EVIL) and tries to marry Yuna! Then when that fails he absorbs the fat Maestar and co and tries to kill you, next time you se him is on Mt Gagazet and hes killed off all the Ronso! Taking glee from it as he went! He also wants to become sin to wipe out the whole of Spira, I'd say he is most evil and cunning.

The Emperor.

He not only seeks global domination by any means necessary, he proves he's not just another would-be tyrant by conquering Hell. Yes, the man was so wicked, so full of greed, that he subjugated the dimension full of wicked and greedy souls and demons.

And the good part of him went on to "Heaven" and...still tried to conquer there.

Jesus Christ. What does it say abou ta man who's "good side" still seeks dominance over everything?

I also don't consider many of the villains listed "evil."

Kefka was insane. He had no ability to control himself, just like real life psychopaths do not.
Kuja was just trying to save himself from dying while also proving his worth.,
Yu Yevon was just trying to protect his beloved people.

I have not beaten FF3 or 5 yet so I can't say how evil Cloud of Darkness and Exdeath are but after The Emperor, Ultimecia seems the most evil. Look at what she did to the planet when we travel to her future.
