When I play as the emperor I've seen that it is easy to trick the AI in any difficulty, even Chaos.

I found these tricks working against most characters:

Jumping high up in a stage shooting a flare then charge starfall close to the flare while the AI tries to dash towards you but just dodges the flare and tries to dash again, they can of course figure it out but if you know how to do then they don't, some characters like Cloud, Zidane and some spellcasters are a harder to do this against.

In the stage Crystal World it is easy to dash with omni dash to a side of the platform in the middle and start starfall and try to stay far away from the AI but close to the wall.

In the stage Dreams End it is just to jump down the platform where the sword is and you find a corner where there is a wall in front and one above you. When the AI is above that platform it is easy to use starfall and go around in that little area under it while it just runs around above you, sometimes they fall down to attack you.

This one is working against Chaos:

Jump high and use flare, get close to the flar and charge starfall, Chaos will mostly react just as the AI in the first trick i wrote but he may start attacks like Divine punishment, Demon dance, soul of oblivion and bravery attacks. If he tries Divine punishment just release your charging and dodge as you usually do from it. Demon dance is easy to avoid just dodge every time you hear the teleport sound and when he has done his last attack in demon dance just dash against him and then use flare. When he uses Soul of oblivion dash towards him using the mines or use light crest to stop him, it maybe works with flare too. His bravery attacks will hit you easy but usually makes him go straight into your flare but you got a break, use a HP attack to go back to normal or wait it up, when he has lots of bravery use either magic pot or carbuncle to make it fair again.

Are these good tricks? what do you think?

I am new here and can't find a welcome thread so i say hi here :D

Thanks :D

When i try to use mines all the time i think it doesn't do anything. The mines explode after a certain time without the opponent going close to it and they can just dash or attack close to it and it won't do anything. My most used attacks with the emperor is following:
Thunder crest
Light crest (midair)
Bombard
Flare (ground and midair)
Starfall (Midair)

But i always keep mine (midair) with me because they are sometimes very useful.

How do you do when you use the emperors mines? Do you use them in a special way or just random?

Well keeping the sky filled with them is a good tactic, as well as slowing the enemy down it can also shield brave attacks and can sometimes stop hp attacks, depending on their nature. keeping the area below you filled with mines is a good tactic, for instance, against Firion he can't touch you if you are within a minefield since his straightarrow can be stopped by brave attacks (or blocking) and he won't be close enough for Weaponmaster if you position the mines well. It pays to position them depending on your opponent and their attacks/attack style. Also, use Flare as well to guard some of the projectile hp attacks, it will block one hp attack for you, again, depending on nature.

But for me it can't shield Brave attack nor hp attacks... as i said they can just dash on to me and the mines between us just disappears when they dash into them. Once they do a brave attack the mines also disappears like nothing happened. The only way for me to hit them with mines is if they jump into them wich doesn't happen quite often.

That depends, if the brave is melee (like Cloud's braver) it will cut through, but if it's ranged (like Firion's fire) it will destroy the mine with the brave attack. It just takes practice to work out what does what.

I see that melee attacks cuts through it like butter but not all. Maybe i'll try to see wich ones it works on... Do you main The Emperor?

I don't main him as much as before but he's one character I rarely lose with, especially when you work out the best areas to cast starfall. His ground flare is also handy against offensive enemies since they're forced to keep dodging around.

I'd rather use the Aerial Mines in my opponent's face rather than filling the air with them.
But if you can get a Bombard on the ground you can easily knock your opponent in the mines. I once used Bombard right before getting hit by Jecht Blade, Bombard has Guard Crush properties so it staggered us both when Bombard hit Jecht, but it also sent Jecht into some aerial mines I had there ;))
Anyway.
Thunder Crest. Thunder Crest. Thunder Crest.
Unblockable, cannot EX Guard out of it, cannot destroy. Cloud is in the air, you are on the ground. Cloud uses Braver. Instead of dodging or bombarding out of it, a good Emperor player will use Thunder Crest the instant they see "Braver" appear on the screen. Braver will send Cloud flying into the Thunder Crest, leaving you free to Land Mine him or Flare him.
Thunder Crest is The Emperor's bread and butter.
Oh and.
It is a good idea to always have a ground Flare around. This will keep pressure on your opponent.
Also try a Force Begets Courage build - Emperor's EX mode isn't really good so trading EX for BRV isn't a major inconvenience.

I use The Emperors EX all the time, it replenishes health and it is some extra damage wich i think is better than the bravery you get. Go into EX mode when you've released starfall or know the opponent will get hit and they are going to lose lots of it, to fight with much health and you will gain more :P . I main The Emperor mostly and i think he is great is great and all his tactics are great against all characters except Ultimecia, she is a pain to fight against.
