Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Triology? Care to enlighten me about that one?

And finales are always the best usually. Hopefully, this one will make up for some of the slow moving episodes in the series.
The upcoming Terminator film was up till recently known as 'Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins' but I've just found out its now going under the name 'Terminator 4: The Return of The Terminator'. Working titles I know but aside from that the developers of the 4th film hope it will be the first in a new trilogy set during the war (hense the original title of 'Terminator Salvation'). Apparently Kyle Reece is supposed to be one of the central characters as is John, and its all a build up to the creation of the T101 (Arnie).

Oh right, I thought those working titles clicked somewhere in my head. I wonder who's going to be playing John and the others in this. I doubt Arnie will be in this one ...

Terminator 4 (previously known as Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,[1] but now rumored to be Terminator: The Return of the Terminator[2]) is the upcoming fourth installment to the Terminator film series, scheduled to be released on May 22, 2009.[3] It is written by David Campbell Wilson, John Brancato, and Michael Ferris, directed by Joseph "McG" McGinty Nichol,[4] and stars Christian Bale as John Connor.[5] Anton Yelchin is playing Kyle Reese, who befriends Marcus, an early Terminator.[6] Sam Worthington is playing Marcus; he was personally recommended to McG by Terminator creator James Cameron.[7] Josh Brolin has been mentioned in a possible role as the Terminator.[8] Shooting of the film is expected to start on May 5, 2008 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[9] Stan Winston will supervise the visual effects.[10]
The plot and storyline of the film takes place after the events of T3 around 2019 and focuses mainly on the war between humanity and Skynet in the post-apocalyptic world.[8] John Connor will continue to be the central character along with a new character named Marcus, who will have "equal presence."[11] However, other sources confirmed that Kyle Reese would be the central character and that he'll have a huge part in not just this movie, but in future Terminator movies as well.[12] James Middleton, the associate producer of the film, stated that "It's really about the birth of a new hero,"[13] and McG said that it will also be about the development of the Model 101 Terminator.[8] Paul Haggis is in talks to rewrite the script.[6]
On May 9, 2007, it was announced that rights to the Terminator series had passed hands from producers Andrew G. Vajna and Mario Kassar to The Halcyon Company and Derek Anderson. In the Variety article detailing the purchase, it states the fourth film will focus on a 30-year old John Connor in what the producers hope will be a new trilogy. Series creator James Cameron is currently not involved with the project;[14] however, he did encourage McG on the project.[8]
So no, Arnie won't be in this one however they do have an excuse as his model (the T-101) is not developed until later in the war and different models are based on different people (In the T-101's case its in the form of former counter-terrorist Dieter Rossbach if you consider whats mentioned in the novels). It should also be noted that if they do decided to carry on with the Sara Connor series (which is a possibility) and chose to make it tie in with the forthcoming film, the events of T3 effectively become redundant as it will be an alternative time line to the rest of the series.

I have such mixed feelings about this.. I detested T3, and I haven't even bothered watching The Sarah Connor Chronicles..

I'm a horrendous hypocrite for saying this, but as far as I'm concerned, Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong are the only two people who can bring justice to John and Sarah Connor... but that's just my bias.x.x

*goes back to lurksville, now*

Yeah, this John Conner seems a lot more like the lame panicky John of T3 than the kind of cool John who taught his Terminator to curse & stuff of T2...and I'm iffy about this Sarah Conner too...she's kind of cool, but just not nearly as hardcore as the Sarah of T2 as well...I mean, she was a tough & rugged SOB in T2, am I wrong?

I kind of like the Terminator girl though, she's neat. Though the whole eye glowy thing they do every now & then to show that they're Terminators is kind of lame...why would they have that like that?? Should just have to continually do the skin peel. lol

Time Travel is weird in this series. T-900s carry weapons inside of them!!! >_>

Not watched T3 since I don't want to ruin the first two in my mind siince they are favourites with me. Not bothered with the series either even if it does have Summer Glau in it.

As for a fourth movie I would prefer that they didn't go ahead with it and just let the franchise go although the inclusion of Bale may give the film some merit.

Uh, he wasn't a T-101...he was a T-800...>_>

Whatever happened to the 'rubber skinned' Terminators they mentioned in the original?
Wiki as always shall provide light.

The end credits of all three Terminator films list Schwarzenegger's character as simply "The Terminator". Later films call the newer terminator characters by their model numbers (T-1000, T-X, etc.). The only consistent name for Schwarzenegger's Terminator character has been "The Terminator". Kyle Reese in The Terminator and Schwarzenegger's character in Terminator 2 refer to it as a "Cyberdyne Systems Model 101", and in Terminator 3, the Terminator refers to himself as a "T-101".
However, other sources contradict this designation. On the T2 Extreme Edition DVD, he is referred to as an 800 series and a T-800.[3] The T3 extras refer to him as an "850 series Model 101", a "T-850", and a "T-101".
In the T2 commentary, Cameron states that the Model 101s all look like Schwarzenegger, with a 102 looking like someone else, leading to speculation that the 101 refers to the physical appearance while the 800 refers to the endoskeleton common to many models. A scene deleted from the theatrical cut, but restored in the Terminator 2 Special Edition, lends the most credence to this explanation. In this scene, John and Sarah shut down The Terminator for modification according to his instructions. When he reboots, the upper-left of his HUD reads "Cyberdyne Systems Series 800 Model 101 Version 2.4".
Basically we are both right
