Yeah, shit title is shit :mokken:

Just had an idea, which can work both within Tantalus and also for competitive play with Cruxis.

For those of us with streaming capabilities/recording capabilities, perhaps organise 'speed runs' of certain games? :hmmm: Could be a way to bring in some fresh competition, and for those of us with more entertaining games on the PS1 or 2, for instance, can still get involved. And with streaming/recording, it's hard to lie about where you are and shizz :monster:

Thoughts and shizz? :hmmm:

I will own a bitch in Zelda: Link to the Past. I call this one right fucking now. :mokken: (I can complete that game in just a couple of hours)

All in all, it's a good idea. I plan on doing some hardcore streaming here soon. :hmmm:

I actually like the idea of speedruns, however i dont think streaming speedruns would be something we shouldn't put for highly time consuming games, possibly for boss speedruns maybe for those types?

Games that come to mind for speedruns, or TT's:

Mario Kart (best lap time)
Tekken Series (fastest TT playthrough)
Dead or Alive Series (fastest TT playthrough)
FF Series (Boss/Area Runs)
Dissidia (fastest TT completion)
RE Series (fastest completion time)

That is just a shortlist for now, there are plenty more to add but we need to keep in account that speed runs do require an enormous amount of prep time for longer, less pick up and play games and some people will just not have simply the time to participate.

Well we don't necessarily need to play a straight run of a game (FF9 for instance would take an estimate of roughly 30 hours if you play normally :hmmm:)

Could just do it in stages, go at your own pace so it isn't such a chore :wacky: like maybe (using FF9 as an example here) playing through to Ice Cavern, stop for a few hours or something, start up again and stop at Lindblum etc etc.

Makes it more available to people who don't have all the time in the world to game :monster:

I'm already somewhat planned for this... ish. xD
I have a RE2 speedrun recorded on ustream already with a time of about 1:15. :andry:
The only speedruns I want to do are that kind, RE speedruns, I always do them anyway, I don't like RPG speedruns. I prefer to take my time with those.

So if we do do this that'll be all i'll participate in, but I don't think anyone else who can stream can stream RE. :sad3:

/clearly not a RE fanboy

I could probably try it on RE4 when I get settled and get internets etc etc

Someone will have to instruct me in sorting out streaming though :jtc:

You'll need a capture card for console games, unless you either have a) A good quality webcam (unlikely) or b) A video recorder (which I don't think can be used for streaming).

It basically just goes from the console to the scart lead, then around to the PC/laptop and projects the image on it...or.. something. :gasp:

Then I assume you go to the livestream site and it... Connects through that or something? :hmmm:

... I'll just make you show me when i'm capable of doing it :jtc:

XD
Most people I know use livestream, but I use ustream as that can connect directly to my capture card (and thus directly to my screen) so I don't have to faff about with many of the settings.
Livestream's more for recording stuff off your screen (PC games etc), ustream can do that too but I think the only program that works with it is manycam, which has a watermark, but if you have a capture card you just link directly to that.

Oh right, i'll have to keep that in mind when I have internets and buy myself a capture card. I assume I just buy them from PC world or something? :hmmm:

I think if I did an RE4 run i'd annoy everyone with Leon fanwanking/raging at the bosses while I fail hard :sad3:
