Brief overview

5 years have passed since Ultemecia has been vanquished. The world seems to be in a state better than it has ever been. There have been no wars, no fights and no bloodshed. People look to be enjoying life, rather than fighting for it.

Squall and his companions: Zell, Quistis, Irvine, Selphie and Rinoa, have since taken control of Balamb Garden; choosing to focus on the preservation of SeeD and the development of Balamb Garden. SeeD were still needed. They provided a feeling of re-assurance to the world.

The helm of Balamb Garden was handed to Squall, by Headmaster Cid; who decided it was time for him to reconcile his marriage with Edea. Squall was the same reserved, withdrawn person he used to be, but he knew how to look after the Garden.
Whilst things were running smoothly, small resistance factions were beginning to form around the world. They believed that Galbadia and Balamb Garden(s) were just soldier breeding machines looking to overthrow regions and continents.

The factions were worrying Squall. Well trained, experienced, dangerous. They used specialist weapons and magic. One thing that particularly caught Squalls attention was the use of a gunblade. There were only 2 people in the world he knew of that had mastered this weapon. Himself...and Seifer.

Important Info

As the title suggested, that was a very brief overview. I would go into much much more detail if there is enough interest. I've got a couple of thoughts and would really appreciate some feedback.

Here's the character list. They're not all essential:

-Squall
-Zell
-Irvine
-Quistis
-Selphie
-Rinoa
-Seifer
-Laguna
-Cid
-Edea

The other possibility, which I'm open to and I think could work well, is the introduction of characters that don't exist in the FFVIII world we're familiar with. Now, stay with me! The story I've got in mind will require a few characters that play the evil role, but will need to be created by you guys. I'm thinking 3 or 4 solid evil characters would make it interesting.

Once these are created and look good - I'll PM you the story/events I have in mind (but won't reveal it all, obviously).
Personally, I think it could make for a great storyline. This way, the people playing the evil characters can post in a way which leads up to a big event, while at the same time the good guys don't exactly know what's going to happen. It makes for an RP which forces people to roll with the punches.

Do people think this would work, or does it sound a bit strange?

Let me know if you're interested. Feedback would be greatly appreciated :D

Can we make original Characters who are good guys, after reading the overview it looks like a good storyline, and i don't like taking cannon characters. i prefer making my own characters makes me able to play the character better if they are of my own making.

That sounds good to me. I don't see it as absolutely essential that cannon characters are taken up. For example, it's not going to ruin the story if Selphie isn't used. Not because no one likes her XD, but because the story would just adapt.

So feel free to make your own characters. It makes sense! Just a note then for people that may want to join, just because there are cannon characters doesn't mean you can't create your own. Feel free.

Sounds.....interresting...I'll keep an eye out for this one.

Hmm, I didn't want to give too much away story-wise, but I think I need to go into it more. How else are people going to join XD

I've edited the OP slightly, it explains it better. Basically, the resistance groups are being formed and led by Seifer. He wants them to keep SeeD busy while he focuses on his main goal - summoning Griever.

That makes it sound a bit better!

I'd love to take up the mantle of villain in this RP! My idea was to play a Galbadian former soldier and current politician. Someone in charge of a new political fraction which rose to prominence in the power vacuum left by Sorceress Edea and Vinzer Deling. He'd be in favour of Galbadian territorial expansion and abolishing the Gardens due to their interference (ie. kidnapping and assassination attempts on Galbadian leaders) 5 years ago. Let me know if that sounds good, and I'll whip up a bio as soon as/if I get the get-go :)

That sounds good to me.

As you may have seen from a couple of posts back, I want the main plot of the story to be based upon Seifer trying to revive Griever. I don't see why there can't be other villains though. From what you've mentioned in you post, Sir Kenneth, your guy looks perfect to work with Seifer...

What do you think buddy?

Sounds good to me!

I'll make sure to work Seifer into the bio. It will be up some time during Sunday. It's 5 in the morning down here, so the creative juices aren't exactly flowing at the moment :kelly:

I'm not surprised XD

Awesome, glad we've got someone on board! Work Seifer into your bio however you think would work well. Obviously just remember that his goal is to summon Griever. Whether your character knows about that is up to you ;)

Here we go:

Name: Sebastian Thor
Age: 32
Nationality: Galbadian

Equipment/weapon(s): Thor is a gifted swordsman and carries his trusted sabre on his person at all times. This weapon is similar in appearence to the briquet used by the French army during the Napoleonic wars, but sports a larger polished silver handguard with the Galbadian flag etched into it.

Appearance: Thor is muscular yet lean and roughly 6 feet 2 inches tall. His hair is black peppered with white around the temples and it is cropped short in typical military fashion. He has dark grey eyes and a handsome face with a strong jaw, high cheek bones, and an aquiline nose.

During public appearances, Thor can usually be seen wearing suits and his trademark Galbadian flag cufflinks. Away from the public, his attire is a bit more practical though. Here he usually sports the traditional maroon uniform of a Galbadian officer, a heavy dark grey trench coat, and Galbadian military issue boots.

Personality: A gifted orator with a winning smile and a down to earth attitude, Thor seems far removed from former Galbadian leaders like Vinzer Deling, and it is not hard to see why he remains such a popular figure.

As a political leader and military leader, Thor is ruthless though, and he does not have any qualms about using force to achieve his goals (though he usually does so covertly). Thor remains one of the most dangerous threats to the Gardens and he will stop at nothing to bring them under Galbadian control.

History: Sebastian Thor was born in Windhill 32 years ago. On his father's side he came from a family with a strong military tradition, and at the age of 10, he was sent away to Galbadia Garden to start his formal education. Thor graduated from Galbadia Garden at the age of 17 and immediately joined the Galbadian army as a Paratrooper. Thor quickly distinguished himself as a ruthless soldier of exceptional skill, and by the time of the Galbadian invasion of Dollet 10 years later, Thor was already an officer with years of leadership experience under his belt. In the Galbadian expansion that followed the invasion of the Dukedom of Dollet, he took part in many engagements. Among them the attack on Balamb Garden and the invasion of Esthar.

After the failed invasion of Esthar, many Galbadian soldiers opted to leave the army. Thor did not initially want to do so, but the death of Vinzer Deling and the disappearance of Sorceress Edea (then possessed by Ultimecia) had left the Galbadian army without direction and leadership. Ultimately he had to realise that the war was over and had not other choice but to return home. Civilian life in the village of Windhill was not to his liking though, and he soon made the move to Deling City. Here he founded the New Galbadia Front: A political party which would see Galbadian expansion renewed and Galbadia restored to its former glory.

Over the next 5 years, the New Galbadia Front continued to gain in public support. Many of the party's initial supporters were veteran soldiers from the war 5 years past, but as time went on, it grew in popularity among young Galbadians who were itching for a fight with Galbadia's enemies of old. There are still many people who consider the New Galbadia Front to be radical nationalists, but they are slowly and surely winning over more people and some think that Thor may very well be next in line for the Galbadian presidency.

Politics and relationships with the Gardens: As leader of the New Galbadian Front, Thor is a strong advocate for aggressive territorial expansion. After the kipnapping and assassination attempts on Galbadian leaders orchestrated by Balamb and Galbadia Garden 5 years ago, he remains a staunch critic of their operations and wish to see their autonomy put to an end.

Officially the New Galbadia Front pleads a policy of political non-interference as long as it does not hold the Galbadian presidency. The truth is far more sinister though. The New Galbadia Front in responsible for many attacks on SeeD operatives and sharing a common hatred for the Gardens with Seifer, has been supplying him with weaponry and Galbadian war veterans for his work against them. The public knows nothing about any of this, though SeeD has its suspicions.

The New Galbadia Front seeks only to further the influence of the nation of Galbadia and knows nothing of Seifer's plans to summon Griever.

Cracking bio Sir Kenneth.

Hopefully we'll get some more interest in the RP soon. If not, I'll close this thread and re- think a few things; maybe write the story up in greater depth :D

I'd be interested in playing Squall, assuming you've not claimed him already?

I can post a bio, but there is one available for you to see at
http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/t...nal-fantasy-viii-the-twilight-hour-36312.html

First page second post, obviously parts will be changed to suit this RP as that bio was for another RP where certain things had been laid out for us.

Also if you are interested as to how I RP in the role see:
http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/t...nal-fantasy-viii-the-twilight-hour-36464.html

From the third post onwards.

:D

I think due to lack of interest, I should perhaps call it a day with this RP. Give me some time to think it through more and put it across in a more appealing way, and I might do it again.

Thanks for your interest to the guys who posted, much appreciated.
