Students Kicked Off Campus For Wearing American Flag

There was one example a few years ago of something similar. A Mexican restaurant hung a US flag on it's pole BELOW the Mexican flag ON Independence Day...

Imagine doing the reverse on May 5th. Admittedly, most people wouldn't even notice. But down in the southwest, the whole bloody region would explode.

I read the article originally on Drudge Report, and really the American kids were doing it to start crap by recognizing what Arizona's new law might mean for Mexicans. But the way the immigrants (whether legal or illegal) reacted was basically reinforcing stereotypes and couple decade long beliefs of why immigrants, and especially illegals, should be forcibly removed from the country.

And I've not even gotten into the fact that this situation with the t-shirts is just evidence that illegals apparently hold more political power now than nationals...

You live in America, and your going to get in toruble wear an american flag shirt/ other apparel? Well we've hit the bottom of the shitter. Who cares if it's cinco de maio? I don't have to celebrate it if i don't want to. If people are offneded by what i wear, they can go somewhere else or fucking get over it. You don't see stores getting rid of their Christmas merch during Honnakah do you? No. It's the same idea, and i don't think people should be forced to NOT wear something when they want to. So much for america being "free". Can't even support the damn country on another nationalities holiday...

Agreed. It's really quite sad, actually.

Not to mention, Americans are NOT obligated to honor or celebrate the Mexican Holiday in America. If Hispanics want to celebrate Mexico's independence, they can go to Mexico to do that. And if they're Hispanic in America, they're not Mexicans anymore, they're Americans--they should honor and celebrate the country they're permanently living in, not the country they fled.

And I'm not saying they should forget their history or act like they're not Mexicans, but if they're living in America, celebrate America. And definitely don't try and tell Americans that we have to honor the Mexican holiday in America.

We're not Mexicans(talking about the country region, not the race) and we do not live in Mexico, therefor we are not obligated to honor or celebrate Mexico in anyway, at least while we're in America.

If they have a problem with Americans wearing the American flag on ANY holiday for another country, they can easily go back to the country they so deeply want to celebrate and honor. If they don't wanna do that, then they need to zipper up and let Americans wear the American flag on what ever day they want.

Ok, lets see if I can get this straight. These kids were wearing a typical t-shirt that had an American Flag on it? Or was it the actual flag they were wearing? I'll give my responses accordingly.

If it's a regular t-shirt with an American Flag, then the kids did absolutely nothing wrong. Hell, I salute these kids for showing their patriotism to our country. Most American's are anti-American these days, especially the younger generation, because it's cool to hate. But these kids are flying the American colors, good for them. For the politics behind it, regardless of who the holiday is for, it's on American soil. A person flying the American colors in America has never, and will never, be a crime, regardless if it's a holiday in respect to another country. Lets not lose sight of the fact that these kids weren't being racist in any way, shape or form, they were just showing their respect for the country they live in. It's not like they made slurs to Mexican American's whilest pointing to their shirts. So does that mean we can't wear a shirt with the American flag on Kwanzaa because it's a holiday for African countries? I'm sorry, this is our country, and we have a right to show our love for it.

If they were wearing contents of the flag as a shirt, then that is wrong. Even American's should not disrespect the American flag like that, it's wrong. A shirt is great, but don't wear the actual flag.

But California is Mexican land, until the America decided they wanted it.
Why should people be forced to 'go home if they don't like it' etc etc? Does anyone know if where the people were born? No. They could just as easily be Americans of Mexican descent, so they are home. All this go home shite is just racism. It's basically saying if you don't intergrate into society and act like whitey, then fuck off. It could very easily be an attempt by the guy/s wearing the shirt to provoke or offend the Mexican population.

Hell, yeah!

Don't apologize. You're right 100%, man. THIS is America. We don't have to respect or celebrate any other Country on American soil. And we definitely don't have to be ashamed of the flag our Country-men have fought for for the last 300 years.

England lost America. Is that the same thing?

"Whitey" :britt:

Why would the American flag as a T-shirt "provoke" or "offend" the Hispanic Americans? They're freaking American in America!

If the American flag does "provoke" or "offend" anyone on any day, they obviously missed this one special little document;
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all."

ITT: Schools have a lot of stupid, arbitrary rules.

Reminds me of back in the day when this kid got expelled or suspended from school for getting his hair dyed blue. It was pretty ridiculous.

Edit: I want to add a little bit more to this post.

I'm going to tell you guys a story about how I stabbed a kid with a pencil in the first grade and only got suspended for a week.

oh wait. -_________-

well there you go :monster:

IMO it is their right to wear shirts like that on any day of the year. However doing it on Cinco de Mayo is just asking for trouble. You are proud of your country i get that, but don't go out of your way to hate on another one when it is the only day they get to truly be proud of where they came from. I think that the boys should have shown respect for Cinco de Mayo. I think that the administrators made the right decision to avoid a fight and maybe an all out riot.

I'm all for being proud of your national heritage and all that jazz, but why is it so offending to wear a tv of you country you LIVE in on anothers day of celebration? IF anything they should celebrate both countries and not be all anal about what the hel people wear.

It really irks me when people think just because they have a holiday for a specific nation they can give peopel a hard time about what they wear. Were not a dictator ship, were a democracy. Since when did he police or any authority figure have any say as to what can and cannot be warn? And I'm not talking about being in school, althouhg they are on school grounds. I just find it ludicris that they got punished for something they believe in.

Any students that riot over a bloody American flag T-shirt either deserve to be deported or expelled, depending on their immigration status. Simply because fighting for your beliefs may upset people doesn't mean it's the wrong thing to do.
