Well i was shocked when i noticed this - before the final batlle Necron says :

Fear Leads To Anger
Anger Leads To hate
Hate Leads to Suffering

Now forgive me if im wrong but Yoda first said those lines in the empire strikes back - Couldnt like Square be sued or something for using those lines???

Unless it was an easter egg or something lol but you know Necron cant just walk in say those lines then be one of the hardest bosses lol i wonder if Any other FF games have stolen lines from SW movies?

lol Yeah, you're actually right! Wow. Cool. Imagine this:

Necron *floats up to Zidane*: Zidane, I am your father.

Zidane: *stares* ...

Necron: Join me Zidane, adn we shall return this dimension into the Zero world.

Zidane: You little bastard... *Cuts Necron's head open with Ultima Weapon double-bladed lightsaber*

Necron: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! *begins to fade into darkness* You can not destroy your father...*fades into darkness*

Zidane: O shut up you great blue thing. get a life.

Enter Cloud and Garnet making out.

Zidane: AHHHH!!! NOOO!!! You're cheating on me! You bitch! *kills Garnet with the Ultima Weapon 2x blade lightsaber.

Cloud: Ahh! You killed my hunny-bun! Omnislash! *performs Omnislash v5*

Zidane *dies*: AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!

Enter Tifa

Tifa: YOUR HUNNY BUN! *cracks Cloud's head open with her fist* Bastard... *walks away with a malicious grin*

A very umm... interesting story there Hera.

I actually noticed that those lines were ripped from Star Wars the first time I played the game. I don't know if they can get sued, but it would be interesting to find out if Lucas knows about it.

Wow, that's really weird! Those are exactly the words from Star Wars!

I'm sure though if they were going to take legal action or anything it would've been done by now...It's been out a while!

no, no, you see, its a translation problem....if nothing else, just think of "All your base are belong to us". DEFINITELY the most stupid translater ever, but what're you going to do. It probably meant SOMETHING like that, but they wouldn't use the exact words, and besides, no legal action would be taken because Lucas never made those words his(I can't think of the actual term at the moment, sry).

Yes, that is true...it could all be in the translation.

And I'm not quite sure of the copyright issues with movie lines either....*scratches head*

yes but didnt he copyright them??? im sure he did....after all when attacok of the clones - or was it the phantom menace came out they were everywhere on the posters and everything lol

Thing is though, those lines (to my knowledge) were not trademarked or copyrighted by Star Wars, and therefore they can't sue or anything. Its a sweet phrase, and one that comes to mind easily when thinking philosophically. Hell, that's the epicentre of all philosophical debates about the source and consequences of hatred

This is stupid.
You cant copyright dialogue.
If that were the case, producers would have to pay Lucas everytime they made a film where someone says "I am your father".

Also, In FF8 Squall says "Damn you, Seifer!" which is what Trinity says at one point in The Matrix.

I also think that the "Anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" etc. is from a proverb so George Lucas stole it anyway.

FF games are very well known for taking many things from Star Wars. Like Wedge and Biggs from FF7, names of pilots in Original Star Wars movies.

It kind of breaks the whole hell mood though. You hear Necron talking in whatever voice you give them, then you hear a muppet talking....
btw, two words: Biggs and Wedge. The last three FFs(before 9) have all had characters with those names.

Omg when I first saw that line in FFIX I thought..."oh no he didn't"...
At least if you're going to jack a line, make it something that isn't so obvious. LOL.

Yeah I know... FF6... a corrupt empire built on ancient powers, and a small band of rebels trying to stop them, with the somewhat lead character that has ties with the empire and having otherworldly powers... Kinda sounds like episodes 4-6 to me... if you think about it...

Also Biggs and Wedge were in FF6 too, they were the two Magitek pilots in the very beginning, that escorted Terra to Narshe...

Any Final Fantasy game borrows references all the time ... it isn't copyright, it's merely acknowledging influences. If you've ever read Terry Pratchett in his Discworld books, you'll know what I'm on about. Final Fantasy takes the ordinary world, along with its legends, religions and myths, flips it on its head, and presents us with a new world that we can gain enjoyment out of because we can refer to our own world. :)

This is the magic of Final Fantasy.

Its no secret that the guys at Square are Star Wars fans, so I'm not suprised. I've never noticed this before so cheers for bringing it up.

I wish Biggs and Wedge would come back to the seires. They were missing from IX as far as I know as well as X-2. Needed better parts in X definitly haha
