Starfire Sigs

Yeah, I know where your coming from on all those points, im aware that it needs some improvements, Ill work on it when i get a chance.
Ive put my paperwork to one side though (paperwork = FFVII playthrough (Y)) so i must get back to that for half an hour.

Edit: Heres a new one, please comment as appropiate. I think im getting the hang of this now, i enjoyed making this one also.

Ok so this one is an improvement on the 'Power of SOLDIER' Sig, To be honest i think its a MASSIVE improvement, Enjoy and comment people

This one took me quite a while! But the help from tutorials etc really paid off,
Id say that this is my best one yet.
My main focus was making the text less 'In your Face' which i hope i did.

Your sigs are starting to look a little bit too much alike so try and branch out into other styles and different tutorials. Planetrenders and premiumrenders (.com) have a great number of character renders and C4D/abstract renders for you to use. I think you have to sign up to get the HQ ones though.
Try and keep the effects and background less busy and use colours that work well together. The purple and yellow don't match all that well and there seems to be a division over Cloud's right shoulder (my left). Also, try and make the effects flow a little bit, for example, the swirly effects to the left kinda look out of place IMO.
The text is better though. Like you said, less in your face. Try and use different fonts and mix font styles e.g. sans serif with handwritten/calligraphy. It just needs a bit more oomf if you know what I mean. Even the best people have said they mess up their text though. Text is notoriously hard to get right.

I found it best to follow tutorials to the letter when I started out, but that's just my opinion. KIU!
 
Ahh I understand, Im on PlanetRenders, and ill make sure to sign up to the other one.

In the mean time I took on board what you said and tried something different, I have had trouble with the text though. but all in all i dont think its a bad effort...

Ok, Ive had a read through a tutorial on smudging and other nice lovely effects.
This was my practise sig:

Im actually rather impressed with it, it didnt turn out as bad as i thought it would....
 
Much better. I like the background effects and I think you used the ripple filter which is a nice touch.
Remember to keep text close to the focal point though, and make sure it's legible. The words Chrono Trigger are a bit hard to read.
And don't blur the render!!! It should be the focus of the signature :gasp: Also, I would move it to the left a bit more.

Imagine your canvas is split up like this. It's just a rule of thumb to place your text / render on the points where the lines intersect. This doesn't always apply but it does look nice when you do.
 
OK, I get the feeling that those helpful words will be VERY useful.

I actually used an images as a background here, i used the smudge, burn and dodge tool quite a bit.
But again with text. it just does not look right, i cant seem to find a way to make it look right either....

OK, made this one in the same sort of style as the Chrono Trigger one,

ok, so ive been looking at tutorials, and ive started work with C4Ds, heres two of the same design just a difference in colour. Give me opinions!

I like it haha are you like planning to be a Sig distributor or something haha your going to have a huge catalog in like a couple weeks haha :P Well I don't need a new one at all this one you gave me is staying for a while :D.
