Seifer & Laguna

In case you don't remember, when we see Laguna filming a movie called "The Sorceress' Knight" he wields a gunblade like Seifer's and adopts a pose and style we see Seifer do several times in the game.

So, did Seifer watch the movie and take the idea from there? He did check out books on the Sorceress Knight thing as well so it could be possible.

Personally, i just think Square were being lazy, used that pose and hoped no one would notice

Really? I never noticed. But if that were the case, then that theory may be possible, but I really doubt it. It's an interesting idea though.

I just...don't remember about Seifer checking out Sorceress Knights books. >.>

I remember somewhere in the library I think or no on the computer or maybe on the notice in the classroom there is a notice from the library on overdue books and Seifer's name pops up on the sorceress' knight book.

I'll look into it soon (Since I plan on playing this again soon now) and while it would be ironic, I don't remember it being in there. Besides, Laguna was just a really great and funny guy while Seifer honestly believed himself the "Sorcess's knight," so he might have gotten the idea from there, but he also perfected it. :p

Ah I remember now. It was in the very beginning of the game.

Hmm, then yeah, I'm now more prone to believe that can very well be the case then. I really should pay more attention to the very smallest details in the game.

Was that in there? Gah, now I'll HAVE to find it. I do love when the creators put in little useless but ironic story making tidbits like that. It makes it so much more entertaining.

I'm a huge fan of irony though. :)

I'm a little confused why Squall's name is in the title of the post

But anyways, I've read a few fanfics where Seifer got the idea from watching the movie when he was a kid.

And while it was a nice and wholesome "be a hero for the people" idea, Ultimecia comes and f*cks it up :O

Poor Seifer...

I don't think Seifer is the type to like when people feel bad for him. :p

Laguna was a G-soldier, and that was how he was taught to use a gunblade, i think he even says 'i havent used one of these since training'.
The fact that seifer uses it like that is linking seifer to galabadia.
That even when he is being trained by the garden his intentions arent entirely pure

Too bad for him :P

He just needs a hug after getting mind-f*cked by Ultimecia >_<

Yeah, I remember Laguna saying that.

But about Seifer's intentions; who actually does have pure intentions really? I mean Squall didn't care about that; he was in Garden 'cause he simply was and just wanted to complete his obligation as a mercenary; Nida was all world-domination after the SeeD exams, Selphie just wanted to do the festival, etc.

I dare say Cid was the only one with pure intentions for Garden, and even that get's a tad hazy after a while

Seifer was never trained as a soldier, and therefore wouldn't know that stance from there. Perhaps that is simply the normal gunblade stance, and Squall chooses to alternate his by making it more of a sword instead of a gun.

I would think would be more likely since Seifer never tried to be a soldier and would have been in Garden since young young age.

The pose Seifer does at the start is a speeded up but exact copy of Laguna's pose in the move with teh slash, slash, then bringing the gunblade up in front of his face.

Ahaha that's a silly idea. ^.^

What I don't get...
is that Laguna was under Squall's control at that point in the game...Laguna wasn't fighting the dragon, Squall was! So it was Squall who used that fighting stance, which is very odd, because that is Seifer's fighting style, and we never see Squall fight that way any other time in the game.
=]

he doesnt control him though does he?
Laguna and co say they could hear squall's and everyone else's voices in their heads.
I dont think they controlled them though

Well obviously they did control them if they have the exact same stats that Squall and co. have when they're in battle...not to mention that you're literally moving Laguna across the screen. XD

As a matter of fact, I don't think Laguna had any control over his conscience...he still had a loud mouth when Squall's conscience was inside of him...but you literally controlled his every move. (Well...save a select few).

(LOL, why did you add spoiler tags to that; everyone who played the game knows that :P)

That's a good point, but for the most part Squall and co are more like voyeurs when it came to events. Laguna probably controlled his own movements with the one-on-one battle against the dragon, but obviously Squall and the others were controlling their actions during the normal battle.

Although, the fangirl is me wants to say that Squall and Seifer were
rivals and even inadvertent training partners, thus Squall probably learned some stuff from Seifer 'cause he loves-er, um, respects him so much :P

EDIT: Ah, I guess there was some posting while I was slowly typing up mine :P
