BE WARNED: The things in spoiler tags may, in fact, be spoilers.

My Final Fantasy XIII-2 Limited Edition guide arrived today (before the game has even been dispatched!) and I've been reading through it. There are some details about one novel which is soon to be released... I am guessing most people will react negatively to this. ;) :wacky:

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Guide said:
Snow's story [from when he leaves Serah] up to when he
met a fal'Cie
will be revealed in an official novel to be published soon in Japan.

No mention in the guide of a US/UK/EU release. I can't say I would want to read the novel...but it'd be nice to know and understand the details of his story. I am guessing most of them will appear on the internet in some form. :lew:

ALSO, news in the guide on Sahz and Dajh. Dasuke Watanabe said 'the full details of this story will be revealed in a planned DLC release.'

DW also states that they're planning to release DLC which will reveal more about Lightning.
SPOILER about THE END below:
It is implied that we'll learn more about why she was taken to Valhalla, why she turns into crystal at the end of the game and her role in the future of the world.

None of these really seem to resolve the ending of XIII-2... However, what I have read does suggest that, if there is a XIII-3, it will be incredible and will wrap up everything that has happened in the XIII series.

I still have high hopes for this series and believe that, even if the story spans across 3 games, novels and DLC, it will end up being another success. Try not to lose hope in Square yet!

Doesn't this count more as spoilers than news? :hmmm:

Either way...none of that really sounds very exciting. But between DLC and a new game, I'd take DLC to wrap everything up, purely because I think a new game would either kill me or make the fanbase explode. Or both, although I'm not sure in which order the events would occur. It could go either way.

I think it was fairly obvious Square Enix were going to look at the other characters in novels and DLC scenarios, though...after all, the development time between XIII and XIII-2 was too short for them to make XIII-2 a proper game which covered every character. Plus sporadic DLC releases = more money, and I imagine that one of the major complaints from fans of this series would be that 80% of the former cast were effectively written off.

Well, there are further details about planned content and how the stories of certain characters will be revealed in the future, but if it is more 'spoilers' related, apologies. :ness:

I suppose DLC would be better than DLC AND a third game because having to get both would cost a lot of money... If they were planning a XIII-3, they should have included the DLC in the game, or points with which to buy some of the DLC. On the one hand, they state that they're trying to give the gamers extra bits, to make the game more exciting, as details are released across several months, which isn't a bad idea. However, the cynical side of me (which is rather quiet) says that money is always a priority with big businesses. :lew:

I really am in two minds about the whole thing.

Oh, I think Square Enix have proved that they're more about money than they are about giving gamers the full experience: I mean, you only have to look at the ridiculously short development time for XIII-2, and now the DLC which could have just as easily been included with the game if they had taken the extra time to finish it.

I suppose you can argue that they wanted to get it out there as fast as possible and, now that it HAS been released, they're adding life to it, but...well, I'm a cynic, and having to buy a ton of DLC to get the full planned story after a game has been released really pisses me off, because it effectively means I'm paying more for content I should already have.

Seriously- you have to give a hint what the spoiler is about especially if it isn't really linked to the previous sentence.

For instance you have:
"DW also states that they're planning to release DLC which will reveal more about Lightning."

Typically the spoiler you would think next would address the potential DLC or "reveal more about how lightening"- not give away the ending of the game.

I will agree with Rydrum on this. I thought it was about the DLC and not a major spoiler about the end of the game. I probably just ruined the ending for myself.

@HolyDragoon My humblest apologies. I thought I'd prevent spoiling the game for people by putting the spoilers in spoiler tags. :( :ness:

Shu Would you mind moving this to a more suitable section?

Normally I don't click spoilers that I know are going to spoil main plotline. I guess it was just the way you worded it that made me think it was safe. Oh well. You've changed it now, so others don't make the same mistake =)

If XIII-2 was released and there was no mention of DLC, would you be satisfied with the game as it is?
