Facts:
  • Yuna says: "Why, that's the day that Jecht came to Spira. It's true! I first met Jecht ten years and three months ago!"
  • She met him the day he arrived.
  • It takes Sin 10 years to reform.
  • Father Zuke was a summoner guarded by Wakka and Lulu.
  • Father Zuke attempted the pilgrimage 1 year before Tidus arrived.
Math:
  • 10 Years & 3 Months - 10 Years = 3 Months.
  • 3 Months - 1 Year = -9 Months
Conclusions:
  • That means that between the start of Braska's journey and Tidus's arrival, the people of Spira only had to endure 3 months of Sin total.
  • Braska did his trip in under 3 months?
  • How long was Sin around this time? Couldn't have been long.
  • Why was Father Zuke preparing to defeat Sin before Sin even reformed?

I'm sorry to stomp on your maths but it doesn't take 10 years for sin to respawn it depends on the Summoner and Final Aeon who defeat Sin. So theoreticly it took less than ten years for sin to Respawn.

yeah i think zknight hit it on the head there i don't remember it saying anywhere that it takes ten years to respawn

Jecht was locked up in a jail cell, where Braska and Auron had him released, which is when Braska requested for him to be his guardian. We do not actually know how long Jecht was locked up, or how long he was in Spira before being arrested, so it's likely Yuna did not actually meet him on the day of his arrival.

Plus, it says in the game, the length of the Calm isn't a set amount of time. It's random, so it's not 10 years every time a summoner beats Sin.

Plus, it seems more likely that the Calm Breska brought last less than ten years. Sin is already causing terror in Spira when Tidus arrives, and Operation Mi'hen was already planned, which would've took some time.

Yo you think th Dude who made this thread created a new math to work all that out?Chah!

Do you really think the albhed would stop the summoners from there pilgrimage
if sin came back every 10 YEARS....rediculous! LIke the guy up there says Jecht was in his prison cell for god knows how long, SIN May not even be defeated every time a summoner takes him/her on it could take several attempts.

It says know where in FFX that the Final Summomimg is a sure thing!

Actually Sin is constent when Yu Yeven has an aeon to invest that means that Sin only takes as long as it takes Yu Yeven to go into an aeon.
(this is stated in the game just not word for word.)

I could have sworn that they mentioned it was ten years of peace as soon as they left Luca... but I can't find anything online to confirm that.

A period of time would then pass where this "baby Sin" would grow and not threaten the citizens of Spira. This period, which is variable in length, is known as the Calm.

Now also it says that Sin is that unholy armor of Yu Yeven.

Check about 6 minutes in... it's why I got confused. Apparently it had been 10 years since Braska defeated Sin. We do not know how long the calm lasted between when Sin was defeated by Braska and when he reappeared. The whole theory is busto... but at least I know where I got the 10 years from now.

So are we all on the same page now?
Sin can come right back or he can take forever coming back. Pretty much Yu Yeven has to fully change the aeon.

Well the Aeon needs time to grow into full-fledged sin no? Depending on the Aeon (Jecht wasn't exactly that big really) the time for that can vary.

Another thing to consider for Summoners journeys and plans such as Operation Mi'hen is that the people know that Sin will be coming back. They could just be preparing for the next arrival of Sin instead of just hanging about.

With Operation Mi'hen though, Sin Spawn played a major part in it. So for them to capture the Sinspawn to lure Sin, Sin would've had to have been already there. That part couldn't have been done during the Calm.

No, but they could have been collecting them for years to research. And I was never confused about what happened with Yu Yevon during the calm... only how long it took. I thought it was a set amount of time. It's not. End of story.

Sin always comes back for it's spawn, as was the plan for Operation Mi'hen. So I doubt the Crusaders and Al Bhed could've held them for years to research them, as Sin would've come back, destroyed everything in sight and taken his spawn back.

It does say he comes back for them, but it also says that they have to call out to him. So they could have been keeping them content while preparing for the operation.

Yeah, but to be able to hold them for years without them breaking free, or calling out while they are being researched seems highly unlikely.

Considering a summoner, Maester and the "world's best guardian" got a good fight out've just one of them, I can't see them being able to hold Sinspawn for that long in a sense of a year or longer without them going beserk and ripping the crusaders to shreds or calling Sin itself.

its does not specifically say that it takes 10 years to respawn, but they did say in the game that braska's calm lasted for 10 years

and its possible that father zuke wanted to be ready for sin as soon as he came back so that spira wouldn't have to deal with Sin for very long, ya know be prepared

and galaxy, they may not have said that final summoning is a sure thing but Yevon did say that its the only way to do it, or at least that they new of, and if they repent for their sins then there would be a chance that sin won't come back, thats the false hope that they were given
