The Story

Twenty years ago, an organisation only known as Varner Incorporated were instructed by the government to create a programme that would create the perfect agents for the CIA. Shortly after, Varner Inc. discovered some intriguing data that would accompany them on their project. The best soldiers in America were recruited to the company with promises that they would be the faces of future peacetime. Unfortunately, they were deceived. Enslaving them, the organisation turned nasty and forced both genders into conceiving a foetus.

The first five female soldiers to conceive were spared and the rest of the soldiers – both male and female – were slaughtered, as to not spread the word of what Varner Inc. were planning. Throughout the pregnancies, the five mothers were subjected to horrifying tests and experiments. As a result, each mother died after giving childbirth.

With each child – three boys and two girls – allegedly possessing different traits and abilities from the experiments in the womb, they were watched for the first few years of their lives. To further expand on their research, the head of Varner Inc. ordered for each child to be separated and designated in different locations with a set of “parents”. The children were deployed across the country. However, one went missing during a tragic car crash and was presumed dead.

Fourteen years later, these children will be reunited after discovering their abilities and having to hide them from the rest of the world. They are either physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally or logically enhanced far much more than the average human. And on the other hand, they have the feeling that they are being watched. Are they paranoid? Or is there something far darker at work here?

Only time will tell, as they will be pushed into a world far beyond their imaginations …

The Powers

Physical - Taken by Jacob Black/Ami - Alexandra Janet "AJ" Roberts

The experiment is an enhancement of the human body, essentially a weapon usually used during wartime. They have heightened senses, seemingly unlimited endurance, reflexes beyond the average human being, unparalleled strength and rapid healing. Their body may seem to be indestructible, however, they can still be severely harmed by extreme measures. Their blood contains healing properties, reminiscent of a phoenix.

Mental - Taken by Stevie Nicks/Mark

The experiment is an enhancement of the human mind, expanding on the capabilities it was previously thought to never do. They can gain access to the mind, move objects and people with their own mind as well as experience visions of the past, present and future. Their brain activity is constantly on the up since they are always aware of what the people around them are thinking. They can also develop psychic bonds with those who they truly make a connection with.

Spiritual - Taken by .Sorbet/Diar - Jacob "Jake" Helatia

The experiment is an enhancement of the human spirit, going further than by its evolution. They have control over the elements, which consist of fire, water, earth, air and energy. They are in a constant state of flux since the elements could adjust their temperature, personality and other factors at any moment.

Emotional - Taken by Subeinu/Svein

The experiment is an enhancement of the human emotions, delving into what triggers feelings. They can sense and manipulate emotions, even bending others to their will. Their energy is constantly up and down, depending on what kind of emotions are in the air. They are also able to develop empathic bonds with those they becomes deeply affectionate with.

Logical - Taken by Seraphyna/Vikki

The experiment is an enhancement of the human intelligence, the process of learning triggered faster. They can instantly figure out anyone or anything they come across. Their brain activity, like the mental one, is highly active since they process vast amounts of information on a daily basis. They are even able to mimic an action and deliver it effortlessly.

Name: Jacob “Jake” Helatia

Age: 17

Gender:
Male

Power:
Spiritual

Personality: Compassionate and kind to others, Jake always sees the good in everyone. Though he can see and accept that there are those who are cruel and remorseless in the world, he doesn't overthink it, and believes that the good outweighs the evil and will always prevail. He has almost never experienced pure evil first hand before, and as such, is still quite naïve to the ways of the world.

Despite this, he will stop being kind if the need comes to tell someone something blunt and to the point to their face. He will often feel uncomfortable doing this, due to his primary kinder traits, but he will put his emotions aside to tell someone the truth if he has to, and he never does it maliciously, only when he thinks it is the best thing to do.

However, he is quite slow to show genuine trust to others, having been hurt before, so while he will show kindness and consideration, genuine trust is rare in him, due to his history. If he ever divulges in someone about this, that person is someone he feels 100% comfortable in telling his secrets and history to. He is shifty and fidgety in telling his secrets to others, and will try to change the subject or get away when the subject arises.

He has a good instinct and a good sense for danger. If something seems off, Jake will usually be the first person to notice this. He can tell when he is walking into danger, and can usually read into danger extremely well, as well as being an excellent judge of character. If someone or something doesn't sit right with him, he will voice his concerns, and try to get away.

He is also a strong believer in fate and destiny, and believes that when something bad happens, it is meant to happen. Because of this, he can get over bad things happening rather quickly, and move on. This has been his philosophy in life for a number of years, and his favourite phrase is "Que sera sera" meaning: Whatever will be will be.

All in all, Jake is a kind, intelligent young man who can speak his mind. He is a little flighty and fidgety, being a bit of a free spirit. But he has a certain magnetism to him that attracts other people to him. He is social, friendly, and to the point, and a loyal, worthwhile friend to have.

Appearance: Standing at five foot seven inches, Jake is slender and short, with a fragile, undefined muscle structure that leaves him somewhat lacking in the physical department. But nevertheless, he is quite agile and nimble, able to get under spots no taller person would be able to reach. He has an average sized, smooth face, with a hint of baby fat to make him seem that much more young and innocent. Because of his height, facial features, and slightly underweight and undefined physique, he can quite easily be mistaken for being younger than he is.

Few blemishes are on his face, just a little minor acne on his chin and forehead, but not enough to deviate from his overall attractiveness. He has dark black hair, laced with streaks of crimson and navy, tousled slightly for a rather chaotic, but attractive look. He has a dazzling smile with perfect teeth, and dark blue, almond shaped eyes. He has quite long eyelashes for a boy, but whether this is because of his lack of accessories to cut his hair with or his actual fashion statement remains to be seen.

Jake wears a pair of dark black jeans. Despite their easy absorption of heat, becoming hot quickly when exposed to sun, he always wears them. He also wears a pair of white trainers splashed with navy and black. They are good for running, and are durable and quite fashionable on top of that, giving Jake everything he needs in a pair of shoes. He also wears a short sleeved white t-shirt underneath his blue leather jean jacket. The jean jacket is a little big for him, but he can never be seen without it.

History: One of the five children born to the mothers experimented on by the government, Jake has little memories of his early life, often remembering nothing other than white coats and metallic objects and a sterile, grey surroundings. As such, he doesn't try particularly hard to remember this aspect of his life. He doesn't believe that he was meant to remember this part of his life, so he doesn't.

After he was moved to a family in Los Angeles, he started school, and grew quite popular due to being naturally witty and confident, earning many friends in a short space of time. He managed to maintain this popularity all the way through kindergarden, elementary school, middle school, and most of high school too.

However, when he was in high school, he got into a relationship with another boy. He had been comfortable with being bisexual for a number of years, but this was his first relationship. Being 15 at the time, he was curious about everything, and was in the relationship more for the emotional aspect than the physical side.

However, the local high school kids weren't fond of a boy on boy relationships, and that was how Jake's reputation went downhill with a number of people. He and his boyfriend got a number of mental bullying, such as dirty stares and threats. Some loyal friends stayed with Jake, but a lot turned on him and joined in with the crowd.

In the end, Jake was beaten up brutally on his way home from school one afternoon, given a black eye and a cracked jawbone. Ater this incident, Jake's boyfriend commited suicide, terrified that he would be next.

In the fashion of most, Jake grieved for his boyfriend of four months and eventually recovered, as most people do, going back to his usual confident self. However, he received a huge intimacy complex, unable to feel truly close to anyone, and not actually wanting to for a huge fear that they'll get hurt. He knows what the potential consequences of that are, but he feels that they're worth it.

Jake also looks forward to his summer visits to see his aunt and uncle in Kansas, where he has made a number of friends, not least of all AJ, a good friend of his who he met on his first visit., a farmer's daughter They became best friends quite quickly, and have remained so each summer when they meet.

Personality
Most of AJ's personality traits are the direct result of her modest farm upbringing. Being very close to both her father and aunt, AJ is respectful, obedient and highly values their approval. Raised with a strong moral background, she does not like invasions of privacy, thinks the bad gys should be punished and wants things to be fair. AJ is also hard-working and usually does not place much value in material possessions.

She is idealistic and has the ability to always find the good in people, which manifests itself into a willingness to trust others to a fault. AJ's optimistic opinions may also be somewhat inherent; while amnesiac a few years ago, she maintained a positive attitude of the people around her. She strongly believes that feelings such as compassion are synonymous to the human race and thinks that they are, on the whole, noble beings.

Ever since discovering that she wasn't entirely human, AJ has often expressed a desire to be human and shows disdain towards her inhuman heritage, probably because she feels her biology hinders her humanity, despite her father and aunt telling her that humanity is more than biology. It deeply affects her when her loved ones suffer because of her secret, as she fails to consider that people who love her would willingly suffer for her and instead blames herself for anything that happens to them.

She considers knowing her secret is a burden for her family to bear and feels she is putting them in danger. She feels guilty about things she has no control over and never really considers herself a heroine. Bearing this in mind, this is why AJ feels she won't be accepted for what she is because she isn't comfortable with herself.

AJ often thinks things through before acting, despite being somewhat impulsive during certain situations. Unsurprisingly, she has a champion complex, willing to try and save lives if she can. AJ has a temper that only comes out when the people she loves are put in danger. She is very comfortable around children and enjoys situations in which he gets to be a "big sister" figure.

Additionally, because she closely guards her secret, AJ can sometimes be dishonest. She seems more mature than her friends, although the discovery of her powers at the age of fifteen may have forced her to grow up. She also uses farm work as an excuse to avoid her problems. AJ has a few ironic traits to her personality: she is afraid of getting hurt, despite the fact that she can survive almost anything and highly values trust in a friendship, despite her constant lies to protect her secret. She is good at history and her interests include playing basketball, horse riding and journalism.

Appearance

AJ is five foot and ten inches tall. She has long blonde hair that extends past her shoulders and innocent blue eyes. She is tall and has a slim figure, although she can be underestimated for being a weakling. Despite the fact that she possesses abilities such as super strength, this is not shown through her body and can often fool everyone around her. Hence, why she is frequently mistaken for being so weak.

She normally wears casual clothes of t-shirts, vest tops, jeans and sneakers. AJ does not like wearing dresses and feels that make-up can be a pain to put on. Essentially, she is a tomboy, but this may be due to her farm upbringing. She also has a faint cresent-shaped scar on the back of her right hand, which fades underneath extremely strong sunlight. AJ wears a silver rose necklace, which her aunt bought her for her twelfth birthday. Her appearance has earned her the nickname of "Farm Girl".

History
Blessed and cursed as one of the child experiments, AJ does not recall the very first five years of her life. In fact, her first memory was being rescued by her adoptive father, Kieran Roberts. She had been involved in a car crash and was subsequently adopted by Kieran. The two moved in with her aunt Susan and the three built a close family unit on the farm in Kansas. AJ's childhood was more or less undisturbed. She was unaware of her active powers for many years. Kieran and Susan both agreed to tell her when she was old enough to handle the truth.

AJ developed a close friendship with one Jacob Helatia over the many years when he has come to visit his aunt and uncle in town. They would spend time together each summer and she counted him as her closest friend above everyone else. They have remained that way each summer when they meet up. She has not felt much of a close connection with anyone else. She has formed friendships with people at school, but they have never come close to what she has with Jake. Because of this, AJ feels closer to her family and confides them with her problems.

However, soon after she started high school, AJ fell in love with a guy named Trey. They started dating, but once she found out he had been unfaithful, she inadvertently and accidentally pushed him out the window. Afraid that she was a hazard to herself as well as everyone else, AJ locked herself in a protective bubble and tried to make sense of recent events. It was shortly after that Kieran and Susan confessed to her that she wasn't like ordinary humans, that she had special powers she should never tell anyone else about.

AJ did as she was told. She kept her powers secret and tried to lead as much of a normal life as she could. There were numerous incidents that involved her having to use her powers, but she never exposed herself. She could not even bring herself to tell Jake this big secret either. Because of this, AJ felt often guilty over the fact that her dad and aunt had coped with this burden for years. However, she would often avoid confronting her feelings by becoming a workaholic on the farm. Since discovering her super strength, AJ has uncovered she has a healing factor. This has made it even harder to be normal and makes her more cautious when it comes to accidents.

It's now the summer and AJ is relieved that junior year is finally over. She can't wait to see Jake, but can't help noticing someone is watching the farm from a distance. Perhaps she is just paranoid, but she has never felt this way before. Just what is really going on? Is her mind playing tricks on her? Or are there darker forces at hand here?
