Do you like side scrolling games?

They have been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine since I have had time off. I like them for their simplicity and their instant replay value. Some of my favorites include Castlevania 1 and 4, Mario games, Mega Man for NES, and Sonic (any).

I am also happy that Nintendo has been making more side scrollers for the Wii. (New Super Mario Bros, the new Donkey Kong game I think, and some other game that escapes me that I saw on E3)

I still think side scrollers are the best games. They are just fun, and sometimes that all you want from a game, rather than next to impossible tasks and shit that just infuriates you. Not that some of these side scrollers havent irritated the shite out of me in the past :hmph:

Side scrollers are great games to play, I recently spent an afternoon playing New Super Mario Brothers Wii with my brother, and we had a total blast. It proved to me that there is still a lot of potential and fun to be had with the format.

They are insanely addictive though, I could load up Super Mario Brothers DS and play the same worlds over and over again :lew:

I do not like side scrolling games. They usually are platforming games, which I am not fond of as well. I liked to play the old Mario games when I was younger but I have lost interest in side scrolling games long ago.

Generally they're full of fact action and bad camera tricks, to make me feel nauseous. That said, I enjoy them. Mario, Megaman, etc...

I don't play many, but yes, yes I do. The only side scrollers I play are Mario and LittleBigPlanet. With side scrollers I just know not to expect much, it's all about the gameplay, the story is pretty much non-existent and you don't have to worry about the character development et al, so if it's fun it's good. :ryan:

I don't play them as much as I used to, but I share the sentiments of many here. They really are pure slices of fun as well as challenges that seem to be lost in many of the 3D games of today. Take the Megaman games. Truly nail-bitingly tough at first until you practise, and try, try again on each level. It's usually these kind of games that make me feel the most rewarded when I accomplish something.

I still love the 2D Mario games today. I'm sure I still fire up my DS copy of New Super Mario Bros. occasionally. The Castlevania games are rather good as well, as are the 2D Sonic games. In fact, when it generally comes to the Castlevania and Sonic games, they are at their best when they are in classic side-scrolling 2D.

I enjoy a good side scroller. They're fun, challenging, and not too complex in terms of plot or battle systems. I prefer the side scrolling fighters like Streets of Rage, but I played some game called Ninja Joe or something, and I also like the old Megaman games.

I like side scrollers. For me Mario, Sonic and all those are the best sidescrollers. Mario games that are side scrollers are meant to be fun. Like in New super mario bros, really easy game and no challenge at all but still fun. I still have my mario games. Sonic on the sega genesis collection can now be played on psn, Xbl and all those things so I take advantage of that. I really loved Sonic the hedgehog on genesis. But if you want a challenge in new super mario bros you can always enable challeneg mode with a code after you beat the game :lew: Basically you just can go forward and no going backwards.

Ehh, I do like the Mario side scroller games. But after playing the side scroller part of KHCoded, I have a slight fear of them now. That part was fucking hard. I got so rage-y doing it! Then, to top it all off, I did finish it, but my fucking DS died on me right before I plugged it in. I did beat it again, but I never want to do it again.

I find the Mario one's to be enjoyable at the very least. I know my Lil Broski is rocking one right now. He focuses as if he were taking a life changing test! Anyway, I guess these are good games. KH should stay away from them though.

I have not played a sidescroller in quite a while actually, though I would like to. Fez and Braid are both games I'd like to play, and Fez is coming to the PSN I believe. I downloaded Braid on my laptop, but it means I can't use my computer when I play it. So I might wait a while before playing it

Sadly enough, Little Big Planet is the only side scroller I cared to finish even the first level of in maybe...10 years.

They are so boring, the ever continuous march to the right, up or down. Ugh. Maybe some people like them and find the gameplay interesting or quirky but I'm honestly just bored out of my mind while playing them usually. =/

Edit: That was a lie. I did get my Abe's Odyssey on a few years ago with Kirababes.
