Should there be a Sequel to VIII?

With FFVII pretty much the flag bearer of the FF roster, and I have nothing against them. The constant bombardment of sequels are...>.>....*cough*abuse of power*cough*
I think it's long over due for the directors of Square to make a sequel for FFVIII saga. :wacky:(long Lives the Gunblade)

As typical of most sequels, that go backwards with the story line, so as players can have an in dept view of their characters. It has to be assumed something like that can't really be done here.As prior much of the storyline already was based on Squall and others characters past lives already. If a story line had to made, it can to go forward...maybe a new story plot, Squall and Rinoa, got married, had kids, one of them turned in a sorceress, tried to take over the world...Zell got put in charge of Balamb (HOTDOG's FRENZY):wacky:, and Selphie and Irvine....well, anyway that's not important. What is, is that I think a sequel should be made for fans of the FFVIII saga.Past story or future, I hope they do one day.
 
i would definately want a sequel just because i want to see what would happen to them after ultimecia died and also they should do something abourt the lunar cry arter all loads of monsters came from the moon but all that happened was Adel came down i mean they should have gone into more detail but that's just my opinion.

that would be a prequel so if there is a sequel then it will be after the fight with the soceress
so as players can have an in dept view of their characters. i kinda wish they would make a mmorpg of ff8 it is one of the few games that would do good for a mmorpg type you know where you create you charactor as a kid and go through the ages and end up as a high ranking seed and that stuff
 
FFVIII wrapped up nicely at the end, so I see no need for there to be a sequel. A prequel isn't needed either, since the characters' pasts are all
explained nicely with no visible plot holes. So it's highly unlikely that there'll be a sequel. Which is only a good thing.

Anyways, as MB says the story was completed nicely - all threats eliminated, boy got girl - it was a nice happy ending all round - we knew enough about people pasts & Laguna was covered in the dreams.....

What could a sequel possibly be about? I think it would totally ruin VIII's story
 
i see ya'lls point and i agree but if you could have the same world and all that stuff and develop your own charactor it would be awsome and it would be concisered a sequel
 
Matt and bambi pretty much summed it up for me. I don't really care for the Trend that FFVII and FFX are setting. Each new FF was supposed to be new worlds, new people, new story. While I like the continuations, I think they take away from the originals.
 
well yea most do but if it has nothing of the storyline of the first it doesn't
 
Well with everyone's input, it can go both ways...I think over time it's really boils down to the fan base. It is true, the story plot was well written.Thats why I liked it more than the other's. In more ways than one, I'd be sad really, if it all just came to an end, if not for the characters at least, then atleast the game play, it was really something I liked with the exams and dorms, it was very well set up.

I agree with Matt, the storyline really has no holes, and gives no room for a sequel or a prequel, except if they try to do a thing where Edea and Cid are still young, that wouldn't be too bad.
