Playstation Shadow of the Colossus

Well, I finally started it the other day ....though I finished Ico before. And Ico is as I already said absolutelly great.

Now on my 5th colossus...and what I really like is that each one is a puzzle on its own. Not to mention everything in the game looks absolutelly beautiful....

Great game. This may be one of my favorite non-Final Fantasy games ever. The only problem I had with it though, is that it's sooo short; beat it in under 10 hours (~7 I think).

The emotion in this game though goes all through your body. Fighting the Colossi makes you shift towards the edge of your seat as you stare at the screen with eyes wide open. The last Colossus and the cinmatic cut scene before it is epic; I love it.

Great game overall. it really makes you think and put yourself in the shoes of the main character as he risks everything...to gain the person who means everything to him.

Well a lot of games are usually about that length. The only games that I actually expect to be very long are RPG's. As long as I cannot complete the game very easily in one sitting then I don't mind that much. It took me months to complete Shadow of the Colossus despite only being a 10 hour (average) game. I really need to get playing Ico but I have too many games that I am wanting to play at this moment. :(

It is average lenght...I guess it just depends if you have that amount of hours to spend on one game in one go.

I am at colussus 12 and I have about 12 hours on there, but I been playing it just over one week now...thing is I could not sit though one game in one go, but mainly I have other things to do during the day, and sometimes I play more then one game so.......basically cannot sit down and play games all day long.

Ico is actually shorter, a least I got that feel...took me only 3 days to finish it....and that is quick for me, as it takes me average two to three weeks to complete each game I play...unless they are not rpg's.

I liked SotC, it was fun and I figured out all of the puzzles myself. (That being because I never knew they had a guide out for it.) I noticed many things that I will put in spoiler black.

Like the fact that with every Colossi defeated, he got more and more pale. I didn't know why until the end. And the fact that wander gets duddily squat for all his hard work, since now, instead of loving on her his girl has to take care of him. I can remember watching the credits thinking something would happen to take away the feeling of dispair, but nothing happened.

I would say this game is a 5/5 until the very end. Then it drops to 2^_^

I would up the score for its ending. Shadow of the Colossus had such a fantastic ending and the theme at the credits "The Sunlit Earth" tops it off.

The ending is perfect and just right....

I was so shocked and angry at the same time a first then I burst into tears.......first when Argo goes down the cliff. My friend was watching me finishing the game, and when the horse went she was like what? ...why? ..we were both crying over the flipping horse...then we were crying through the entire ending....lol, then when the horse came back we were crying again ...yes I admit it was pathetic, but hey..great ending.....:D

I know this thread was posted ages ago, but what a game! I rented it a couple of years ago when I was laid up when I ruptured my achilles! It was unlike anything I'd ever played and the scenery was breathtaking.

I bought it last year and the other day had a play on it, I just rode around for about half an hour! ^_^

The only shame is that it ends. I wish there were more colossi to defeat as I enjoyed figuring out their weaknesses, even though sometimes it was a little frustrating!

Someone mentioned something about a sequel on the PS3, is this just a rumour?

It's really good, one of the best and the ending was perfect, sad but perfect, I like how was the gameplay and everything it was almost realistic. I would give 10/10 and you have to think how I'm gonna kill that monster now. O_O it was really good. :monster:

That is most certainly true:

SOTC is one of my all time favourite games, everything about it clicked for me. The gameplay, ambiguous storyline, music, the colossus and the cursed land it's set in. It's just a fantastic game and i'm eagerly waiting for the third game to come out.

I found this game completely overrated, the length didnt bother me so much, but the battles, they just seemed the same, at elast for me...find way to jump on Colossus, climb and stab, rinse and repeat.

It maybe be similar for each collusus, but surely that is the same for most games? The action is roughly the same, except it gets harder to perform and you need to practice and learn with each stage.

That's good news about the ICO team, I'm looking forward to such a game appearing on the PS3, I might actually buy one! As i think the graphical capabilities of the PS3 would be perfect for games as beautiful made as this.

I've heard some of the music for it. OMG. The music alone made me want to play the game. I so wish my ps2 wasn't crap any more. I've heard rumor that SotC was supposed to be a PRequel to Ico. IT would make sence with Ico's horns and all.

I loved Shadow of the Colossus, it was one of the few games on the PS2 that I could actually sit there and go...wow! The whole horse thing somewhat reminded me a little of Zelda but I loved the music which was pretty much amazing, the large world was good and I liked how each Colossus was a challenge and that you didn't have to do the same things over and over again for all of them. :-)

I adored this game but I never had the same passion for it that Busta did. When it comes to gaming, he's always a step behind me. I swear he completed this game in 2 days... if not less. He was a freak about it. It probably took me about 2 weeks because each battle wore me out so much... but the game was great. I just wish there were more to the plot... but it's got such a cool feel with no plot that you can't really ever hate it.

I love this game. It's so unique and the world is beautiful, although not as beautiful as ICO. A couple of the Colossi, you really had to think on how to beat them. Some of their 'spots' were hard to find. And the last Colossi was HUGE with so many 'spots' to stab on. I definitely would recommend this game. Also, whenever you finish it,the tasks you can do afterwards are pretty interesting. The timed battles and what not. Your power bar also grows so you are (eventually) able to climb to the top of the castle thing.

Also the ending,it makes alot of sense if you've played ICO before hand. I think it ties in pretty well with it. And I loved ICO also. ^_^

SOTC really was an awesome game. A total of 13 enemies and the puzzle to find them is such a great idea. I dont think in any other game every and any situation is screen cappable and almost without fail gives an epic view or picture or situation. Jumping onto the giant birds wings was my favourite moment.

God damn that horse though. It should be shot, it couldnt run straight anyway :D

Instead of attending E3 this year, Team Ico leader Fumito Ueda kept himself busy by sorting through his old files.

Among the files, he stumbled upon a storyboard from an unused Shadow of the Colossus ending. During the game's development, he did not like this ending, and ended up redoing it into the ending that appeared in the final version.

Have a look at the unused Shadow of the Colossus ending here, via Ueda's Twitter. Ueda would not tell us exactly what's going on in the image, but perhaps a big enough Shadow of the Colossus fan can figure it out.
