I just finished this game last night and it was a remarkable game. Something completely different and I think it really worked well. Despite winning numerous awards I am suprise how under appreciated this game is. It is definitely one of my favourite games of all time. Not much of the story is known throughout the game, even at that the ending is still fantastic.

I would recommend this game for anyone who likes a challenge.

I bought it once, but left it on the bus. Some lucky person has it now. I was gutted, I wanted to buy it again but have never got round to it.

The game is just over a year old and shops are now selling it at £10. In my opinion, that price is robbery! :D

At that price, I would say it is a MUST HAVE rather than pass up the opportunity to play what is considered to be one of the best PS2 games.

I love this game. I haven't gotten around to beating it yet, mostly because my brother hogs it. And the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes i find myself just riding around looking at the scenery. Lol.

Btw, Have you played ICO? It's done by the same people who made SOTC.

Shadow of the Colossus is the greatest game ever made for the PS2, hands down.

When you topple the first few colossi, you'll be hooked, and there's no way to become unhooked.

I didn't have a strategy guide, so I figured out every single puzzle myself. Usually, extremely difficult puzzles make a game wear down fast, but the fun value of SOTC is so high, you wouldn't mind at all.

I loved the game, I really did... but I never felt motivated to beat the game. I did eventually but for some reason it never grabbed me in the way I expected it to. I really like the game and it is amazing... but I just never got that hooked. It's the only game Busta's ever beat in less RL time than I have... and the only game he's ever had to push me to beat. Usually I'm the one pushing him to finish games. It was a terrific game though.

I loved this game. The music, the atmosphere, the colossi themselves, everything was just fantastic. I was really surprised how much I liked it.

I've never played ICO, but isn't it related to it in some way?

I prefer ICO, most people would probably think Im mad. I didnt play much of SoC, I viewed it and IMO it looked rather frustrating as my ex and his friend had a tough time playing it.

Beautiful looking game, but I wouldnt run out and get it.

I got ICO about a month or 2 ago but decided not to play it as I was currently in the middle of some games (Shadow of the Colossus being one). My brother (Who completed SotC earlier today) is currently playing ICO as I speak.

Ico and SoC are related but not very much. The only thing I know is that the reason summoners have horns in Ico is because of the baby at the end of SoC

I beat the first three bosses. Wasnt hooked. Sold it.

I didnt like the game at all, really. I know the atmosphere was supposed to give you a lonely feeling, like it was just you and your sole companion was your horse....but i hated the horse cuz it controlled terribly, and frankly...the atmosphere was just so depressing and bleak. Even the environments were bleak...pretty, yes, but not enough variation in my opinion.

The boss fights were actually pretty cool, but were so insanely difficult simply because the camera was a piece of crap. When i was on the ground it would pan too far up so i could never see how close i was to the colossus's feet, thus resulting in me getting stepped on half the time. When i actually made it onto the colossi, half the time the camera would spin around to some other section of the colossus i wasnt even on.

Maybe my game was glitched...but either way....i just didnt like it.

OMFG!!!!!111!

I Love this game! Beat it in less than 7 hours...maybe even less.

I couldn't stop playing. Sure the story's good, but very slow with cut-scenes few and far between, but the ending on the way to the final Colossi had me on edge and emotionally stuck to the game!

I LOVE THIS GAME@!!!@%es!!

I haven't played this but I will... I have seen the begining and the way it plays, and it is not putting me off.....plus I am a patient freak when it comes to playing games...and actually I think it looks very very pretty the way it is donne.

Plus I am playing Ico right now, and I love Ico, it is an execellent game.

This is just my favourite game of all time, its truly innovative, its a real challenge.....its a beautifuly created interactive experience......its remarkable how you get the feeling that these collosi are actually real creatures, shreeking in pain when you fight them, the AI is amazing, also the whole concept of just fighting these enormous beasts and exploring the beautiful world is genius.....possibly the best thing about this game is the atmosophere, its really hard to explain, very mystical, and slightly eerie, you get a sense that you're not supposed to be there, whilst galloping across the magnificent and completely deserted environment.....the way you fight each one is simply unique, its hard sometimes, and also ingenius and breath taking, figuring out how to kill the bird one and the sand snake one were my favourite...
Between each fight you obviously have to find the next colossi, those very long exploration bits never get boring, as you travel to new areas, and i always got slightly scared when getting nearer to one, dunno why...XD
More games like this please, different to the standard genres, with innovative gameplay

As you can see, i like this game a LOT lol, so get it now!!!!! and play ICO aswell.....

I've got this game but I lent it to my girlfriend after I played it a bit......got to the third colossus. It's an amazing game but my one problem with it is that it's a bit slow than what I expected...probably due to frame rate. Otherwise, it's an excellent game. Hope they make another for PS3.

I've heard frame rate complaints about this game and I've honestly never seen it for myself. I have looked it up on youtube... and sure enough there is a frame rate problem in some of the games but I never had it in mine. There was always a slowdown at epic parts but that was something that was included into the game, not a problem with the game itself. The effects look completely different. IE - The blood would spray out and everything would just slow down for a second. But it's never like I'd be climbing up one of the guys and it would just start clipping.

i played it again yesterday and today, i still love it.

Apparently it's the prequel to ICO as the baby at the end of the game is rumoured to be the grandfather of the protagonist of ICO and that the third game is going to link the two together. just a rumour though.

frame rate is an issue on this game but it's rare. the horse i hate sometimes, especially on Colossus 13 (the huge flying snake thing in the desert) when you are soley focused on chasing the colossus you run into a rock.

But still, it is an achievement that the makers can work on better for the next game in the "story".

Great game. This may be one of my favorite non-Final Fantasy games ever. The only problem I had with it though, is that it's sooo short; beat it in under 10 hours (~7 I think).

The emotion in this game though goes all through your body. Fighting the Colossi makes you shift towards the edge of your seat as you stare at the screen with eyes wide open. The last Colossus and the cinmatic cut scene before it is epic; I love it.

Great game overall. it really makes you think and put yourself in the shoes of the main character as he risks everything...to gain the person who means everything to him.

I just started playing this game and it is amazing, The colossi are gigantic and diverse.I can't wait to get farther into the game and fight the rest of the colossi.

I was sent the Demo in the mail and wasn’t sure if I get into it or not, but after playing it, I was amazed with the level of detail the game had to offer. In short, I loved it as well and purchased a copy for my growing collection of PS2 titles. If anything, it's definitely a game worth trying.
