K, just last week 2 large Romanian women actually came to our door begging!! Luckly my uncle was here and gave them a good piece of his mind. I live with my retired grandparents and I can just about pay rent and this happens. He told them to basically piss off and not come back or he will get the dogs on them! They quickly ran down our garden path and scattered. That was last week.

Now not 40 minutes ago, 1 of the same women appeared at our living room window!! So she had come up our path again and started actually looking into our house! My gran was changing the budgie, looked up and she was holding an envelope roughly saying "Money for chidlren". Well my gran was fuming and started shouting at her to go away, I thought she was being attacked! By the time I had gotten downstairs she had dissappered and my grandad was out in the garden looking for her. She had vanished. My gran was of course very upset as this woman had come onto our property and was peeking into our home!

I suggested we called the police as they may have been looking in to see if the place was empty, then try to get in. But my grandparents said there was nothing the police could do. Surely its agaisnt the law in the UK to beg on someones property. Ive seen people moved on in Manchester for begging, so why cant we stop them doing it on our doorstep?

It has upset the 3 of us and I dont feel very safe now. Any advice please guys?

Those romanians...you need to watch out, i saw a program on TV about them, which explain how they steal you, usually the move in "packs" and sorround a person and start begging for money, during all that confusion one of them pulls your bag and runs away and then they quickly change it from person to person, so you can never actually track down the one who stole you.

If they are looking out your window then i think they might be watching your house to wait and see if nobody is there so they can steal you, i'm not trying to cause panic or anything, but you can call the police just to scare them off even if they can't arrest them...and they probably won't appear again, since most of them are illegal. Good luck.

I agree with jimmy. If this keeps happening they can have a cop watch the place on variating increments. I know if i saw a cop watching someones house, i wouldn't try to enter and steal. That;s bad juju right there. Good luck madam.

That is so weird! =0

Why would they even bother coming back after your uncle told them to piss off?

Were there no other houses in the street?

This is just creepy. I couldn't imagine looking up to see someone staring into my house. That is so effing rude and invading your privacy and making you feel insecure in your own home.

I would call the police. Whether they can do anything or not is another matter but at least if you report it, the next time it happens it would be a second incident and the police might do something about it.

I really feel sorry for you. =( No one should have to put up with that crap.

Theres about 8 houses on this road and we are at the end next to a block of flats. My mum and aunt have told them to call the police, but they wont. I said I would and my grandparents went mad. Its upsetting me as I have stuff that is worth stealing and we have been robbed before by a polish group about 4 years ago. They took almost everything. Its frustrating they wont do anything, I think my grandparents dont care.

I don't know the rules where you are, but in the U.S., if you post a sign somewhere on your property that says "NO TRESPASSING" in plain view, then the police have a legal basis to prosecute anyone on your property that you don't want there.

Again, dunno about where you are, but that might be a place to start.

Hmmm......a rather creepy story you have there.

I'm in the UK too and right now I don't remember any law prohibiting people from begging in properties. I'm not an expert in the finer details of our country's laws, so I'm not really sure. Nevertheless it's a really rude and unpleasant thing to do- staring through someone else's window.

These Romanians are most likely illegally present in the UK. It's best to avoid them and let authorities see what they can do about it.

Did you get robbed at the same house as you're in now?

Also why don't your grandparents care?

Surley they have things that are valuable to them that they wouldn't want to get stolen, but not only that, the fact that someone would be in my house is enough for me to call the police.

Have you had any more encounters as yet or have you done anything to prevent it from happening again?

Hey guys, touch wood they havent returned!! Yeah it was the same house. They changed after they were robbed. It was the first time it had happened to them and it was a massive shock for them. All my grans jewellery she had since she was a young girl was taken, she use to look at the local pawn shops in case she would see any of her pieces. Theyve given up cause all that mattered was taken last time. But I was lucky and nothing of mine was taken, but Im scared cause I bought EVERYTHING in my room and I couldnt bear to lose anything.

Thankfully they havent come back and hope they stay away!! Thanks guys :-)

when all else fails: install an alarm and a hidden camera. ho ho ho...

good luck to you. i would be creeped the hell out to see someone staring at me through my window, whoever they were (in fact i had this happen to me, but luckily it was just my aunt who couldn't reach me by phone or doorbell 'cause i had headphones on)
