As some of you may know I've just started playing this game and I just don't understand Rinoa's position in this game, she's not a SeeD but she's fully trained in combat. Why did they need to rescue her and when Rinoa and Suall was fighting in Timber at the radio station scene she said she thought everything was fine when SeeD came but it's not. Was she in trouble? How?

If any of you know the background, please summarise her existence thanks :)

I wouldn't say Rinoa was fully trained in combat. She was a part of the Timber Owls which is a resistance faction. She wanted help from the SeeDs because they were attempting to kidnap the president and wanted assistance from people who were fully trained in combat. :dave:

You'll find out more if you just play the game, tbh. There's no point in asking people to summarize the game for you because you could probably find a summary of it online. Or you could just continue with the game. xD

Also Thread Moved to FFVIII Help Booth

Again, you need to play more of the game to kinda understand her.

She believed SeeD would make everything ok as they are an organisation and she thought once they had helped her, then everything would be sorted. Alas not ... Did that make sense???? But yeah, carry on playing and find out lol.

You'll find out more about her and how she is special when you carry on the game. If you really want to know...
She is a sorceress and they are there to battle SeeDs. She is par with Edea and Ultimecia if you think about it. Maybe not in the game but later on in her life she will be. She is also a generals daughter so she may have been trained for him.

I think the Key advice here is... keep playing the game! All is revealed in time so unles you want major spoilers (which kinda make playing the game half as fun) then you shouldn't look for the answers just yet. I will just say that the character may start a litle naive but she grows and becomes an important part of the storyline!

shes not a sorceress til much later on in the game though - so that point holds no sway - I can understand the point of her being a Generals daughter, she could have picked shit up off him over the years - even if unintentional

She's the member of a resistance faction - so you would imagine they would be somewhat trained in combat. But not overly so as we can see they are just a 2-bit operation

And as SeeDs are a trained military organisation, she felt this was what they needed to really claim Timber back as she knew the forest owls weren't up to that task alone

Bambi, your spoiler tag didn't work? I can still see all the text without my mouse being over it.

Anyway, Just keep on playing and you'll sort of figure it out. Her mysterious-ness goes away when she gets more bonded with the other characters and talks more about her personal life. Look forward to it.

It's showing as in spoiler tags on mine..... oh well, if the dude wants to ruin it for himself, sod it - he'd look anyway :wacky:

Can anyone else see it..?

Um......why is this in the FFVIII Help booth it does not involve a technical part of the game
and is based more in speculation and spoilers........it does not matter I suppose?

Outside of her role with Forest Owl's and her subsequent gaining of the Sorceress Power she is just a normal 17 yo girl i would think, she is born march so she is variable to put it kindly prone to rash thinking and actions.

To some degree its the kids in Seed that are wired?

She acts on her emotions where as they keep there personal feelings sheltered because of there discipline and training. Apart from her leadership in the F.O she has very little combat training and yet she still handles herself really well.

If your looking for a traditional FF job class for her.......she does not have one because she occupies no real role as do the rest of the party, magic is her forte, but magiclimit makes her worse then useless the other 2 female chracter in the game ave much better Limits than Rinoa.

Her existence IMO is that of Weak to Mid strength Lead female chracter who fares pooly in comparisons with other FF female leads, no real defining qualities, unless you cosider whining a Personality trait:smartass:

She's a full-time bimbo and leads an ill-fated resistance movement of about five people that hire the SeeDs in the begining of the game.

Trust me. The game will be double the fun if you find it out yourself by playing through the game. I am sure it's easy as you are referring to a guide, am I right? I myself can get really curious, and ended up googling for the plots of Final Fantasy IX. I really regretted it as when I came back to play the game, it's like half-ruined >_>

As for Rinoa, as others have said, she's in important character in the story later. Without her, there's no ending.
As she will be the only sorceress left to be the medium for some major plan the party is planning.

SQUALL-RINOA = COUPLE , That's simply why she was placed in the game when you boil it allllllll they wayyyyy down. Just like Yuna in FFX. Of course they have a life though, doesn't everyone?
