The 'ie/ei' rule in German is so much easier to remember, as the order depends on which letter you pronounce. If it's said 'ee' then it's spelt 'ie', and if it's said like 'eye' then it's spelt 'ei'. :gmonster:

Give me three examples.

It is a total waste of my time. But face it, English is a mix of several other languages. Which makes it a language with very little logic. English, as we know it, only goes back to the 17th century. Well, maybe I am off by a few years. But it is a relatively young language.

Oh the i before e nonsense. I was going to use that. But to be honest, I am too lazy.

Things like logic and rules don't really come into account when it's your first language though, because you just speak it without thinking about these things.
 
What does it be matterin' anyhows, as long as we can communificate and understandify each others, then there should be no problematics...
