Hi, I noticed that the "Clan Leaders" font has very little difference from regular member font, so I was wondering if it's possible to change it to something more distinguishable

Since all but the members names are bold, perhaps you can do that for the Clan Leaders? But mainly just something different from regular members >__<

Hmmm we actually don't have any Clan Leaders so I don't really see how it'd be confusing...Maybe we should just have them removed from the legend? I'm not sure.

are there any forum staff members? i have seen any since i joined.

There's one posted right above you xD

And what were the clan leaders anyway? :gasp:

arent forum staff with yellow letters XD? if you were answering my question, riddick

Hahaha no there used to be yellow names for the moderators, they are purple now :monster:

Just like, look at the staff list xD

He's referring to the group 'Forum Staff' which is clearly visible amongst the other listed usergroups.

Just like, look at the staff list xD
No, you. :gmonster:

I never understood why nobody removed that group from this list, though it'd be nice to make use of that group again.

Oh yeah I didn't notice that, don't think I ever have hahah

Wtf fuck are they for aswel xD

I'm guessing that Forums Staff will be used here as they are typically used by other forums, scouting out the latest news or writing reviews, that kind of thing. I think there's still a spot open for this position in the Application Center.

As far as I know the usergroup was originally created here by BustaMo for the "Member Middlemen" idea. The idea fizzled out, obviously.

Then again I could be wrong so take all that with a pinch of salt. :monster:

Hahah, it's been there forever. Cawkman originally put the FFF System under the Forum Staff and that's about the extent of it. I'm sure someone else brought up how unused the Forum Staff usergroup was and so, when we were having problems with Aztec, he suggested the middleman be a Forum Staffer. So you were mostly right.

The News Reporter idea did my left tit in :wacky: A complete waste of time if there ever was one.

I thought the clan leaders font was actually FOR the clan leaders O_O Guess I was mistaken hmm?

Do we actually have clans and clan leaders? Because instead of just banishing the usergroup, we could make some use of it? I don´t know if there are any dedicated enough clans, bar the SeeDs, to warrant such a thing though.

We could have GFX clans.

SOTW and AOTW could be competitions between them, a number of people from each GFX clan submits work and whoever wins gets a point for their team and, of course, their name on the SOTW results thingy at the bottom of the home page. Sort of like how Hogwarts has house points. xD

If someone that's not a member of a GFX clan submits work and wins though, then normal procedures are taken and no clan points are earned for that week unless a GFX clan member wins the other competition, of course.

What do we think?

I think that's an astounding suggestions and it's one I'd be well up for. I've been looking for a reason to get back into working with photoshop.

All in favour, do what I do and say aye. :gasp:

Well obviously I'm well in favour of this.

I think it could be a great addition to the forums and it'll give members something else to stick around for. Mark and Derek could be in charge of keeping the scoreboard updated (if, of course, they don't mind) and Clan Leaders could be given moderation powers to keep their own clan areas tip-top.

The only slight snag this could bring up is staff members wishing to be Clan Leaders... They may already have enough on their plates? I don't know, I can't speak for everyone, obviously... but I don't see why not, either. If they think they can cope then who am I to say otherwise?

Sorry if I seem bossy here, I'm just throwing ideas around. :neomon:

I like the GFX clan idea. We have at least ten dedicated GFXers at the moment, and we´ve been getting on average 6 SOTW entries a week. We could do like survivor, and make it so the members of clan A can´t see clan Bs clan section too, since we could add a clan subsection to Kilika.

The only trouble would be the mod powers thing. To give someone any kind of mod powers, we´d have to put them into the moderator usergroup, which would then give them access to staff HQ, which isn´t something anyone on staff would approve of, I think. Derek and I could just help keep these clans tidy anyway, but there would still be a clan leader.

I like the idea so much because, practically every forum has a SOTW, but I can´t think of any that have GFX Clans.

I don't think that's entirely the case. As far as I know, the Clan Leaders usergroup currently has no special features. I'm positive that you can make usergroups specific in their moderation capabilities. So, it'd be possible to allow them to moderate that section without actually being a moderator. Alternatively, if I'm just blethering, wouldn't it be easy enough to make the staff section password-protected?

One more alternative. From setting up a few forums on InvisionFree and such like, I noticed an option in the ACP, which allows certain user(/group)s to moderate their own threads. Since vBulletin is more advanced, I'm assuming it has this option, too. This could be utilised by simply making the Clan Leaders the people who started the thread - this would give them the ability to moderate their own thread without being an actual moderator.

Exactly, you could make the clan areas password protected and it would be up to the Clan Leader to give new recruits their respective password. Another idea I had was to put a post count restriction on clans like there is on the RPG. Something like 50 posts before you can be recruited into a clan? Just a thought... this way you won't get newbies signing up for GFX clans for sole purpose of being a part of one. Maybe you could ask that they provide proof also, like a few sigs or something, just to make sure.

The only trouble would be the mod powers thing. To give someone any kind of mod powers, we´d have to put them into the moderator usergroup, which would then give them access to staff HQ, which isn´t something anyone on staff would approve of, I think. I'm pretty sure you can give Clan Leaders permission to moderate their own clan area and block their view from the staff section at the same time. If not, either password protect the staff area or take a vote on who you think can be trusted. You can always remove someone's privileges if they go against any ground rules you may want to set down beforehand, don't forget.

If it's not entirely possible to do any of what me or Dave have proposed then I don't see why you and Derek can't keep the clan areas tidy, as you offered. Far be it from me to tell you otherwise.

Right. Well this idea is pretty much in motion now so just wait until we get everything set-up. =] Thank you Casanova for this splendid suggestion.

There may be a few changes from the original idea but overall, we'll still make the best of it.

So I take it that Clan Leaders will no longer have any affiliation with the RPG anymore, yes?

GFX Clan Leaders will be what they're called then?

And, um, hopefully their font will be different from regular members like I initially made this thread about :P
