Sorry in advance if there's a thread like this out there already.=/

Anyways, I've always loved music but, I'm having some trouble finding new songs to add to my playlist so, any help would be great =D

I like all kinds of music really so don't be afraid to recommend me anything =P.

Thanks =]

+rep will be offered too xD.

I recommend, if you like any music, try something you've never listened to or wouldn't listen to. For example say you don't like: "Cheryl Cole", go ahead and listen to it. That is how I found new music, some you like, some you don't. I recommend searching on: lastfm, for some new (or old) artists, or type the genres you specifically like. ^_^

Hope I helped.

Here's a great song;

It's an awesome song to listen to. It's Alternative/Rock. And it's got an awesome guitarist, he's not too tricky but his style is beyond unique and addicting. His voice is kinda light, but again, it's very unique. The drums are very heavy and range from fast to slow through out the song.

The lyrics are actually really great. The best thing about this song is that they use instruments of every kind, guitars, violins, pianos, you name it. That's why this song is so good. There's a part where the violin, drums, and guitar all mesh together, and it just sounds so perfect.

It's one of the best songs I've ever listened too. Please enjoy!

Chances of you liking the band I have to recommend are very low but I might as well give them a mention, just in case!

alice nine.

Japanese rock band, haha. If you don't speak Japanese, you might not gain anything from it lyrics-wise, but the music is good and the singers voice is enjoyable. :P

Thanks to the both of you guys =D.

I'll deff you the website and see what I can find :]

EDIt:

thanks Cali and Mikko. =D

I've heard of SilverSun Pickups-- I have one of their songs on my ipod-- so, I really enjoyed the song you reconmended =D and i agree with you on it Cali.

Lol, I use to listen to Alice Nine, they're actually really good. I recommend them too, man. But another song I recommend is this Lebanese singer, her name is Nancy Ajram. She's a beautiful and VERY talented woman. Her vocals are light and beautiful.

Here's one of her best songs call "Zaman Kan Andi Alb"

The song doesn't sound weird or foreign, it's actually very good. The song is about her finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her and how she'll never forgive him.

Please listen to it.

Somewhat hijacking the thread, apologies if I am, but props to listening to alice nine. <3

That was my first time listening to Lebanese(?) music and I must say it was enjoyable. She's a very pretty singer and her voice is really nice. Also, the language she is singing in is very pretty too. :)

Recommendations, coming right up! =D

First and foremost, I recommend Within Temptation. Absolutely beautiful vocals, epic orchestral background, and the songs themselves have some wonderful, deep lyrics.
Just a few samples: Utopia, Stand my Ground, Mother Earth and Angels.

If you like that, chances are you'll like Epica (they are what they say - similar style, but a little more focused on the classical element, rather than the metal/rock element), Nightwish (I recommend their older works, before Anette Olzon replaced Tarja as the lead singer, but a couple of their new songs are alright) and possibly Delain as well. If you'd like some samples for those, just say so~ *could fill this entire post with YT links* xD

Deviating away from the symphonic metal a little bit...Breaking Benjamin are one of my all-time favourite bands. Just...fantastic. I don't really know what else to say. I'll let the songs do the talking...Into The Nothing, What Lies Beneath, Without You and Shallow Bay. I recommend all their songs, though~

Edguy are good, especially if you like a little rudeness to your lyrics. Aren't You A Little Pervert Too? (which I won't post a link to, because its probably not suitable for the forum. XD) had me in stitches the first time I heard it, and Dragonfly surprised me when I figured out what the song was about. Other songs I'd recommend are Dead or Rock, Down to the Devil and Ministry of Saints.

Avantasia are awesome as well. A lot of their albums are concept albums, and Tobias Sammet (lead vocalist for Edguy) brings in any number of people to join in. Whilst The Metal Opera may not appeal to you, their later works might. Death Is Just A Feeling is one of my favourite new songs, along with Symphony of Life and Another Angel Down~

If you'd like more recommendations, you have but to ask: I could go on all night. XD

Let me know what you think, and I'll make a few more suggestions if you like it.

Porcupine Tree would be a good bet. They've got a wide range of styles, so they're appealing to a lot of people.
Placebo are another good one to go for. Brian Molko's voice is a bit weird, which puts people off them usually but I don't mind it.
Audioslave would be another good one. Some of Chris Cornell's best stuff was done when Audioslave were around.

Adding a bit to what Dweia said about Nightwish; I'd start with Wishmaster and Century Child. They're two of the band's better albums, and from there I'd recommend moving to Oceanborn and Once. Over the Hills and Far Away has some great stuff on it, but the latter half of the album is live music primarily from Wishmaster. Angels Fall First is also worth a look, but it's back when the band was still in something of a style-search phase so it's a bit odd compared to later stuff (the song "Know Why the Nightingale Sings" is a must-have however).

Dark Passion Play and Tarja's solo debut "My Winter Storm" are recommended only if you end up becoming a die-hard fan though.

Moving on, something I do with a lot of the older rock bands is first grab their most heavily track-laden "greatest hits" compilation. In some cases (Ozzy, Alice) I end up grabbing their other albums, but generally the greatest hits releases are a good place to start. That said, the best ones (that I have anyway) are The Platinum Collection (Queen), Mascara and Monsters (Alice Cooper), Styx: Greatest Hits (Styx), and Echoes (Pink Floyd).

For an oddball mention; Oingo Boingo is worth looking at, though I've only heard their stuff from when Danny Elfman was frontman. It's an 80's band that comes across as "Devo with a trace of insanity". "Just Another Day", "No One Lives Forever", "Nothing to Fear", and "Private Life" are some of my personal favorites.

Also; Blind Guardian. They're mostly rock/metal, and every now and then they stick fantasy elements in (most prevalent in Nightfall on Middle Earth). Still, they're one of the more varied bands out there, as they've done covers of songs like "Inna Godda Da Vida", "Surfin' USA", "Mr. Sandman", and even "Dream a Little Dream of Me." Their vocalist is quite talented as he's been able to pull off the usual metal/rock sound, and do even the softer vocals on songs when necessary ("Harvest of Sorrow" and the first minute of "Dream a Little Dream of Me" are probably the best examples of this).

Finally, another metal band; Northern Kings. They're a supergroup from Finland that does covers of some of the strangest music ever to be given a metal twist, and in some cases, they end up doing it just as well if not better than the original.

Recommended covers of theirs:
View to a Kill
Hello
My Way
Take On Me

Anyway, I could go on and basically suggest every band I listen to, but the ones mentioned above (Northern Kings maybe being the exception) are probably the most appealing.

Oh, and if you don't listen to Weird Al a lot already; do so. I know he's funny (and so does everyone else), but I consider him far more talented than some might give him credit for. To be able to do parodies not just of lyrics, but to parody singing/instrument styles, and to be able to keep it up through so many different kinds of music, and to outlast many of the artists he's parodied; that's something else.

Tool- Lateralus
Vicarious
Stinkfist
Wings for Marie Pt 1 and 2

A Perfect Circle - The Outsider
The Noose
Blue
3 Libras

Lovex - Anyone Anymore <----- addictive song

Muse - Pretty much any song
