In an attempt to combine the masculine appeal of robots and sports, Disney offers Real Steel – a film about robot boxers in the future!
The movie isn’t due to be released in theaters until October 7, 2011 but there is already a trailer with lots of over-life-sized Rock ‘em Sock ‘em robot brutality as well as Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, “a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring.” Boo yeah!

Here’s the synopsis from Dreamworks:
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
It’s like Transformers with a plot and without robot talk! The film the obligatory token hottie in Evangeline Lilly and co-stars Kevin Durand, Dakota Goyo and Anthony Mackie. Here are some stills from the movie.

Seen the movie and it blew me away. Love the concept of robot boxing and its quite a realistic idea especially commercial wise. After all in the future tech would be improves and more cheaper to build robots..

Cliche perhaps.but in these times we living its hard to make a good movie. This movie is great. The robots are freeking dope. I never analyse movies so just enjoy the ride. This movie is fdeeking awesomesauce!!!!!!!

I thought this movie was really boring and mediocre. It was so feel-good and just meh in every way. The characters were so unlikeable, the dancing scenes with the robot were just...cringe-worthy.

It was full of those corny lines Hugh Jackman is known for too. And that little cocky kid omg. I wanted to punch his teeth in.

Though I get it's meant to be aimed at kids and I should not expect so much from it but I think it was a little dumb, even for them. The graphics were very nice though and realistic, I will give it that.
