i missed getting him in the gold saucer. is it possible to get back in that room, or i am i screwed in trying to get the master summon materia.

side note: do i need to master EVERY command materia to get the master command?
 
Yes, that is the only place to get rqmuh from what I can remember, and as for the question about the command master materia, yes, you HAVE to master EVERY command materia to get it
 
Yes you have to master every command materia to obtain the Master Command Materia. As for Ramuh I don't think you can obtain it if you already pass that section. Once you win the chocobo race you can't go back to the room.
 
No, you can't go back into that room after you've done the chocobo race. The best time to get it (or really, the only time) is when Ester (Esther? It's been awhile since i've played) is sorting out the race for you.

The master summon materia requires all of the summon materia at master level. The only other you can get is by beating Emerald Weapon as far as I remember, but if you have killed Emerald then there's really no need in a master summon materia anyway.

So basically, no you can't go back there and yes you are screwed over in getting a master summon materia, but you can get another yet somewhat pointless one anyway.
 
You don't need to master ALL the command materia to get the master command. Slash-All, Double Cut, Enemy Skill are a few to note. I'm certain that you can't get Ramuh anymore. You may want to talk to a pro on the excavation site (the area on the way to get to the sleeping forest) on finding materia there. You may get lucky, although I'm pretty certain that you only find items.
 
To get the master materia for either the summon, magic or the command you have to master every materia of that type and then go to cosmo canyon or beat emerald weapon and then go to kalm and speak to the man on the second floor of the house and he will give it to you after you have kicked weapons backside. btw about ramuh your pretty much buggered mate, you cant touch that room after you have won your race sorry.
 
Steal, Throw, Mime, Manipulate, Morph, Deathblow, and Sense. That is all you need to master to get the master command from the yellow huge materia. Having Enemy Skill, Slash All, Double Cut, W-magic, W-Summon, W-Item mastered has nothing to do with it, they will not be merged into a master command. Once you do master the above (steal - sense) go to cosmos canyon and examine the yellow huge materia.

Now with Magic and Summon materia you DO have to have every spell/summon to get the Master Materias for the kind you are looking to get. Since you can't get Ramuh anymore you are limited to only master commands and master magics. Both really good kinds of materia.
 
ok thanks. so i'm completely screwed in the master summon, but if i understand correctly, i can get it soon after i defeat Emerald Weapon? and i think i just need to obtain one or two more magic and then level them up, and i have all of the necessary command materia, just need to level them up.

when it comes to Morph, i can't get the... i don't remember what it's called, but it's the first thing the Kalm Traveler asks for. when it levels up, do i have a better chance of turning the Ghost Ship enemy into that item?
 
Its called the Guide Book and no Morph doesn't get stronger if you master it (it only has one star to master). The best bet is to get Yuffie's Conformer weapon and morph with her. That weapon deals massive damage when used with morph. You find it in that sunken airplane with all the unknown monsters. I never remember the name, but you can get there anytime after you get the sub. Another thing to mention is... you will only be able to get 1 master summon materia. That is all the Kalm guy gives you.
 
I agree with what Sora the Lion said. The best way to get the Guide Book is by using Yuffie and morph it with the Conformer. The Conformer is located inside the sunken airplane which is called "The Sunken Gelnika".

With the conformer its all just a matter of when the ghost ship monster shows up. I know he is kind of rare but not ridiculously rare. He is in the underwater reactor in Junon.

It's actually ok if you missed him the first time. You can dig the Ramuh materia up at the Bone Village once you get to disc 3. Actually, April fools. I just made that up.
You can, however, dig up Bahamut ZERO (very useful knowledge, he's even easier to miss than Ramuh). There is also the W-item to be dug up if you missed it in Midgar..

Just thought I'd let ya know of these, incase you in your chronic carelessness forget and pass by yet ANOTHER. friggin materia.
Don't miss Barret's and Cait Sith's weapons in Midgar though. You only have one chance at those two.
