does anyone know if any of the old rumors surrounding the game have been confirmed? for example, the silver chocobo that can go underwater, extra bosses like onyx, extra meteria, so on and so forth.

I don't think the rumors are true but I have notice some of them appear on different sites a lot but I don't know if they work.
Here is a guide for anyone willing to try and see if they work, at least it shows you how to go about getting most of them but half of them don't sound possible to get

I think there is a relationship between game popularity vs rumours about them.
Like there are countless rumours (some sound very believable) from FFVII, e.g. reviving
, secret [insert weapon name here] weapon monster, etc etc etc

Look at other FF games. I have heard of rumours like:

if you level her up to level 101 (like it's even possible) before you fight
the 2nd time.
-you can see a bonus cutscene where
is seen alive and turning over a new leaf if you kill last boss in 1 hit.
-there is a secret boss in [insert place name here] if you don't use the sphere grid at all.

if you kill Vaan in battle [insert very large number here] times.
-you can de-crystallise
if you use Snow and have him use cure [insert very large number here] times.

Oh god...I cant believe someone has compiled a list of rumours. Do people seriously believe some of these are true? :/
Some of them just sound too ridiculous to logically believe them. That combined with doubtful knowledge i.e. "You have to do X for certain amount of times, but not sure how many" Rumours start but someones over active imagination or hopes, yet are rarely backed up by any facts whatsoever.
Lol oh trust me... people believe them... I remember when this game came out all the rumors from The underwater Chocobo...to fighting another weapon... to having Sephiroth actually joining your team... Turks could join your team... Zack could join your team... You can travel in space with a rainbow chocobo I think... there were secrets to visiting places non existant... and yeah...
That list was only a few of the rumors and yes some people are crazy enough to believe them and then spend ages trying to see if they work, I think some sites have tested them out and only one or two of them were actually true, but I think that the Test 0 one which was only available in the Japanese version and some other one which I think was only available in the Japanese version as well, they were the only ones that worked unless you use like a Gameshark code or something to generate the glitches
Don't forget about the rumor that lets Red XIII's father Seto join your party, all you had to do was get every ultimate weapon and fill all the slots in every weapon with mastered fire and then you talk to some dude in Cosmo Canyon and he will lead you to were Seto is and cast some spell that revives him and then Seto joins your party, and then the one that you were able to fight Bugenhagen if you pressed the lift switch enough times when you first met him which was another good rumor

On the topic of rumors I remember reading one where they said you get Sepheroth in FFVIII if you play the game ten times in a row with the max amount of every item.
I found this to just be silly How would one get every item,and yes this was for the US version, without a pocket station? wich wasnt released outside of japan..You can only get a certain item thet summons the moomba threw it.
Besides that its an ubber amount of gathering imagine having to harvest all those things to make new things ect...Rediculious

Yeah... I remember when I was being young there was the fashion for Pokemon. And everybody said thing's like "talk to him 100 times, beat the main boss 40 times, and you'll get a motorcykle, ride it 200 times, and you'll get Mew"

I remember some of those. The underwater chocobo was a red one. To get Sephiroth you had to get the items from the gold saucer and all of the 1/34 soldiers, talk to Red XIII's "Grandpa" and he would make a clone of sephiroth. Never heard of the turks joining. I remember people saying in Midgar Disk 1 when you jump out of the train, and head the wrong direction you needed to fight X amount of the guards and Zack will join.
That's the way I heard them anyways. All of them are false and proven so by game hackers.
