OLD NEWS but in case not everyone is aware of this. We can not share among 5 active ps3's anymore. It has been reduced to 2 active ps3's. I reckon its also for DLC... so for COD people I suggest you deactivate 3 ps3's out of the 5 people you shared content with.

PSA: Sharing restrictions between PSN games go in effect today

Following yesterday’s scheduled maintenance, Sony has implemented its new PSN game sharing policy between PS3 and PSP. The new policy restricts sharing of new titles to two activated PS3 or PSP systems. The update will not affect content purchased before November 18, but will apply to all content purchased after today, so if you were sharing titles between five devices before then, it’s all still good to go. Those who wish to deactivate a device, can do so here.

Wait, I had no idea the number was reduced. Really? That's really rather shitty, tbqh. I didn't really share often, but the multiple consoles helped me when I got around. I have family back home who I go to visit and play a few things with them, I play on Kira's console when I'm overseas and that doesn't even mention the fact that I have multiple PS3s in the house.

Oh well, I guess. What can you do? :hmph: Guess I'll be ringing people up every time a day or so after I leave asking them to deactivate my account from their console.

I can understand Sony wanting to avoid five people paying once for a game between them, but the fact this prevents people like Pockets from using their account and game on multiple consoles is rather unfair. Personally, I think people who support the PSN should be allowed to move their game about. I'm even in favour of sharing certain games...

They'd be better to limit the number of games you can share across 5 consoles than limit how many times you can share each game. In doing so, they could limit pirating without penalising those who simply use their game on multiple consoles.

Also, what about people whose console breaks, requiring them to buy a new one. If they've shared their game once, or put it onto a PSP, are they gonna have to buy their downloaded games again? :(

Lirael you can deactivate certain ps3's so that wont be an issue.
2 ps3's is a bummer though and yeah I can definitely understand Jeff's problems.
PSN games and DLC though so I dont think thats that big of a problem. I think we'll get used to it soon enough.. sigh it is what it is.

BTW How to deactivate a ps3 is something I have to research about :hmmm:
Friend of mine had his psn account on my 2nd guest profile account. He wanted me to delete that guest profile account so his psn account will be deleted as well.

That might work. So if you ever logged in on another ps3 with your psn account try to delete that profile you logged in. I know since the hacking only 1 psn account can be attached to that profile.

It's really not hard to deactivate the account. On your XMB go to "Account Management" undernearth the Playstation Network icon. On that list there is a thing called "System Activation" where you enable/disable the account. You don't have to delete downloads from the account...they just won't work anymore until you reactivate the account on that console.

Awesome I will deactivate 3 ps3's then today. I reckon the ps3's names will confuse me though...I probably have to deactivate them all.

THX bro for the fix :D

The bright side is that it only affects content downloaded after November 18th. So it's not directly affecting the PS3 and PSP activation, it's just affecting the games itself? :hmmm: Not entirely sure how all of this works because I rarely do any of that :wacky:

It depends on how many different ps3's you have downloaded dlc/psn games on.
I have activated 5 different ps3's, but if I want to share future dlc/psn games I will have to deactivate 3 ps3's out of 5...

Not sure which ones tbh so I will deactivate all 5 just to be sure. or does my own ps3 count as one?

Man this is confusing..:lew:

Your own console counts as one. Which is why it ultimately fucks me. :damon: Anyhow, it shouldn't really effect the activation of the accounts. You can activate and deactivate them endlessly (unless something else was also put into place) if you were to so desire. In the end it's not impossible to work around if you're NOT game sharing, but a right pain the ass for everyone in the end.

I'm not entirely sure if online passes are tied to accounts, but they may have ran into a big issue with that now that it's been implemented and people sharing them (and thereby completely bypassing this safeguard). That's entirely speculation, though.

Online passes I'm pretty sure are tied to the account that it was activated/bought on, and not the PS3. Could be wrong, and I hope I am. Buying a game and having an online pass for one person out of two or more people that play it would suck :damon:
