Okay, so I was wondering around the official Playstation website, when in the dropdown menu from my name I noticed a selection titled "PSN BETA" and I couldn't help but wonder what it was. Given the PSN is not in any kind of beta that I know of, it confused me. Now when I did select it, it told me "Your permissions do not allow you access to this section."

Are they doing some sort of reboot of the PSN? Some new project, maybe? I haven't heard any kind of news about something like this, and I gotta say I'm pretty curious.

Sony adds Quests to PlayStation Rewards Program

Sony has announced the addition of Quests to its beta for the PlayStation Rewards Program.

To help users advance their status as Select, Pro or Legendary, Quests will “provide yet another fun way for members to participate and earn progress”.

Quests are PlayStation-related activities Rewards members complete to add to the progress meter. To progress, participants can, as an example provided by the US PS Blog: “Earn progress for playing an eligible PlayStation Move game in the “Move It” quest, for watching PlayStation Network’s PULSE in HD on their PS3 system in the “Check Your Pulse” quest, or for visiting the Central Plaza in PlayStation Home in the “No Place Like Home” quest”.

Nine Quests will be released in the beta today, and more will be added throughout the year.

Remember, in order to continue adding experience to your progress bar, just keep playing games, watch the PlayStation Network’s original programming, review games, play around in Home.

PlayStation Rewards will officially become available in April.
So far, this is still US only, but we bet it eventually happens on the other side of the ocean as well.

I realize how late of a response this is, but fuggit, I'll post anyhow. That's interesting, weird they haven't put a little more ads about it aside from the site though. Figured this would be something they'd glamorize (we all know how Sony is about their "big" releases). Thanks for the info, though. Gonna look a bit more into this.

PlayStation Rewards Program wraps beta, gets delayed indefinitely

Not all betas function as glorified demos while their creators sip champagne, run victory laps, and then come to the very unpleasant realization that physically mixing metaphors probably isn’t the best idea. Case in point: the PlayStation Rewards Program. Its beta is nearly across the finish line, but it’s far from home free.

“We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in the PlayStation Rewards Beta, which is ending on March 31st. Your feedback helped us understand the kinds of things that make you feel appreciated and valued,” Sony told beta participants in a recent email (as reported by 1UP).
“Based on what we learned, we have decided the program is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned. But rest assured, we will continue to thank loyal and devoted customers like you with innovative offerings.”
In its current form, the program offers all manner of spiffy bonuses – including avatars, themes, Home content – in exchange for participation as a member of the PlayStation playerbase and the completion of goal-oriented quests. When/if the program returns, however, it could very well be an entirely different beast.

You just crushed my dreams, I hope you know that. :hmph:

No, lol, but seriously, at least they realize that they aren't ready and don't roll out half-baked plans that they will have to later skewer in order to keep content flowing(PS+ subscriber, which was originally weekly, not bi-weekly :hmph:). It sucks that they aren't rolling it out as soon, as I would have liked to check this out but I'd rather be satisfied with what they are doing.

On a side note, I wonder how people feel when they're the ones that have to break shitty news like this to the community. Most people would try to eat you alive, I'd imagine.
