Alright, as astonishing as this sounds, I've never used the internet on my PS3. I was fine just playing my games on the system, but I'd been hearing how awesome PSN is and I finally managed to access internet through my PS3.

After I connected to the internet the first time, the PS3 told me that I needed to do a necessary update. It would remove the "Other OS" option, but if I didn't do it, I would've even be able to go on PSN D=

So I just wanna know, what exactly is this Other OS thing? Will I be screwed for life without it? I wanna use internet and access PSN on my PS3 now that I know I can access it, but I've been reading a lot of angry comments about the removal of the Other OS too :hmmm:

I've had no problems since I got the upgrade. I don't what about the other thingy, you should probably ask James about that as he is a computer nerd guy. Getting the upgrade has made no difference to what my PS3 can do vis a vis the internet and accessing PSN and the PSN store etc.

Other OS literally means Other Operating Systems.

- This isn't a feature you should be using anyways, it only slows your internet down.

Just turn it off on the settings menu when you're done updating.

I had no problems either and my internet/ PSN works just fine after I upgraded as well. I don't think it'll harm anything. But of course, it's totally up to you on whether you want to or not. Ususally the PS3 wouldn't ask to get rid of/ install/ etc anything unless it's important. I trust my ps3 and it's been good to me :ryan: So, i think you should be fine if you were to do so.

The "Other OS" refers to Linux which was removed because people were trying to hack the PS3 through it so they got rid, 99% probably didn't even know they had the option, and even if they did they probably didn't use it. :wacky:

Removing it creates more space if anything

Alright, I did the update, but now I have another problem - I can't log in with my psn account D=

I made the account on my PC, but apparently my email address to log-in with is too long. Is there a way to fix this or something? Dx

EDIT: Owait, nvm - it's okay now >_<
