Okay, this is from March... but this is the first I'm hearing of it. And my parents watch Glenn Beck ALL THE TIME. My dad can't stand him so he watches every night. How the hell did I miss this?

Here's some videos. I can't find any news articles. And yes, I know how many people hate Fox news...but it's all I have.

You can receive some more information over here at FactCheck.org.

What the hell is going on?

Couple things.

A) Fox News is not news. It's entertainment.

B) Glenn Beck is not a reporter. He's a trained monk-... pundit.

FactCheck says it all. Fox "news' is taking something that's perfectly legitimate and twisting it around to make it as sinister sounding as possible. Just like they do with anything and everything Obama does or tries to do. The Corps does not answer to Obama, it answers to the Surgeon General, and will be used in health care emergencies (Katrina, for example). It is much the same way as the National Guard is called in during similar emergencies.

Hahahaha, my God. It's like you were looking into my mind. I was going to say the exact same thing (although in a different manner), but I'm glad that someone else recognizes the joke that both Fox news and Glenn Beck are. Personally, I wouldn't take either to heart; especially after Fox news admitted they have given false reports/information/taking a spin on things to the public for none other than ratings.

These people are just a bunch of crack pots hiding under the unfortunately legitimate veil of belief of a good portion of this country (right wing conservatives). Their motto is hardly true: "Fair & Balanced" my ass.

In regards to Obama, it is painfully obvious just how biased they have been towards him in the past.

I find it hard to understand why anyone would willingly watch Fox News for anything other than a laugh, but hey, they've got a large following and that's just how it goes. *shrug*

Okay, can anyone explain this without saying something to make Fox News a lesser broadcasting channel?

1: I believe the factcheck article already does a good job of explaining the truth of the matter in detail. I read through it and it explains everything perfectly.

2: If you want commentary on the story as it was presented by Fox, without at the same time demeaning Fox, then I am afraid you're out of luck.

The truth about the new Ready Reserve Corps is a lot less interesting than the conspiracy theories. Before the law was passed, the Public Health Service, unlike other elements of the government’s seven uniformed services, didn’t have a "ready reserve" – a cadre of individuals who could be called up involuntarily in times of need. What it had was a regular, full-time corps of 2,800 doctors, nurses, scientists and other medical professionals, which was the limit under law. It also had a reserve corps. But most of the individuals in the reserve corps, which was larger than the regular corps, were on extended active duty for the duration of their careers; in other words, they worked full-time, just like the regular corps, because they were needed, but the statutory cap prevented the service from bringing them into the regular corps.

The new law eliminates the personnel cap and brings the members of what used to be the reserve corps into the regular corps, which as a result now numbers about 6,600, according to an official at the Public Health Service who spoke to us on background.

And the law creates the ready reserve of individuals who can be called up for service by the U.S. surgeon general in times of need; the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is often used as an example of an incident that might trigger a call-up.

Fox News is the most bias, stupid, "news" network of all time. They hired on Serah Palin just to have her "intelligent" input on what Obama is doing. Which is why people like John Stewart rip into them every night.

Fox News = Faux News

Don't trust a thing you see on Fox News. :ffs:

Well, I suppose so... But then again, NBC and CNN both are biased towards Obama's side, so I can't trust them either >.<

Who the hell can I trust! *historically cries*

As I've said before; NBC/MSNBC are left leaning, but they still call Obama out on things when he messes up. CNN is a centrist tabloid that puts out whatever story happens to grab the most headlines (Obama's campaign, Palin's debut, Balloon Boy, the Clinton-Lewinsky Scandal, OJ Simpson, etc.)

As I see it; MSNBC is left-leaning, but accurate in the basic facts. They do however, tend to make their stuff sound more outraged when the right screws up apathetically rational when the left blows it.

FOX is right-leaning and will twist the basic facts to make whatever they're saying sound as demeaning to the left as possible. When the right screws up, they either don't mention it, or still find a way to make it sound like it's the left's fault.

CNN is largely neutral, but tends to inject pizazz to make a story more dramatic (Obama SLAMS Republicans, Glenn Beck RIPS Jon Stewart, etc.). Also of note; Roland Martin is far left, and Ed Rollins is far right.

CNN is the most honest, centrist reporting organization in the business. They do tend to lean towards the more "extravagant" stories at times, but they have great coverage of politics and are always willing to present all sides of an issue.

On the other hand, Fox News isn't "news", it's journalistic analysis padded with conspiracy theories and segments my extremist right wing talk show hosts. They are absolutely bottom tier in terms of credibility. If this story isn't evidence of this I'm not sure what could be.
