Does anyone else dislike when regular songs or films are filled with negative political or religious propaganda. I understand that there are some bands or movie producers out there that cater to this kind of thing (Michael Moore, Rise Against, etc) but sometimes it's just thrown into everyday songs or movies for seemingly no reason.

Take for instance two examples (of classic rock which none of you bastards will relate to): Hymn 43 by Jethro Tull and Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden. One is about wars and violence that occurs as a result of religion and the other is about the slaughter of the American Indians. While both are extremely good songs, they're both very opinionated and pointed songs. I just find it weird that no one would really realize that they're intended to be politically charged unless you really listen to the lyrics, because the music is so good.

ololololol Iron Maiden political.
I'm not sure that you could really call M Moore a film maker, all he does is recite anti-conservative catch-phrases.
It's not as if you're blind sided by this. If are unfortunate enough to see a Moore 'doumentry' you'll know to expect his usual whinging about everything. Same as if you turn on Fox News, you know that they'll give a very conservative opinion.
Some songs are created just to get a message across eg Sing if you're glad to be gay, and Sunday bloody sunday.
I don't think that there is any point getting angry and annoyed by something obvious.

I guess a lot of people like what I call escape entertainmet. It is not really serious. Just out for good fun or to be entertaining. But sometimes people need a message to open their eyes to a serious problems. Some of the movies are bad and dont have good facts. But others are done quite well.

Some of the best popular music was written during the Vietnam War Era. A lot of it is very serious stuff.

Actually this point is way over done, tired of hearing it because we should all not be so naive about it. Every artist does it, once they get in their niche and get the fame needed, they finally start putting what they truly think into their music.

It's called "Their message". Let's take for example most of the modern music..

How many Anti War songs do we have, that are not necessarily defined as it at first, but from futher investigation of the lyrics you understand the true meanings? Not listing a single band here, because I could go on .. and on... and on..

How many anti American songs do we have out there? Rage against the machine (RATM), America is the machine. Zach is a huge supporter of giving his ethicity rights. He points out the double standards of America's political system as well burning a hole into our definition of Freedom. Trust me I love Rage, but damn they can be so cold every now and again. (I can't tell if they are back together or not) Dixie Chicks blasting bush, but then again who wouldn't these days? Eddy Vedder from Pearl Jam doing the same thing... I mean there are tons of examples in this catagory.

How many anti Religious songs do we have out there? Tool is a major example, Perfect Circle, Ozzy Osborne (not to hard to realize there, then most death metal out there. Godsmack was a funny one because my parents are Presbyterian Christian conservative, when they heard the band's name... I laughed when they said how horrible it was.

How many Terrorist songs do we have out there? Let me say .. if you don't already know.. "M.I.A." the band who sang paper planes is actually a terrorist support group. They sing about giving out AK47's to terrorist troops, sing about prostitution (hussling), and also attaining illegal visas for terrorists friends. All the while, our thirteen year old girls are singing their heads off to these songs... Granted I'm guilty of loving the percussions and voice behind the band, excellent originality.. but.. you should invest time into looking up lyrical definitions.

I could go on and on with bands.. but I get your idea, but if people haven't realized it by now.. most people have a hidden message behind their lyrics in their songs.

I can't listen to Rush anymore because of it. Well, that and the fact that 2112, what used to be my favorite Rush album, was dedicated to fuggin' Ayn Rand.

Usually, though, if I agree with the politics and the lyrics are well done, I don't mind it so much. Although, I tend not to bother trying music I know is overtly political...

The political message seems to bother most when they realize it (if they realize it).

Personally I don't mind the messages most of the time. But now and then I find a song I don't like the message of and will avoid it at every turn. If it comes on the radio, I'll change the channel or turn it off. I won't buy a CD with it on there, even if I like the bands other music. I even turn them off when in my friends homes and cars half the time. The other half I just weather it, mostly depending on just how much said friend likes said song. The more they like it the better chance they have of me not turning it off.

One such song is on Guitar Hero World Tour and I had to play it in order to progress in the game. It was very upsetting that I had to compromise one moral for another (I had to interact with the song in order to complete a goal, and when I set goals I always meet them, even if it is not as fast as I would like).

honestly all you should really have to do is listen to the song once to get weather or not its politically charged, and personally if you have a problem with the music then you shouldn't listen to it.i myself do not like that they hold the messages that they do but many music artists do not share my political beliefs but i have to deal with that, and that 90% of the people i interact with on a day to day basis have beliefs that are to the far left but i do it anyways.so i guess what i'm trying to say is that people will listen to it if it truely didn't bother them.

If you look at American Political Talk show hosts, its vast majority is conservative, liberal opionated people like Al Franken lost their jobs(I cant imagine what caused such a calamity :D), while the news is dominated by liberals(CNN, MSNBC, etc).

Just listen to whatever perks your interest, I'm somewhat of a Moderate-Conservative, so I prefer listening to 970, and watching Fox News(That doesn't mean I believe everything they saw though ;) ).
