Yeah I'm talking the original games that started it all. I began playing Yellow first but Red/Blue are just as good in my mind. I'm a fan of the original 150 plus the add on of Mew racking it up to 151. I like Gold/Silver okay but Red/Blue are still my favorite.

Who's here play the original games for the Game Boy? I have the urge to play Pokemon Red over again and catch them all! o.o

Pokémon Yellow was my first Pokémon game, and I'll always be gutted that they didn't remake it for GBA.

I remember when Red/Blue/Yellow first came out (I think you need to group all three together really), Pokémon was massive. All the kids at school had it and all the kids down my street had it. I still remember everyone being all excited over seeing who would get all 150 Pokémon first xD In the end, there was a huge contest between a brother and sister down our street, they used to negotiate who they would trade for who in order to max out their Pokédexs'. In the end, the brother got 150 Pokémon first, but then the sister used the Mew glitch and got 151, so she won xD

While the games were huge at the time, I don't think I could play the originals again. They're just too slow and clunky now compared to the new games.

I could play Fire Red / Leaf Green all day though. Kanto may be the most boring region, but it has the best Pokémon, and it has the nostalgia effect.

Amen to that. I hate all of these new Pokemon designs, and not just because of nostalgia.
They just seem to become more and more uninspired, for me.

I dunno, maybe I could play Yellow over and over though.
Any game where I get Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle on the same team without having to trade is a plus.
And Pikachu is just adorable. <3

Gold/Silver was just overall better than Red/Green in my opinion; smoother graphics, better soundtrack, bigger adventure, more pokemon. But Red was the one that got me into the game and I have so many memories.

3 or 4 years ago when I was still at high school, me and a few mates decided to whip out the old Red/Green versions and had a mini tournment during the lunch breaks. Really great fun and it brought back a lot of memories.

I still remember how happy I was when my Magikarp and Charmeleon first grew to lv.20 and 36 and evolved into Gyarados and Charizard... That little pause the game makes before you level up just built up so much excitement.

Good times... Lapras is still my favourite, even after all the new ones.

My brother has Red and Emerald and I just can't get into Emerald long enough to level up. Now Red is a different story. I beat red over and over and never does it get old. Beat it seventeen times to be exact. I'd have to say from the vet games, my fav is still Charmander.

Red and Blue were awesome sauce. Yellow was good too. I don't play them anymore...although, I could because my Advance SP still works! I will never forget how "crappy" they pokemon looked in the originals though, haha...click here.

It's a shame though, because I have Gold and Silver, but I stopped playing Pokemon shortly before Crystal came out, so I never got it. But I got back into the games last year (thanks in part to roms), so I went back and got Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Then I got Heart Gold and Soul Silver when they came out.

The original 151 are by far the best, and after however many years of not playing them, I could still name probably 90% of them. Any more, it seems like they are running out if ideas for pokemon, but there is occasionally one that I like. Black and White look like they will be fun though.

Although, as much as I know it will never happen, I'm still waiting for some of the original unobtainables to be obtainable somehow without an event. Maybe start with Mew and Celebi. Oh well, one can hope.

Pokemon Red was awesome. I spent so many hours playing it, and I can remember how excited I was when Yellow came out...see, now if Pokemon Yellow could recreate Pikachu's cry - a GAMEBOY game - why the hell are we still stuck with those shitty cries t Then I pestered my mother ENDLESSLY for about a month to play Red, and when she finally relented I wished she hadn't, because it suddenly became very difficult for me to play my Gameboy because she was always on it. xD

I doubt I could play it now, though. Not only because my GBA SP cable has gone missing, but because they'd be so damned slow. I've gotten used to see the little blue bar that roughly shows how much experience your Pokemon needs to get to the next level...not to mention the sprites were absolutely godawful back in the day. xD

Gods, I miss the days when Pokemon was actually GOOD.

When it came to Pokemon Red I usually chose Charmander and in the case of Blue it was Squirtle. I know the first two Gyms are supposed to be the hardest with Charmander as a starter but I tend to recall kicking Brock's ass with ember. Though I always insisted on catching a Pikachu so Misty was toast no matter what I picked. My last play in Blue I racked up four gym badges and my starter was Bulbasaur just to be different. Got a Sandshew evolved into a Sandslash later and man did that thing just go berserk on everything.

My new Yellow doesn't seem to work and I don't want to restart on the other Yellow I have because it has all 150 Pokemon on it.:sad3:

Blue was my first. I fell in love. I've always wanted to try Yellow because of that Pikachu bullshit, but I never did. I should hunt that bitch down one of these days because damn.

I also enjoy catching them all.
