Any one else wanted the main characters to have some sort of different outfits? It's like they travel all this way, get wet, dirty, filthy, and they still keep the same clothes on.

There is not one FF game (besides FFX-2) that I know of that the characters can change their main outfits.

So, my question is...would you like to see future FF games have a changability of clothes?

That has never bugged me about games in general, but it would be nice to see some of the characters in different outfits, or at least have alternate outfits available to be un-locked somehow. It was nice seeing some of my favorites like Aerith and Tifa get new looks, but there are others I'd like to see.

It's nice that Celes has different designs when she's drawn by Amano, and compared to how she looks in the game. That's kind of a nice thing about Amano art, I've noticed. =)

I never gave much attention to that until FFX. When they were about to enter Mt. Gagazet I thought "well, they're gonna freeze to death and game over". XD I mean most of the characters come from tropical-weather Besaid and Rikku comes from a freakin' desert but even so they cross a snow-stormy place dressed like that o_O

I think it should be nice if a FF game had an outfit change feature ^^ I can even imagine Yuna crossing Mt. Gagazet dressed in that White Mage outfit she wears in FFX-2 ^^

Hahaha i always think that Mainly when they swim in water like wakka and tidus in besaid at the beginning of FF10 Somehow as soon as they come out of the water there dry again :awesome:

And Rikku wearing those shorts going through Macalania woods Rather her then me :P

yeah same here, that didn't really bug me till FFX where the graphics got a LOT better. You'd think that their clothes would be dirty and dusty from the desert and wet from Besaid and then like Lunatic said, They should have been frozen in Gagazet :P

X-2 has somewhat of a changing system but thats only in battle. You can't see Yuna run around in the open as a Gun Mage or Songtress or anything. It'd be a cool idea to encorperate into other Final Fantasy games in the future.

I think with the earlier games it didn't really matter, but FFX onwards, it would have been nice to see outfit changes.

In FFX for example, Lulu lives on a freaking tropical island, yet wears that dress, with fur. FUR! Surely she'd like, melt in that dress? And in FFXII, Ashe and Fran, they would have frozen in those snowy plains O__O It was a bit unrealistic to think Ashe could fight around in the snow, while wearing a mini-skirt.

It would be great if the next FF games changed clothes according to the weather/surroundings, I know it's a fantasy game, but a little touch of reality would be pretty sweet.

Ummm lol what would Yunas outfit change to if it was changed. I found X-2 Yuna to be quite revealing. Oh and shes wearing no bra under Is she supposed to freeze at Mount Gagazet? Same with Lulu. Shes like wearing nothing but a fur dress. OH how about Rikku shes got a bra and bikkini shes going to fucking freeze in mount gagazet. Well the gullwings are sexy sphere hunters lol. But like same for characters who cant change there outfit in the ff series. Rosa should melt in the lava underworld.

Yeah it would be nice for characters to wear thick woolly jackets around colder places.

And maybe thick amour wearing characters like Cecil and Kain from FF IV would take off their amour around lava / really warm based places. You can't expect Kain to wear that heavy Dragoon outfit and not faint while underground. XD

But a costume change would be cool. Like-

When Cloud remembers he was never a proper Soldier he no longer wears his Soldier uniform, but a Clothing changed that shows that he was apart of the lower Class. Or when Zidane finds out that he's a angel of death ( or was made to be one ) he would change into something more darker and mysterious- like a black evil cape or something..

MAdness

ff4 - guy changes clothes when turning from dark knight to paladin
ff5 - job changes so does clothes
ff6 - Edgar, Locke, and others change clothes, Edgar when you find him in world 2, lock when your about to find Celes in world 1.
FF7 - although not a lot but Tifa during flash back, Cloud when he sneaks around in the SOLDIER outfit.
FF8 - Characters have Seed outfits as well as normal clothes.

Anyways, I think they should of had a legendary accessory that changes outfits in battle. Kingdom Hearts changes clothes depending on what world you go to, its a good series.

The outfits are part of the character's design, so in a way I kinda like not being able to change the characters clothes. However with that said, it would be nice to see them in different outfits for certain conditions such as when they swim and when they are in the extreme cold.

The characters change clothes quite often lol. The beginning of FFVIII came immediately into my mind when I read the first post in this thread. I'm also unsure that custom outfits would be a wise usage of memory, compared to additional storyline or side quests that could be used in the same memory space.

There should be some costumisation, like bracers, shoes, perhaps the color of the chest and leg armor(the model has to remain the same, due to overall design of characters)

And obviously.. Weapons and off-hands.

I actually agree with a few people and think that when it comes to certain locations in the games, (in which the clothes they are wearing would be deemed either too cold or too hot for them to wear) that they should have a wardrobe change.

Going through the mountains of Mt Gagazet in FFX seriously called for a humongous, heavy, furry collared jacket that's for sure. XD

But it really didn't bother me too much at all to be honest. It would have been nice to see some different outfits but it's really unnecessary considering it's just a game anyway. XD

it doesn't brother me that they usually don't change outfit but i think it would be nice if they had different outfit. it would just make it a little more fun and interesting if you could change the outfit your main characters are wearing. its not needed but it would just add a little to the game play

When I was younger this subject aggravated me more than it does now. I always used to think things like...for example in 7, Midgar appears to be FILTHY. So shouldn't the characters walking around there be dirtbags too? I mean I'd take a shower every time I got back from a trip there. Or when they go swimming in FFX? How do they float with those clothes on? How do they hold their breath so long? How! Or they go to Mt. Gadgazet sp and they don't freeze? Or that place where they got struck by lightning (which makes me lol) but their clothes don't get singed?

It doesn't bother me too much but I often find myself "realizing" it. =P I personally don't care one way or another.

Thats why I liked X2, it was nice to see the characters personality brought out in the different outfits they wore. Ive seen some fan art over the years with FF characters ib beach wear, pjs, christmas outifts, etc. And it doesnt hurt to make a character stand out in a new outfit. Plus the amount of ash theyd make if they made FF figures with changing outfits lol.

There were outfit changes in...

FFI: When your classes get upgraded (ex: Fighter changes to Knight)
FFIII: Whenever you change your class.
FFIV: Cecil changed, but that's about it.
FFV: Again, whenever you changed your class.
FFVI: Very briefly with certain characters.
FFVII: Only in certain scenes, Tifa, Aerith and Cloud all changed for the Don Corneo part of the game and Cloud changed into a shinra infantry outfit both at the Junon parade and in flashbacks. Characters also changed when they were on the boat going from Junon to Costa Del Sol.
FFVIII: For a while in SeeD uniforms.
FFIX: Garnet changed her outfit multiple times (sometimes to white mage robes, other times to a dress), Zidane disguised as a Pluto knight at the beginning of the game and he wore robes at the end of the game during the play.
FFX: Err... Well Yuna wore a wedding dress and Rikku wore that weird outfit at the beginning of the game.
FFXII: No comment...
FFX-2: Obviously.

Personally, I just assumed they had like twenty duplicate outfits stashed in their inventory and wore a clean one every day. :awesome:

It doesn't really bother me,but I think it would be neat to see different outfits. In FFX2,you have so many different outfits that your characters can change into in battle. It's nice to be able to see other things that they would like to wear, and if you are a cosplayer it gives more outfits for you to cosplay.

I also agree with a few people that said climate changes should call for different outfits. I always thought whenever Steiner,Vivi,Garnet, and Zidane are going through the Ice Cavern that they should have different outfits because it looks so cold! Garnet should atleast have her white mage robe for it,but I understand that they can't exactly pack clothes in games when they are leaving their homeland because most of the time they are doing it in a hurry. But it would be neat if you could buy different clothes and then see the outfit changes on them when you equip those clothes to your characters.

I wouldn't mind abit of outfit customisation, even if its just adding/removing layers dependent on the location. Tifa must have froze her NIPPLES off on the Great Glacier. Dunno where they'd carry these extra clothes mind...maybe there should be like clotheses shops or some shit and er....the clotheses get stored.....somewhere

Ah whatever, I wouldn't mind extra clothes. I got quite excited when I saw FFVIII had different outfits but alas, it was just a teaser

Maybe in VIII they wanted to implement the outfits idea but the concept got abandoned.
