Who was the hardest optional boss you did?
Mine was King Tonberry, because I did it at a very high level(89). It took like three hours ad he still killed me with his junk drop attack. I HATE that move.

If your stats for your party is high enough, Tonberry King shouldn't be too bad. I always casted Protect on my party too when battling him as well. I generally fight him with my party in the 20's/30's and he doesn't give me much trouble.

But to answer your question, I suppose it's a toss-up with who the toughest enemy is. Omega Weapon has over 1 million HP and is statistically very powerful. But considering how late in the game you go against him, you'll have a ton of goodies to work with and the battle becomes a little easier. The other enemy that will be very hard is Ultima Weapon. You can battle Ultima Weapon a lot earlier and naturally won't have all the goodies you have later on. I like fighting Ultima as early as possible so I can acquire Eden as early as possible (she levels up a lot slower than the other GF's). I go against him in the 20's/30's as well, and he's a tough customer. The biggest difference you'll see between the 2 is that Ultima is ridiculously fast, he can wipeout your team before they get a chance to act. I think because of this, I'd have to say Ultima Weapon is the toughest, but with correct junctioning, and a little luck, he can certainly go down.

Omega Weapon, by a huuuuuge stretch. I can't think of a more obnoxious optional enemy from any other FF games (I've not experienced Ozma or Penance so leave me alone -_-) than the permutation of Omega from FF Eight.

His HP isn't really an issue, it's easy enough to cut down. Furthermore, he actually follows a distinct attack pattern, and a few of his attacks are completely avoidable (LV5 Death for instance). However, this boss is very fast and has some nasty combination attacks. He'll use Megiddo Flame (does 9998 damage) and follow it immediately after with Meteor and wipe out your party...and then there's Terra Burst. Terra Burst, the un-dodgeable super-attack that I don't think I ever survived without Holy Wars or using GFs as meat shields.

So yeah, Omega's near impossible without making yourself invincible and getting lucky with your Limit Breaks...so I rate him the hardest. Most of the other optionals were pretty easy to handle imo.

Tonberry King, just for the sheer fact you have to go through 20+ normal ones, gaining no EXP while you're at it, before you get to him, and even then he takes a fair while :ness: Ive never died on him before thank GOD, but he's easily the worst for me

Omega was abit of a bugger, I died alot before finally getting into a rythm and beating him xD

Tonberry King takes the biscit though -_-

Oh and Jumbo Cactuar if the swineth excapes ¬.¬

Having beaten all of the optional bosses in this game, I must say that I think Omega Weapon is the hardest. Like Ron Burgundy said, he has lethal attack combinations. I forgot to use invincibility items and he used Terra Break. He KO'd Squall and Irvine but Rinoa somehow managed to survive with 1200 HP. I almost reset my console, but quick thinking made me stop and I used a Mega Phoenix instead, and I was back in business. Squall and Irvine's limits were my main source of damage with the occasional attack from Rinoa and she even used her most powerful attack once! I got really lucky in that fight.

This may make me sound like a noob, but I thought Diablos and Cerberus were difficult when I first fought them. Whenever I tried to blind Diablos it would always miss and he killed me. Cerberus was always hard because he would use that double and triple shit on himself and take my party to the woodshed. Then I decided "Ok enough of the red headed step child beatings, this dog is goin down."
But they took me awhile to beat.

Omega Weapon definitely! I refused to refine any of my cards for items to be invincible. I counted on Rinoa to do Invincible Moon, although she didn't like to do it alot. I also counted on her to do Wishing Star. I counted on Selphie for Wall and Full Cure, and I counted on squall for Lionheart. I died a few times before I finally beat him. I was so surprised when I did, because he went down alot faster then I thought he would.

Tonberry King killed me once with the Junk move on my first game, but on my other play throughs I've made it without dying. I hate having to kill 18-20 tonberries to get him to spawn so I just use the easy way of Kamikaze. haha.

Ultima Weapon was very easy for me. I killed him faster then I had time to draw Eden. Then I reset my console, and did the same thing! So I reset it again and wouldn't attack Ultima Weapon until I had Eden.

I've beaten all the optional bosses on there, and Omega Weapon still stands for me as the toughest one!

Finally beat Omega last night (after years of waiting!)

I tried when I was young in earlier playthroughs and died a couple of times so i gave up. But did it on my current play through :awesome:

First time, got 1 lion heart out before he wiped me out. my damn hero ran out. I suppose it is a bit like cheating, but he's bloody quick and i almost ran out of mega phoenixes/phoenix pinions as i had about 1 of each left :$ Anyway he eventually went down, after my final heaven too which i was pretty chuffed about finishing him off with!:P

He was definitely the hardest boss. Tonberry King is just an arse, he's not that hard I don't think. Cactuar, ditto. Ultima was pretty tough but you only need one lion heart really. Omega has a quite a few devastating attacks in his arsenal as well as having massive hp. The winner in my eyes!

Omega Weapon. Every time i tried to kill him, i always forget to heal before he uses Megido Flame or whatever its called. And since everyone has to be 9999 to survive it, i wipe out every time!!!!!!!!

Omega Weapon, no question about it. That boss killed me so many times I almost gave up. And his HP is HUGE! I tried following the tips from my strategy guide, but that didn't work out for me either. Ultima Weapon was hard, but it really couldn't match up to Omega Weapon. Definitely the hardest optional boss for me.

Omega Weapon. I was lucky enough to defeat it, but other noticeable mentions go to:

Ultimate Weapon, Bahamut. Hm, maybe Giant Cactuar too. King Tonberry wasn't all that bad when I think on it.

Most of them were tough because I played it on my psp and the game freezes a lot so I had to kill them really really fast and save before it did lol.
They were easy while playing on my playstation.

I've beaten all but Omega weapon. I don't remember Tonberry King being a problem, but the Jumbo Cactuar was a monomumental pain in the rear end. It wasn't so bad after I'd properly prepared though (Leviathan Sum Mags +, Water to Elemental Atk etc). Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Omega weapon. He uses lethal attacks and has a wide range. I also forget to heall all the time so I end up dieing again and again.

Use Aura or w/e it was that makes you use limit breaks and then make your self invincible. Then you can just pound away at him.

I was going to say that Jumbo Cactuar took me a helluva long time to defeat because it dragged on forever with the method I was using. I mean I know the Water was the way to kill this mo'fo, so I summoned Leviathan every single time. It took some big damage from it, but my freakin' fingers were numb after the battle from smashing the "O" button or whatever it is for the added Boost.

Other than that, Omega was a bitch without using Squall's Limit Break. I tried to defeat him the legit non-over-powering way, but I think I pulled out a Limit to finish him off.

omega was too tough. his one hit kills got me and molested me till i was scared of the bell ringing that symbolized his appearance. he was hard even with lionheart and that holy war item. what is the best way to kill that demon!?

My side of the story

omega has the same pattern everytime. Which makes him easy if you think about it. Sure if you don't defend and heal at certain times he'll kill you. But if you know when to defend and heal you can fight him until your blue in the face.

Ultima was cool cause Squall would jump on him and pimp slap him for being ugly. Then you could draw Eden which is always a plus. He is probally my Fav. boss fight in the game cause its action packed. Anyways it just requires Squall and his limit break.

Behamut is hard to get to which makes the fight hard. You always have to fight 2 red dragons before you fight him, plus whatever you had to fight getting to the core. It also seemed the enemies were super pissed compared to the world map creations.

Cactar was one of the most annoying fight I had in the game. I was playing with no guide and didn't have a clue he was weak to water. I would use meltdown and blizzard element attacks. He would run away and I never got far. Now if you do find out he is weak to water, and have leviathan, then he is no problem. You'll have him beat before he runs.

Odin is one I'm surprised people haven't talked much about. I was told to use mad rush and watch him die. I did just that and he died.

Tonberry is a hard cause first you need to kill Odin and then 20+ little tonberries. Other then that if you got good junctions you can really laugh at this boss and the summon. The only thing its good for is the call shop.

Diablos is a pain in the arse cause most of the time you fail to draw demi's from him. If your like me and use the lamp when you first get it, you haven't had any enemies to draw demi from. So yeah cast demi on him he'll cure you, you'll defeat him.

Cerberus is a mad boss fight. I would make the mistake of trying to draw doubles and triples from him. I ended up dead on many occasions.

Edit: I almost forgot to answer the question. My Answer is Omega. Yeah like everyone else who has had a fight with him. :)

Ultima weapon was the hardest optional boss for me, but then again, I didn't fight Omega. Ultima was the only boss that I died on in the game, and I found him to be incredibly frustrating. If it wasn't for Eden, I wouldn't have fought him at all. I found King Tonberry, Bahamut, Cactuar, etc to be quite easy. But, I made sure I was prepared for each battle before I fought them. Without preparation, they would have been far more difficult.
