This video is pretty graphic. I got about 20 some seconds in and I just stopped watching. Stuff like this just makes me fuckin' angry. I don't see how someone can go around and inflict pain on an animal just for the hell of it. It's people like this who should have the shit kicked out of them every hour on the hour for the rest of their lives. What are your thoughts on the matter?

The video, recorded between April and May, 2010, shows dairy farm workers beating cows in the face with crowbars, stabbing them with pitchforks, breaking their tails, and punching, throwing, and kicking calves

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — A dairy farm worker accused of abusing cows in an undercover video has had his bond set at $100,000 by an Ohio judge.
A Marysville Municipal Court clerk said 25-year-old Billy Joe Gregg Jr. of Delaware, Ohio, remained in jail after Thursday's hearing. He was charged Wednesday with 12 counts of cruelty to animals and is due back in court June 10 to enter a plea.

I don't see the reason why anyone would be that cruel to animals in the first place. I think it is sick and twisted and they should be punished severely for their pathetic actions.

I wonder if this person have been experiencing sever bullying at a young age and therefore hurts animals too feel all strong and manly. Who the hell with the right mind would actually take a calf knock it down and start hitting it in the face. I mean for god sake its a harmless animal that cannot do a thing against that guy.

I would have understood if someone hit a animal if the animal was ferociously rabid and went on and attacked the guy, but this is just sick.
Reminds me of the freaking KFC case some months back.

I don't understand how people can behave so cruelly toward an animal like that. How can you possibly get pleasure from it.... it's sick. There's no way it can even be justified. At all. Unless the animal attacks you for whatever reason (unles you provoke it , then you desere everything you get ) People like this deserve to be humiliated and tormented, see how they like it

Do they get a kick out of it because the animals can't fight back...? Is it some power thing? I just can't fucking fathom it. Some people are jut complete cunts and don't deserve to share the air we breath

It could definitely be a power thing going on.
I have read about other animal cruelty cases before and often the owner of the animals have basically done it because of power. The animal could not do anything back so he felt all "strong" and "powerful".

I really hope this guy get's some sort of punishment for his actions as what he was doing against the animals was both cruel and sick. I mean it's a dairy farm for crying out loud. They should be taking care of the animals not freaking hit them repeatedly and stab them with pitchforks.

It's just disgusting.

I'm sorry but I can't see the point in this. I found the video despicable and I'm glad the culprits have been exposed and are being prosecuted for their actions. But we all know that animal cruelty is abhorrent already and I really can't see anything to discuss here.

Oh you. Dude, when you think about it, obviously you aren't. But most subjects in this section of the board have already been discussed and well known about before being posted here.

Pedophilia - is it wrong? We all know pedophilia is abhorrent to most people, even though some people might not have a problem with it. Who knows, maybe someone on the forum can relate to someone beating on cows?

What I wanted you to discuss was, other than how you feel. What would you do if this was your farm? What do you think about the guy trying to enter a plea and get a public denfer to defend him in court? Hell, if you really want to get crazy, what would you do if you were the cow? Also, what if you were the people filming for a month? Could you have done it? You could also have done a little more research to actually add to the conversation. Some people have actually done this with my post.

For those of us who have viewed this horrific video, it is unconscionable that this undercover activist would remain silent for that long while these animals suffered miserably from this mistreatment. Those who stand by and do nothing in the face of this horrendous abuse are morally, if not legally, culpable. Western United Dairymen believes that that the severest penalties allowed by law should be imposed on all parties involved, as well as those who failed to stop and report these actions immediately to the proper authorities.”

Just from watching this video, look how much Bledsoe had to say. Look at how he points out that the culprit AND the people recording these atrocious acts are in the wrong. Why record a month? If I had watched this video and it only lasted 5 seconds from only being recorded a few hours with that guy stomping on heads; this guy would have been gone that day.


But with the mentality you have shown here, why talk and discuss stuff like this? "This stuff has been going on forever, why even talk about it? Not a shocker." Yeah, but the shocker is that this stuff is still going on after all these years. Doesn't matter how many times you see it, it's still going to stir the emotions.

Ja, but then that's kind of like saying crimes happened before, and I'm surprised they're still happening. Actually, the fact that crimes do occur, and will continue to occur isn't really a surprise. Animal cruelty is just a part of it.

And I don't think it was a bad idea to have filmed it for a month; at least it shows that these are people who abuse cows regularly and not once or twice because they were pissed off or some other stupid reason.

I can't even watch things like this I know a lot of people in the world, for whatever reason, believe that animals were put here to be our playthings, but there's a difference between ravaging a living creature as though it were a lifeless tool and taking what you need from it respectfully. I mean, throughout history there have been people who've treated their livestock as family pets, given them affectionate names, even actually worshipped them out of gratitude for the resources they provide--and now these factory-farming assholes are going to kick them and treat them like they're nothing more than packages for food that hasn't been processed yet? Those guys should be grateful they don't have to pump their own teats to get milk, for fuck's sake

Actually I did think about it and that's pretty much why I said what I said. Just last month (I think) there was a thread about people stomping on bunnies or something. Last year there was one about stomping kittens. Ultimately it just turns into the same thing over and over. It's the same thing when people post stories about murder and rape, all that happens is people comment on how disgusting/sad etc they think the story is.

Well to be fair, you didn't mention any of this in your original post.

Despite what they have done they are still entitled to a fair trial. The man has every right to get a public defender. However I doubt it will help him much given the disturbing nature of the video. I probably wouldn't be able to film it myself as I would've probably been compelled to stop it. But then again I can't really say what I would've done as I wasn't there.

I'd say recording it for a month would have been necessary to prove that the abuse was ongoing (like J pointed out).

I don't think you can really point fingers at the person recording the incident. The law is a tricky thing and it can often be manipulated to suit your favor. For example there was a case a few years ago where someone was breaking into a house and injured themselves somehow (I don't remember how particularly) and then the owner of the house got sued for neglect or something along those lines.

The point is that having enough evidence to properly prosecute the farmers would have been the top priority. Yes it's sad that the person recording let the abuse continue while he/she was there. But ultimately it means putting an end to the abuse at that particular farm. The ends justify the means.

My mentality wasn't so much "why talk and discuss stuff like this?" but more "why bother when we already know that animal abuse is bad". I assumed that this thread would just involve screaming at the perpetrators for eight pages, which is all well and good, but it's not serious discussion. I'm glad your second post proved otherwise.
