While Square Enix have clearly established two core role-playing game franchises, them being Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, they feel they’ve only established one action role-playing game franchise, that being Kingdom Hearts.

According to Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito, development on Nier began as a “second pillar” to Square Enix’s action RPG, hoping it would one day be within the ranks of Kingdom Hearts. Whether or not it will be is still to be judged.

Yosuke also reassures players that optional “quests, fishing, growing, and many detours” are available in the game that will keep players busy for a long time.

Nier launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 tomorrow, April 27, 2010. The image at the top of this post in from Nier Replicant, the PlayStation 3 exclusive title for Japan.

l got an e-mail fro this game and have to say it looks great any game S-E releases has tobe played to see if its good , l'm just glad its being released in Australia aswell not that i doubted it would be but didnt see a europe release date......but there is one so thats a relief.

Was l supposed to post here:confused:

Hmm, anyone know if the games will have english subtitles in the japanese versions? If so I want to import Replicant

Well, SE only publishes Nier - it's not really like they were the ones who made the game - although they gave the project to Cavia, so I guess it does still count as a SE game.

A bit too early to see whether or not Nier will be a "second pillar" to the highly popular Kingdom Hearts franchise. We'll have to see how it sells first and whether or not the label will survive towards a sequel. If it is successful, that'll be pretty good. A "second pillar" where it's more mature than the KH games is always welcoming.

Not that I know of. I'm not 100% sure though, but I wouldn't really advise you to unless it's that necessary. It's still essentially the same game - just different protagonists that's all. So it really won't affect it that much.

Im just more likened to the Replicant character design compared to the Gestalt one.

You and me both :monster:

I'm kind of confused as to what the article is saying - Nier was originally planned to be a series of games and would hopefully be successful like Kingdom Hearts?
