As the title states above, it is evident the necessity of a better world map. For now I will add the links to the maps suggested by some of the members and add their names to the poll.

Also, I would like to encourage anyone to help us find icons to replace the default Inferno images, like towns, mountains, etc.

World Maps 3 and 4 will be added here:
World Map 3

World Map 4

It's a tough choice. But I will probably go with the Oblivion map.

I love Map #3. Though it's very reminiscent to a map of the Earth, it's different enough that you could easily pass it off as a separate planet, especially with the placement of the polar regions. ^^

I can't view them (being in school ) but I have played oblivion and I loved the map so I vote for oblivion, which map is that?

EDIT: never mind, saw it in the poll :monster:

Well, the only reason I didn't vote for Oblivion's map is that it's more of a country map than a world map.

But how many places would there be in the sea?
I say land>sea. I vote of oblivion.

And oblivion did have some sea locations, and small islands could be the sea areas. Not to mention there are tons of forts and castles that you can explore for fun.

Depends on how fast the computer you use is. Speaking of which, how large will the map be when it is uploaded?

It doesn't look like a WORLD, though... I love the Oblivion map as well, but we're voting for a WORLD map... A.K.A., Could actually pass as the map of a whole planet.

How can you fit a map of a whole world? one thing, if the world is to be spherical then how would you get round to seeing all parts of that world? Unless there are multi-maps being used that idea would not work.

It's been done before, so that's not an excuse... Also, a good way to cheat a world map is add water. For those who complain that water wastes space, I have to things to say...

1. It's more aesthetically pleasing and makes more sense to have more mater than land on a map (unless everything that lives on it has no need for water whatsoever and, thus is permanently dehydrated).
2. You CAN put locations in the water (underwater cities) or on the water (islands, elevated dock cities, or floating port cities). It just depends on the technology level you want in the RPG.

I wasn't making an excuse, I was voicing my opinion. Like the ideas btw, I guess different levels of technology will have different kinds of underwater areas, probably some abandoned civilisations?

I was thinking of that as well... Like a sort of Atlantis thing.

Hmm, maybe in the civilisations there could be an ancient form of defence mechanism for a boss? ie: a droid, strange form of automatic guns, ancient race's guards etc.

Yeah, from what I have seen there is little or no sci-fi elements in the RPG, in games such as ff8 there is a lot of technology cities such as Esther. These could be included.

Exactly. I hate bland pure fantasy... So the idea of cities in/on top of oceans due to technology is an interesting concept. I would have to say the ancient cities would have no NPC's though, unless they're archaeologists.

And I suppose the ancient cities would have a hierarchy of defensive systems, with the highest being the boss.

Yeah, like for instance having various traps that attack you such as pitfalls, fire traps, phantoms, spike pits, geysers and guillotines.
