So, after a little discussion in the staff lounge, Darkblade suggested some new guidelines for warning/suspending/banning members. The new guidelines are as follows:

8 points - 7 day suspension
16 points - 14 day suspension
24 points - 21 day suspension
30 points - permanent ban

Still need to think on this, as me and Angelus haven't looked at it, so it's not finalised just yet.

I dislike warning systems all together. If a member is acting out of hand, then you tell him to stop, and if he doesn't ban for however long is appropiate. Having points and etc just gives people a limit to knowing what they can get away with...not to mention this is giving a lot of chances in this system, and that isn't always good.

I doubt the points expire, as I think I got 3 warning (only 1 has points now), and the expire colomn says NEVER. So I doubt it'll fade off.

Well, it's a good thing to put on. I'm sure several staff members were unsure of when to ban a member. I'm sure I was when I came across one two months ago.

Lol So this isn't permanent yet? Then why tell us about it? To get feedback? Well it's in the News & Update section... so I'm confused.

Well, I think it serves as a warning now and tells us how many points we have to get to finally be banned. Yes, I think this is now for good. I expect us to be using it now.

Riku, you weren't supposed to make this thread when the other admins haven't confirmed the new rules to banning/suspension yet. >_< This was "still" in discussion with the other staff, you know. But anyway, this is just a public announcement so that the members and new visitors are aware of this and when they will know to be permanently banned. I shall update the forum rules & guidelines once the other admins have confirmed this.

Darkblade, could you remove my infraction? I think giving me an infraction that never expires for mentioning "That place" was a little extreme.

What "that place"? I have no idea what you're talking about. Well, whatever that is, please take it via the PM system and not in this thread 'cause you're already ruining it.

Eh, I'm sure we'll live. Even if something does get changed, it's not entirely difficult to click the edit button, now, is it? :P

i got an idea i suggested to Darkblade... but he never gave me a reply... all well he probably was busy

1-8 point - minus 10 posts per point
then when you hit the 8 point mark your graph comes into play
then from that level to the next its 20, 30, 40, etc, it might just encourage people not to spam so much if the posts are taken of them... you know what i mean... but you have to tell them... otherwise... well we will see what happens

The problem is you don't just get warned for spamming or flaming. Psuedomodding and all that also factors in. It might be discouraging but I'm not sure it'd always have a huge impact. I think giving people "time off" from the site would help them cool down and re-evaluate their posts. If they don't shape up, they eventually ship out.

And as annoying as spammers, flamers, and the like are... they usually don't last long enough around here to get banned. As Mitsuki said before, we pretty much act like a family. For the most part, if someone's being a moron, we each frown upon it so much that they just get discouraged and leave. Check the ban logs. Even three pages back, the majority of bannings around here are not because of flaming or spamming... it's because of Duplicate Accounts or Advertising.

Sorry for the spam but you deleted an advertising post in here and now I can't get it out of my UserCP under subscribed threads. It wants to take me to that post but it can't so it won't go away. It's annoying.
