If they didn't try to be creative and unique with their systems I have a feeling we'd be sitting here saying "Omg! Why don't they ever upgrade the battle system!?"

There is no winning with people. lol.

they should defenetely go back to the old battle system ie the randomly generated battles. the battle system in 12 i found hard to follow and that is why i have not played it in depth. i did not enjoy it.

I think there should be an option.

Pause:--> Controls :--> Turn Base Or Realtime

The turn system is ok but i reckon that a tales style battle system is more than welcome, at least only in my opinion.

In FFXII there WAS an option for Real-Time or Stop Mode for when selecting abilities. =/.

FFXII used the ATB gauge just as FFVII did just the people are moving in Real-Time, not a big difference. =/.

I perfer the old style because the battle system was so much easier then it is now. I always perfered the turn base battles because there more tactical as the newer versions are intense.

I was thinking the same; if they try anything new, there's a lot people who complain about liking more the old style. If the they stick on the old system, most people complain about there's no creativity or evolution on the battle system.

I like the idea of make FFXIII Versus for te real-time players, and FFXIII for turn-based lovers.

I voted yes... I love the new graphics they are so good, but, I prefer the old style of fighting... after FF10 the series started to lose the FF feel..

I love both styles. The old style is good, just because that's what I came in on, but the newer styles in the current games are just as good.

I was wondering why none of the newer Final Fantasy's have the same game set up as the older ones. You know where you can run on the world map, and then "enter" areas. With the new power of the systems you could make a Final Fantasy that has an extremely in depth storyline, and character make up, and add more features (like possibly no matter what type of item you put on the character its always visible, like shoes, helmets, etc.) while still making everything look top notch graphics wise.... What do you guys think? Would you like to see Final Fantasy's resort back to the old style or keep the newer type?
Well, considering the graphics back then....the storylines were AWSOME! And since back then, FF had the "best" graphics(like today), I would play for hours!!!!

But now, I actually feel like I'm the character. and with my imagination, i play for even longer than before. the storylines have lost their "original" flare... but I think that's due to the demand of the new consumer. in other words, WE ARE GETTING PICKY!!!!!! hahahah

but yea, when faced the question.. I actually think the NEW FF's are better.. I don't really like playing the old ones anymore. and I CAN"T WAIT FOR 13!!!

-edit-0o0o0o you all are talking about battle systems.. i thought you were comparing 1-6 and 7-13. that's where the old and new line is, IMO.

I used to not like real time battles or the lack of random battles but now, I couldn't imagine playing a game and having random battles. OMG, like in ff8. i used to HATE those random battles.
I prefer AVOIDING battles when I need to. lol

old rules

the new is pretty good but can beat the old classic battle systems

X had it the best I think, shoulda stuck with that, I did miss the exploring the world map shizz at first but I soon got used to it.
XII just took it too far with the battle system and the endless endless bits of land to wander across

Id absolutely love to see the equippable items tho, would make it feel abit more personal :monster:

Iv not voted 'cause I think Im somewhere inbetween :wacky:

I've actually not played any of the original games...I've only had a hand at playing FFVI-FFXII, so I can't say in all fairness what I like more. But I hear that FFIX was a retouch on the "roots" of final fantasy.

I think that if I played the older games, I might not be as in tune to them because I'm so used to the new generation games.

I am a big fan of hugely complex plots, and character development, and...the super old games don't seem to offer as much *moosh*. Maybe I'm wrong. =x

Maybe a certain SOMEONE should use Teleportation crystals 8D

I kinda like where this new style is going. I haven't really played most of the older games in the series, but from what I can tell so far, the old style offers sentimental memories for those who's been hooked to the series ever since it came out many years ago. That I respect and understand, so I really have nothing against older styles. They tend to be fun and straight to the point...you know, something like, "simple, short and sweet." That's just how I would personally describe it.

As for the newer styles, they are trying to be more innovative and I really see no problem with that. It's refreshing in a way, but I would prefer if they bring back the non-linear world map. It's just a personal taste of mine. Other than that, they've done great with storylines and more in-depth characters so far, not to mention the various unique features that makes the game its own "Final Fantasy" in the series.

So I'm really aiming more towards the newer styles despite the fact that there's also quite a few things I enjoyed with the older styles.
