I think your questions are good. You just need to put a little more effort into asking questions that are original and conversation provoking. Original questions -- not the same ones which have been recycled and re-used countlessly over the years. :T

And maybe not turning every discussion into a cage death match might help. Yes, I'm probably a hypocrite for saying that considering every discussion I'm a part of goes that route.

But, really.. I do regret it in a sense. It should be fun and empowering as opposed to rock em sock em robotz.

Anyhow, I was looking at some interviews and stuff about Cloud and one of them is Nomura's comment on Cloud I found it very interesting, it says a lot about his character;

"Cloud seems to be a weak guy. Generally, heroes are strong, cool and don't have any weaknesses...Although Cloud is a jerk sometimes, he is really human-like. It's through redemption from his friends and having children to protect that he becomes stronger".

I really liked reading this, its paints a good picture of him :3

Haha, awwww I love how he calls Cloud a bit of a jerk but also says he gets strength from his friends. In that way, Cloud's really hard to pin-point as a character. He's a jerk but he has a soft side for friends. It's unique and one of the reasons why I like Cloud so much. :3

Cloud isn't weak.

He's weak in comparison to a genetically engineered soldier who was bred for war and combat.

That doesn't imply he's weak weak.

That's an interview of Tetsuya Nomura saying that; I am pretty sure he knows the character he created; so when he says something about him its pretty much the end all be all

He's obviously not weak but what Nomura was saying is unless he's fighting for a good or meaningful purpose he doesn't have strength, he gets his strength from his family and friends.

I never said Cloud was weak, but Nomura says he is unless he's fighting for his friends and family.

Let's see. I love characters who develop over time; I truly have a soft spot for them. Cloud begins in both VII and AC as a very careless, rigid character, due to the horrible things he has experienced. Over time, he accepts that people need help and that his ability to help them will, in short, help him. He develops relationships with the entirety of AVALANCHE and learns to not be afraid to let other people in. The same goes for Advent Children. He starts out mourning over the deaths of Aerith and Zack, and learning to cope with that, the Geostigma that is affecting him, Denzel, and other citizens of Midgar, as well as his inner battle with Sephiroth. In the end he faces those things and accepts that things happen for a reason, and that he wasn't to blame. He tried his best, and that's all that matters. Cloud is definitely a role model, I'd say for the FF franchise, because he is truly a well rounded character. He matures throughout his stories, and I find that very remarkable.

I think thats where he and Squall differ completely; where Squall's development only had a single video game too develop it made him simply seem like a broody teenager, but Cloud had a long story to get his development; so he come around as a greatly rounded guy.
