Tifas not really a badass Type character, sure she fights with her fists and has the whole martial artist thing going for her. but her personality doesn't really reflect that.

her only badass moment in FFVII was her Catfight with Scarlet. The rest of the time it was "cloud this.." and "cloud that.."

Shes more badass in AC though, when She pwns, and gets pwn'd by, Loz.
 
I'm stuck between Tifa, Aerith, Rinoa, and Yuna. xDDD

I fail to see Tifa in a badass light. This is solely something that was created by her fanbase. She is a sweet and reclusive individual who only does what's necessary to protect her friends. She doesn't run around beating up UFC champions in bars.

I choose as the most badass female character...
A tie between General Celes Chere and Princess Garnet.
My reasons for picking Celes are obvious if you know her backstory and all. My reasons for picking Garnet are a little bit more biased. She's very outgoing and bold, and I always felt a little "I don't give a shit" vibe coming from her. She did everything and anything necessary and she didn't need a heard of badboys to protect her.
 
As much as I like Tifa, I honestly don't see her as the bad-ass type. I used to, but I was blinded by her fight with Loz in Advent Children. xD In the game, however, she was quite different. She was more shy and timid...I don't know if you can really mix those with bad-ass...whatever works, I guess - but I seriously doubt that's the case.

So I'll have to go with Beatrix, Lulu, Fran, and most especially Paine.

Paine's just the true definition of bad-ass, in my opinion. Even her voice kinda sounds like it. She's one of those girls that once she gives you a dark glance, you best shut your mouth or she'll chew you up. Alive.

The rest...well, everyone pretty much explained it. ^_^


 
Paine, Beatrix, Fran, and Freya.

Paine: No doubt about this one. Even her name is badass. Especially with the nice sword she carries.

Beatrix: Female warriors are always badass. Plus her attitude wasn't sweet and caring at all.

Fran: Cool and calm. The huge bow she wields explains it quite nicely.

Freya: Another cool one. This time with a spear and can always put up a fight.
 
It’d be a tie between Tifa, Ashe and Beatrix, in my opinion.

Tifa, excellent in the skill of Kick Boxing/Martial Arts (as previously stated, no weapons needed)... ^_^

 Ashe, a strong warrior as well as extremely strong willed…

Beatrix, again, a strong warrior and strong willed…
 
As much as I love Tifa, I wouldn't call her badass just because she knows how to fight. Her sweet side wins out a lot more than her tough side, I think.

I'd either go with Lulu (before she got knocked up) or Celes.
 
I gotta say Lulu here. She has everyone by the balls in FFX and she's intimidating as hell.

Yuna does everything she says; Tidus is intimidated by her stern warnings and quick snappy remarks, and Wakka seems even like a subordinate to Lulu. I think Lulu takes home the "I Got Gigantic Balls" award here.

Figuratively...not literally.
 
Unfortunately, I've not played all the FF games to determine who is genuinely the most "bad-ass." However, I have personal favourites.

Beatrix
Playing as her doesn't do her portrayed power justice, sadly. However, she was the only threat to your entire party during the early stages of the game, and lived up to such a role well. Although she's not seen much throughout the game, the scenes she appears in stood out well for me. Her self-confidence could easily be mistaken for sheer arrogance, but either way such a trait is hugely justified by her ability to obliterate your party. Also, she has a kick-ass sword. 8D

Lulu
As Busta noted, she constantly has everyone by the balls. Her stern persona, and cold disposition strikes her in a light of... well, I could easily see her as a villain of sorts. She reminds me vaguely of Edea in appearance, but her personality is far more watchable. Her extensive knowledge of just about everything puts her in a league of her own within the group, and even so in battle; she deals huge damage with her Black Magic for a large portion of the game, and acts -in a way- as a damn good battle tank. Great character, making FFX all the more enjoyable.

Stfu bias. Just because you don't like her doesn't mean you have to mock her in every God-damn FFVII thread.
 
I have to choose Yuffie simply because she is a ninja and female ninjas rock hard!!!!!

That and because she is a radical and she plays everyone in the party as suckers when she steals all of their materia.

Plus Yuffie in FFVIIAC looked so cool when running up that wall:cool:
 
Lulu in X was pretty badass compared to the ff x-2 version.

Beatrix - She could demolish any of the male characters without trying. Plus she just looks like a real badass.

Freya - A female dragoon. What more could you ask for?

Aerith - A flower girl who goes out on her own, and gives her life to try to save the planet. She also didn't dress as slutty as Tifa.
 
Why don't we rule out any female character character that had to be rescued by one of the male characters for the sake of a possible romance?

That would get rid of:
Rosa
Celes
Aerith
Tifa
Rinoa
Garnet
Yuna

Am I missing anyone?

Lenna

I still say Paine is the most badass followed by Faris
 
If it wasn't for Cecil, Rydia never would have became so awesome. She wouldn't have ever made it out of her hometown without dying.

Terra kinda was in a love storyline.

But also if Cecil didn't blow up her home town she's wouldn't have been orphaned. :P And also, that really wasn't done for romance considering that she was only seven years old. ;)

Terra wasn't involved in a romance. Many people thought that there was going to be a Terra/Locke romance but nothing ever came out of that. I still wouldn't put her as a badass female character though.

Usually I don't like completel badass characters because usually they have absolutely no character development during the story or they're very cliched characters.

EDIT: Also a badass female and a strong female presence are two different things. In the capture list... Aerith, Tifa, Celes, Garnet and Yuna would be strong female presences. Rinoa, definently not.

Maybe a better question would be, "Who are strong female characters in the Final Fantasy series."
