Here, we'll discuss Monster Rancher Evo, yet another monster-raising game. However, unlike the other Monster Rancher games, you are able to raise multiple monsters (up to five), battle using up to three monsters, and wander the world in an RPG fashion.

Tips and mentioning what disk will grant you a specific monster is welcomed here. (Mind you, the monster used for a disk that doesn't read correctly is the Hare in this series.)

Well, what are you waiting for? Discuss away.

I've played a monster rancher game and loved it. I had it on copy and never saw it on general release in the UK.

I read about it years ago, when the show was on telly. It sounded interesting, particularly that you use CDs and other games to get your monsters, but I don't think it was ever released in the UK.

I loved training my monsters then taking them on my memory card to fight my friends monsters to see who was the best trainer.

I too liked the animated series that was shown in UK, and I was able to buy a PSone Monster Rancher game. The feature of using cds to create monsters to train was very clever...however, the downside was that it got boring after a while...at least for me it did. I did like the game though. The idea is great but some elements need refinement, like the training and battling. I'm not sure how the newer generations of MR are, but I can only hope they're better.

What I like about MREvo in comparison to the other Monster Rancher games was that it actually had a storyline that you would need to follow in order to progress to another part of the world (and also to get better gadgets to train your monsters with). I'm a storyline buff myself, but sadly, it's rather predictable (although they did throw a very clever twist in there).

Although, as far as getting monsters from disks go in this game, I find that some of them are rather mismatched. Hell, I found a Joker from one of the Lord of the Rings (Widescreen Edition) DVDs and a weird-looking Golem from another disk in the same series. o_O

Some other ones are just plain silly, such as using Finding Nemo to get a Mocchi with a clownfish pattern.

That CD thing is the best innovation that's ever happened in monster-raising games IMO. You can use any CD you want and still get a monster, it's so awesome! I remember I got a really good Suezo from really crappy CDs. xD

Anyways, I've only played the earlier games, not the Evo one I think.
