Due to complaints about spoilers in the mgs thread, I found it applicable to make an mgs4 thread and shit.

also, please remember to use spoiler tags if you're posting spoilers. :) if you're not sure which button on the text editor is the spoilers button it's this one:

Enjoy :monster:

Haha, god thank you. I went into that other topic complaining that people were posting spoilers on other sites...so their response was with other spoilers in that thread....pissed me off so much so I stopped viewing this section.

Well, someone has uploaded the ending of MGS4 on Daily Motion. Part 3 still hasn't processed for some stupid reason, but it's alright to just skip ahead to part 4. You guys may watch if you like, I'm spoiling it for myself because the job I had lined up fell through and so now I have no idea when I'll be able to get a PS3.

Just to warn you guys, manly tears will be shed. I don't think I've ever cried before at
someone trying to light up a cigar and dropping their lighter. Touching doesn't even begin to describe Snake and Big Boss's talk. Oh, and the CQC hug was lulz.

Difference between E3 '06 15 min preview and now.

Which do you guys like now? Kojima himself stats disappointment with the new graphics. When they did it them the PS3 was supposed to be more powerful. So they changed everything. Less light more facial texture mostly.

I can't choose. I'm kinda split half and half with a lot of those images. I like the new textures and attention to detail, but I really like the lighting in the first for most of the areas.

I dunno, I like the new better. That yellow filter on the old trailer looks like it was put in place just to mask weaker graphics, and the graveyard scene had too much lenseflare (shocking, I know). Darker lighting effects do go along with the darker, grittier aspect of the game...but really, it's just more natural to me that it would be really bright. I mean it IS in the Middle East after all.

However, I saw a new trailer on GT for that "game" Afrika...and the graphics actually looked weaker than they did in the trailer we saw of it years ago. So something weird is definitely going on with the graphical capabilities of the system.

Most of the old trailers for games were made back when the PS3 was supposed to be $1000+ with MUCH better power and such. But to appeal to the average spender they dumbed down the system. Which is a disappointment cause I was willing to spend $2000 on the system.

I do agree though, that the darker graphics now go along with the game aspect, but I do have to agree with Kojima in disappointment of what I expected and how it is. Either way though I know I'll still love it.

I played MGS4 last week and it's practically immaculate. It's literally everything you've ever wanted an MGS game to be, I love it.

I have only one complaint about it: the fact that enemy soldiers seem compelled to re-spawn right bloody next to you. A few times I was hiding and a group of enemy soldiers re-spawned directly opposite me. :gasp:

It's very annoying.

Respawn? I've beaten it a total of 11 times now on every level and I've never seen somebody respawn.
In some levels, they come from ledges on the edge of the map, thats how they keep coming. But thats about it.

I get respauning enemies a lot when I fight the likes of
Crying Wolf
and it is a pain in the arse. Not to mention that mission where you have to tail the resistance member in Eastern Europe. Bloody respauning troops refuse to stay dead.:gasp:

And I have to say though, well done on the beast bosses, never before have I shown any pity to a boss I had to kill. :neomon: But seriously, those stories were quite shocking. The last fight was a pain in the arse at times too, though I liked the music used too.

Aaah, well the fight with
crying wolf
they will spawn over and over if you kill em. Your supposed to just tranq them to keep the down.

Ah, I never thought of that. XD

And also, did anyone know about the
facecamo you get from the bosses by tranq'ing them to death? (in beauty form)

I know plenty other little goody locations and how to get them too, made my game a bit fun in the Big Boss and The Boss modes.

You can get tons of face cams.
not killing the beauties, running into people in the ship, IE Raiden 2x, Cambell, Otacon, Sunny, you can even get Drebin face camo. You also get Solidus from beating The Boss extreme. I've unfortunatly already unlocked every in game secret and no longer have anything left to do with the game :( was a good run while it lasted.

This topic seems all over the place, I've recently played the game and I personally thought it lived up to the expectations of what a Metal Gear Solid fan would want in the 4th "major" title. CQC was there, so was the return of Fortunes Rail Gun (which I enjoyed the 3 charges). Graphics for the game was pretty well done, I don't care if it was a bit downgraded it was better looking than most games.

I don't have anything to say about the enemies re-spawing, the game wasn't much of a hassle.

I have most of the facecamos that you mentioned, but have you unlocked the
trophys of bosses? I only have one so far which you get from crying beauty. It is lurking around the field in shadow moses after you defeat crying beauty, check around the corners and you should spot it nearby.

MGS4 SPOILERS
there's one for the frogs and all the boss's.
- After you tranq the frogs that one will be at the door in the garage, right after the cut scene with Meryl.
- Next fight with Octopus, it will be on the bed while your fighting her beauty forum.
- Fight with Raven it'll be on the top floor while fighting the beauty.
- While fighting Wolf it'll be RIGHT behind you when you start the beauty fight. People tend to look around the large field, but if you put on your NV, it'll be right there.
- When you fight Mantis, it'll be down the north hall during the beauty fight.
- The solar gun you get is very helpful with The Boss extreme mode.

I'm gonna have to try the boss and big boss modes sometime... I just hate the final battle, I barely made it on Solid normal. :O

The Boss extreme is rather fun...not as big a deal as people keep saying though. I got it done in 3:34, I wanna try to do a run in under 3.
I love how this time around you HAVE to favor stealth...made it more like the other MGS titles.

I still think MGS3's Extreme mode was harder....Ocelot WAS a pain.

Geez gray fox, under 3 hours in extreme... good luck mate. Thats dedication

This is probably the best game ive played on the ps3 yet. Graphics, gameplay, great cutscenes... all there.
