Medication

I hate meds. period end of story.

Reason is that when I was younger, I had to be put under a lot of medication (personal story) and really didn't help me at all because I was so hooked onto the prescription meds they had me on, I eventually got really sick from it and, I had to go to the hospital. Luckily, i'm still alive and, its all good but, as a kid I despised it so much. I still do but, every now and then I take some medicine for headaches. I really have to be carefully though because I tend to get headaches alot and I dont wanna have to go through what I did when I was younger >.<

I always do, i use to be able to bear pain but i just can't anymore. That and just bearing it doesn't always mean it'll go away. Even though medications relieve pain temporarily, i'll still take them. Though there is one exception, if i get side effects..i don't take it ever.

The only thing other than cold medicine that I have taken is my inhaler for asthma, but I don't really need to use it anymore.

Does Claritin count as a medication? Because I'm forced to take these all year round because of my stupid allergies. Now with the spring months coming up, I'm pretty much fucked until further notice. Mom only got me the 12 hour pill things. :gasp:

Anyway, these are the only medication type things I take. I've tried other allergy medications, but they all made my mouth numb. :/

i usually let minor things like headaches etc just pass themselves and prefer not to rely on pills for everything. ofc if you suffer from an illness where you are required to take pills regularly to manage pain/symptoms of that illness then by all means do so. im slightly annoyed by people who just pop paracetamol willy nilly for some minor pish like a tiny little headache. even moreso by people who ignore information doctors give them regarding doses. i dont think doctors are gods by any means. they can be wrong. but there's a far higher chance of them being right after having went through multiple years of medical training than there is of some junkie with a sore arm, or me, or anyone else who isn't a medical professional.

im indifferent with regards to actually taking medication of any sort in the cases where i actually need it.

now you :toni:

I remember being on various anti-depressants over the course of two years. Doctors were all like "Oh, it may be a while before we find out what medication works best for you, so try these." So I've been prescribed four different types of anti-depressants, having them for about six months each. None of them worked. :mokken: They made me lazy, careless, paranoid and ultimately even more depressed to the point I couldn't even bring myself to going outside. Based on my experiences, I really don't think medication is a good path to go down when it comes to depression. Just pull yourself together, tough it out and you'll be fine.

As for pain relief, I mostly just deal with it. If I get headaches so bad they literally make me sick, I do take a couple of ibuprofen, but mostly just an ice pack helps, so. Last time I was taking regular medication was when I had a cut in my throat, right behind my tonsils. Eating and drinking was the most painful thing ever, so the doctor prescribed me with those god-awful disolvable paracetamol. :mokken: Seriously, that is the most vile tasting concoction ever.
