It seems as though a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie has been planned to be made.

There isn't too much information concerning this, since it seems that the plans were made just recently.

This seems to be the Hollywood trend now: taking anime series and turning them into live-action films. Some other films that I heard are going to be made based on anime/manga are DBZ (of course), Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Monster, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, and Battle Angel Alita.

That sounds pretty cool. So do a lot of the other animes that u said they may be making into live action, espeacially Ghost in the Shell, and Akira. I just hope they dont screw up on DBZ.

they were doomed to fuck it up before they even started. xD

But this really gets on my tits. Why can't they pick a shitty anime to look even shittier? =(

I probably won't even look at it unless they can actually get some good, renowned actors to act out the characters and make them actually look similar to the characters of Cowboy Bebop.

but if it's all being done in japan, then it's as the DBZ live action film would be. Because azns all have black hair. :P

LOL that DBZ movie is gonna be shit.

I read somewhere that Keanu Reeves is slated to play Spike. Which depending on your tastes is either an awesome thing or a disaster. Like to me that is freaking awesome, but my boyfriend is like pissed >_<

I'm a little concerned about this, too, mostly because I'm not so fond of when they take a good anime series and make it live-action. Chances are they'll do exactly what I expect them to do: ruin it. :3

If they get the music and the casting right then it should be fine. So long as they don't make it a soppy love story and leave out Spike's bad-ass ways. xD

If they ruin it, then they ruin it. No point crying over it. And yes, Dragonball was doomed from the start, such bad casting choices. Not even the legendary Chow Yun Fat can save this one. :gasp:

Oh definitely. I can only speak for myself, but I'm not going into this expecting very much, if anything at all. That way, if they happen to produce a piece of trash, I won't be as disappointed if I had my hopes up. I don't want any sappy love story either! It would be nice if they'd stick as close to the
tragic
plot as possible.

Yep, Keanu Reeves is playing Spike. The movie is supposed to be based on the first episode, Asteroid Blues. Obviously, they're going to flesh it out a bit.

Erm... I would include the link to the source, but I seemed to have lost it... It was an MTV article though.

The prospect of a live action Cowboy Bebop movie is actually a pretty cool one, and the series is definitely one that could work EXTREMELY well if implemented correctly into live action. Keep the characters, the music, and the general slick, stylish feel of the anime and it will be boss.

but really... my hopes have all gone to shit now that they've decided to cast Keanu as Spike. You might as well get a cardboard cut out from the anime, have some guy stand behind it and wiggle it around if you're gonne cast Reeves. In fact, I think the piece of cardboard could probably pull off a better performance.

I've only seen the anime movie, I've been planning on watching the series but I haven't gotten round to it yet. I've heard it is really good though, so I'll definitely give the live action movie a chance when it comes out.

Yeah I'm not really a fan of Keanu Reeves either, I personally think his acting is shithouse, but I'll still give the movie a chance.
