Warner Bros. has acquired live-action feature rights to Tite Kubo's manga and anime property "Bleach," which will be adapted by "Wrath of the Titans" scribe Dan Mazeau.
Peter Segal ("Get Smart") will produce with an eye toward possibly directing.

With more than 75 million print copies in circulation in Japan alone, "Bleach" follows the adventures of Ichigo, a teenager who can see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow -- a malevolent lost soul -- Ichigo inadvertently absorbs the power to hunt Hollows. He then dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace.

Segal's Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing will also produce along with Masi Oka and Viz Prods., a subsidiary of Viz Media, the English-language publisher of "Bleach." Jason Hoffs will produce for Viz, while Branon Coluccio will exec produce. WB exec Jon Berg will oversee the project for the studio.

Oka, who co-starred in Segal's "Get Smart," brought the project to Callahan Filmworks.

"I've always been a huge fan of 'Bleach' and have great respect for its creator Kubo and the truly original and amazing world he has created in this manga," said Segal, whose "Get Smart" grossed more than $230 million worldwide for Warners in 2008.

CAA reps Segal, Ewing and Callahan Filmworks, as well as Mazeau, who is also repped by Circle of Confusion and attorneys Shep Rosenman and Lee Rosenbaum of Katz, Golden & Rosenman. Oka is repped by UTA and Circle of Confusion.

I can't stop thinking about the Dragonball Z live action movie... I wonder if this will be anything like it. :hmm:

It'll be interesting to see who they cast as the main characters... :wacky:

I'm still waiting on my DiCapprio Detective Live Action Akira movie. :mokken:

That said, I'd like to see an entire filler anime comprised into a two hour movie of what the plot is supposed to be. :hmmm:

I think the Akira movie was shelved indefinitely. :ohshit: There are currently no plans in effect & they're not currently filming.

I love Bleach and Naruto anime fillers. :gonk:

This reminds me of the Death Note live action American version movie.
Which was supposed to star Zach Effron as Light =.=
I rather watch computer animated movies like FFAC...
Just saying

:hmmm:

This could be a great one if it was made in the right way. Just look at all the Comic books that have been adapted into live-action movies. they've been great, but some of them, well that's another story. I can see this being a hit, but if Stephen Chow somehow ends up on the cast or crew, then we're royally fucked.

The writer for Wrath of the Titans, huh? Well, I can't say I'm all that impressed, but it does seem like Warner Bros. is getting their paws into anything Manga/Anime-related. Just like it was for Akira, and the Death Note american live-action adaption, I think this one will go through a lot of processes that will halt it for AT least three years.

If anything, I'd like to see some good actors being cast as the part, and let them remain to the manga as much as it can. Have Kubo be an Executive Producer or in the very least, someone who will oversee it all. I just hope, when this actually does get into the process of being filmed, that it is not totally shitty, and has at least some relevance to the manga/anime besides the actual name. xD
