Do you do it?

When and where?

Do you do it for all characters as soon as possible, or do you concentrate on one at a time as you go?

I've never bothered, I generally can't be arsed, the most I would do is just use my limits as and when I had them, because i knew that would at least help move it along. As for the 80 battles thing. Could not be arsed

Anyway new play through and am limit training

As soon as each new char was obtained, I'd make sure they all had there first 2 level one limits learned straight away,. Easy done. Then it was a case of having the patience to do the 80 fights. Cloud Im pretty much just leaving to 'as and when' and he seems to be advancing nicely. No point wasting time concentrating on him when he's pretty much a perma-party member

I ended up getting everyones level 2 limits maxed out in the Junon area forests. 5 mons per battle got that done quite speedily, and decent damage for those needing the 8 limits. Managed to get all Aeriths limits there as well, bar Great Gospel, obv

I've moved on now, I'l probably finish up in the next area I can get 5 mons at a time and get them all their level 3 limits.... or after I have Cid.... well, I can train as I go for the time being, aim to at least have them all done and ready by the end of disk one though

what are the requirements for Cait Sith and Vincent btw?

Ohai FFVII thread popper. :lew:

I do it sometimes. Mostly I'm building on Tifa's limit, 'cause it's fun to do. xD It can 'cause a lot of damage with the right timing, and all the slots summed up = win.

Cloud and Tifa are usually as far as they can get in the first disc, red I have trouble with.

It kinda seems like he takes longer to limit up than all the others. :gonk:

Just stick em all with hypers and limit training becomes a breeze. I use em as soon as I get em for the sake of gettin the next ones

I use hypers too, but only for the 8 limits, other than that, I will equip whoever Im building up at the time, with Green + All as well as Enemy skill, so i can take out multiple enemies. You can rack up your 80 kills pretty easy when you are facing 5 enemies at a time

I can't say I've ever really bothered limit training specifically. I usually just gain limits as I grind. I do usually take the time to get everyone's level 4 limits. Getting Cloud's is a pain though. :hmph:

i try to get Vincent's limit's up cuz they're cool lookin' and no offense, but leveling up Aerith is not really worth it. she's a good character and all, but in the end, you wasted roughly an hour and a half due to *spoilers*

I do know what happens, if you read my first post, I say I've never bothered before. I just feel like doing it this run for completions sake, Ive never gone beyond her first level 2 limit break, so it's jut nice getting to see the animation. It certainly didn't take an hour and a half solid training to get her maxed anyway, piece of piss in the forests of Junon

Hee:britt:

Well, I get four of Cloud's first limits during the beginning of the game. Literally, I had four of his limits by the time I left Midgar. Aerith, she was on her second at that time.

After I'm out on the open map, I tend to make the characters crack heads with how many hypers I use. A trick I learned to use is to use the manipulate materia to get stronger enemies to hit the right character with the perfect attack. Also, I use lure materia to attract them.

With this, I find it's quite easy to level up. Although, Cait Sith and Tifa are always the hardest to level up. :hmmm:

I usually have Cloud, Aerith, Vincent, Cid, Red, and Yuffie with all of their limits before Aerith dies.

Long Range materia + Cover materia + hyper + backrow = Limits Galore :andry:

yeah as in the character is put in the backrow reducing the physical damage they receive :ryan:

I usually do levelling up from time to time anyway, not just for the limits, but for materia growth and just general character stats. I do more in Disc 2 than Disc 1, but any time I end my tasks in one location and start travelling to the other, I do some levelling up. It's true, Cloud's limit breaks do come rather fast, because he is in the party most of the time. You just have to give every character a go from time to time, but the ones you concentrate the most on, obviously will get their limits faster. I found Mideel area is a good levelling ground. You get a good number of monsters for limit break advancement and they do provide you with nice XP too. In latest stages of the game I do my levelling up inside Gelnika.

The best way to level up your the 2ns limit break in every limit level is to do as harly says and use the Manipulate Materia on Diablos.........big winged mother hangs around Nibleheim, just have him hit you with drop kick and and it takes 1/4 of your total HP and sets the limit gauge a light.

Also use this to method to kill enemies instead of Multiple hit magic spells as it can net you your next limit level in about a 3rd of the time.

Using this method I leveled up all my characters with in 2 hours, all 9 of them up to level 3 limits.

Has any onwe ever skipped a 2nd tier limit break and just moved straight on to the next limit level? as limit lvl2 Climhazzard does not get BladeBeam but goes straight to Metoerain...........:wacky:?

In response to your last question, I sometimes had Limit breaks 3.1 come up earlier than limit breaks 2.2 or literally within few battles apart. I think Red and Cid were definitely the case.

I was just using Clouds limits as an example coz I cant remember all the names this late.

I think it skipped once on Cid too............the reason I think RedXIII seems to take longer maybe is because 1 of his level 2 limits is not offensive its proactive status with haste and Hit% and Evasion % boosts

The General feeling is when a limit comes up youd rather use the offensive type of limit instead of the status ones..........wouldnt you think?

Ive skipped a few occasionally. I thought I could just leave them skipped and add the level 4 limit, but apparently you need them all :wacky:

Also, Im back in Junon. Taking groups of 5 out with matra magic, should be done in no time. Just training for the 80 fights round here, Yuffie and Aerith down. Then I'm pretty much done bar the final level 3 limit, which, I can just bump up as I go, getting them 8 limits is easy, so I might as well just do it as I progress.

i think fire + all saves mp

and galaxy I like the disproportionate amount of damage an offensive limit does, but I like the curative / haste berserk ones aswell.

the only ones i cant stand are vincent's and cait sith's

yEAH, THAT WORKS TOO, BUT IM TOO LAZY TO CHANGE MY MATERIA SET UP SEEING AS IVE ALREADY RE-JIGGED IT FROM MOVING ON PREVIOUSLY

...fuck you caps lock

The General feeling is when a limit comes up youd rather use the offensive type of limit instead of the status ones..........wouldnt you think?

I definitely agree. Although I liked some of Aeris' ones for example, but with offensive characters, I much rather prefer to do Sled fang or Blood fang than Lunatic High or Howling Moon. And even with Aeris, Healing wind and Seal evil (both lvl 1) are so much more useful than Breath of the Earth (lvl 2), so I often had to force myself to use that one.
