So, anyone notice how in certain games they leave out certain key elements?

Like with FFX and the water summon and the Wind Magic, but they have a wind based summon (Valefore).

Or with FFXII they only have Water not watera or wateraga (sp?).

Why do you think they do this and which magic elements would you have liked to see in your favorite FF games?

Well i think they did this b/c like in XII, since Water was an area effect attack spell, they didn't feel the need to make watera and waterga, and since the summons in FFX were in my opinion overpowered, that's why they didn't make a water summon, or they just didn't feel like making another temple for it.

If I am not mistaken in XII the enemy could use a Earth based spell and the user could not. I found that to be quite weird actually. =/. And also, I would've liked to use a stronger version of water against certain enemeies. It could have come in very useful to me.

I would like to see more water and gravity attacks. But I also believe they should have made a summon for all elements. And given us some earth element action.

I really thought it is strange that there are some elements missing in FFX.
I like when magic have levels or at least stronger versions (fire, fira, firaga).

I believe the more the merrier, so I would like to have as many elements as possible and each with many levels of power.

Elements I like to be presented in a game are:

Water
Plasma
Ice
Fire
Magma
Earth
Wind
Air
Electricity
Thunder
Light
Darkness
Silver (against Vampires XD)

I liked the system they had in FFX, but only as a starting point. There was a nice balance with just the 4 elements, 2 paired cancelling out eachother. It was a little flawed though, logically. I fail to see how water beats lightning, and how ice beats fire.

Perhaps if it were a bit more cyclic, with one or two added in. Each element having one weakness and one strength. Ie...

Water > Fire > Ice > Ground > Thunder > Water > Fire... etc

Like I say, the simplicity of FFX's system appealed to me, because I feel the were a few too many elements in say, FFVIII.

And yet still in FFX gravity didn't really play a good role and I like turninsh a turtle into a slime... [LoL]

Magma = Fire?
Thunder = Electricity?
Wind = Air?

Those seem about the same. lol. Well, I just would like say that if FF is going to put an element into the game, why not use the best of it and use all 3 levels.

I could've watera or waterga in FFXII a couple of times.

in most magick (NOT magic, with a k its diff) books and theories there are only 5 elements, air earth fire water anf the last has many names (spirit light dark shadow nonelemental, whatever u wanna call it), air and water are said to be oppositse and fire and earth are said to be opposites, however none are stronger than the other. when certain elements are paired it makes one stronger, ie

air +fire =stronger fire. earth +fire =stronger fire. earth +water =stronger earth. earth +air =stronger earth. water +air =stronger air. water +fire =heavy but powerful air. and lastly, 5th element +any =ultamate element

fire is the power packed one, water is the suporter, air is the giver, and earth is the container. the 5th element is either all elements in one or it is no element at all. virtually unbeatable but supposedly said that only once every 200 yrs or so one can use it, those are ways of wiccan, and considering the way the games are they added a lot and took others away, any of the final fantasies iv played never had that aspect, i would like to see them use that...

Umm, for the most part Magma is a stronger version of Fire and Thunder a stronger version of Electricity. But they are still a little different.
Wind blows and hits the body while Air attacks from within the body (for example explodes inside your body or something. Deadly!).

There are small difference like:

Fire isn't strong/weak agains Earth
Fire isn't strong/weak agains Wind
Fire is strong agains Air

Magma is strong agains Earth
Magma isn't strong/weak agains Wind
Magma isn't strong/weak agains Air

But I made them up anyway (never really seen them at any game...) so :P
